Thanks everyone for the support!
I also want to thank everyone (like so many others are doing as well) for following and supporting me and this thread. I'm very happy to finish 2nd, I truly thought I would be 3rd after those other 2 brilliant stories, so its quite nice, although its always been a dream of mine to win the One-Rider Award for some reason.
There were a handful of great one rider stories on the site this year, compared to last year, and I think one story that stood out for me, but didn't get nominated was laidbackmarc's Phillipe Gilbert story.
Also I'm planning to have a few updates on the weekend, and since I've been improving at Photoshop, I would like to make some graphics for this story, when it moves to PCM11, like baia and tsmoha, however it will be a little different.
Anyway thanks everyone, and lets see how David does in the next few races.

Thanks My story about Philippe was only 14 pages though, and since it's finished it has vanished. However, I am satisfied, 2 nominations and 1 award is a good result for me

I really wish you hadn't done a One-Rider story, because I was hoping I could win!
But clearly I wont now, and I'm not angry, this is a compliment. This will win the award for sure.
Seems like you knew it all along I'm really glad about the award, that's for sure. Though I think every single one of the three stories would have deserved it. Well, maybe next year, there'll be another outcome (if any of us has the energy to keep it going that far - which I surely hope for )
Oh, and I almost forgot to mention: You deserve essential credit for this award, since it was this story that "inspired" me to start a one rider story as well. So a special thanks for that

Vuelta Ciclista al Pais Vasco - Stage 6 [Final]
April 9th, 2013
So today is the final TT, and the Overall after this is the final rankings! I'm looking forward to getting out and riding because I believe this course is perfect for me. There will obviously be a lot of strong TTers here, but not too many with great hill abilities as well so the results could look a little weird and also really shake up the GC. My main goal is to move up in the GC.
Ignatiev was one of the first Sky riders to go out today! He rode very well and took the early lead, before most of the favourites came out. He put in a time in the 33 minute zone, but the real favourites are expected to ride somewhere in the 32 minute zone so his time will likely be surpassed later.
Tony Martin was the first real favourite to set off, but his run quickly went bad when he skidded on a downhill section. Clearly the course wasn't made for him either as it became apparent that he wouldn't be challenging for the winning time. His final time was 31st place over a minute back!
Denis Menchov was seen as a real favourite for the stage, but he was also surprising the spectators. He was going really slow, so something must have been up but anyway he finished even further back of Martin in 44th place 1:29 back.
Finally, it was the moment I had been waiting for, and the moment that had reduced me to only a few hours of sleep. I was really excited for this day, but I knew I had to relax during my ride, or else the time would be ruined.
I started to climb up the first hill and I could already see the rider that had started ahead of me, just around the bend. This made me want to go even quicker, but I knew I had to keep to my pace if I wanted a good time! The sun was getting really hot and as much as I wanted the rain to come like the weather forecast had predicted I hoped it stayed away until after I was finished with the descent on the course.
Sure enough, I managed to beat out the rain, atleast for now as I started the downhill. At the check point near the summit of the climb a few hundred metres back I put in one of the fastest times. I had a long descent ahead of me, and a bit of a flat section before I came back to the really step section in the last km so I just rode fairly relaxed and tried to save a lot for then.
I reached the final km and knew it would be really tough. I changed gears and just went all out. I could see all the fine details of the rider in front of me as well so either I was having a good ride, or he was having a terrible one. The rush I got from the crowd was amazing, and I was just waiting to see the finish around the bend. Suddenly I got some great news in my earpiece....
...I crossed the line, and I heard my name being shouted quite loudly. I knew there must have been a reason? Did I beat out a local hero into the Top 10? No. I crossed the line with the fastest time by about 20 seconds! How amazing is that? Now only 22 riders had to come in, and not beat my time and I would get the win! This wasn't something I was expecting at all, but I will take it!
One of the bigger favourites was Robert Gesink. He set the new quickest time at the time check, but his time quickly dropped off for some reason. He came nowhere near my time, and I could feel my win was getting ever so close.
I had totally forgotten, my teammate Roman! He put in a very solid time but I still was able to beat him by 30 seconds. Again, I felt better and better.
But then word came through of Valverde coming through on the course and it became probably the longest 10 minutes of my life as I waited for him to get to the line. Sure there were other riders coming in, but none that could contest my time. But Valverde. He looked like he was out to get somebody. Even the motorcycles had to give him extra space. I heard the announcer at the line pick up his voice again. I could pick out the name of Valverde being spoken even though I didn't know the language, so I knew he was close. I waited for him to emerge from around the bend, and when I did, I could just tell he was going lightning speed. I turned away. I just couldn't watch anymore....
Valverde wins! I took second. I cant say Im too happy, and quite deflated actually, but in a few years I can always look back on this I'm sure.

Great result for David, just shame about Valverde, as Mresuperstar pointed out, this couln't be more ironic.
BTW, amazing screens. Best I've seen for a long time in whole stories forum. Well done What set of lighting are using btw ?

Fantastic result with David, and a great position in the final classification. Step by step, David begins to show himself in the elite. |

+1 to both the irony and the fantastic screens you used the light and the landscape fantastic!
Also, I'd like to say that it was a great way to report it. I was really excited reading the last paragraph, very nicely written!

@ Cunego part 1 - Well, you probably have the most detailed story I can think of, and you have kept it going a while. But your layout was perfect from the get-go so there really wasn't any doubt, and you can see from the voting
Thats also amazing to hear. I'm just glad I could improve the community even though this was in-directly. I think everyone should be thanking me then...
@ Sutty - Thank you. I was quite shocked with his result honestly.
@ Mresuperstar - Indeed! And yes, very much so. I wasn't really thinking about it that much though.
@ Alakagom - Mahalo! I'm glad you like the screens! I've always wanted to be a photographer because it would be a fun and easy job. Plus I mean, its a reason to travel the world and much more.... I use no filter All the effects are done afterwards
@ Freitas - Quite right! I was hoping he would get Top 15, and he did. Kreuziger failed to get a Top 10 though. I hope David can keep improving as well!
@ Cunego part 2 - Arigato! All these kind words about my screenshots is nice, and I'm glad people are enjoying them, as I do try my best. Thanks very much, I normally get lost for words when writing my reports, but as it got closer and closer to the end of the report, it kept flowing, so its quite nice that someone has noticed that!
@ Alastair - Thanks a lot man! Maybe, although probably Hesjedal - Veilleux would be better. Still, Valverde, Veilleux, LLS, and Gerdemann is pretty good, since I like all of them.
And btw guys, with the story I'm trying to come up with, it may make you angry, so sorry guys. Unless I change my mind again, which is very possible.

And guys, might be a bit before I pull out the story to transition this to PCM 11 because I'm trying to think of the best solution or idea and one of the ones I'm thinking of may anger you guys.

Yeah, I suppose, I wouldn't mind Cav, Thomas, Wiggins, Froome, Flecha, Eisel top five in the Tour though (especially if Cav one the GC - My mate put £10 on him to win at 5000/1, he thought he won it this year
Does this mean this will stop in favour of Katusha?

@ Sutty - Well I guess, but seriously, you might hate me
@ Alastair - If Cav ever won GC it would have to be filled with 20 flat stages. Afterall he should have been disqualified last year anyway. The rightful Green Jersey winner was Rojas
Nah, I'm just moving it to the new game, and its the middle of the season and now that 11 works, I really dont want to be playing 10, so I'm too lazy to finish the season....
It will take a break to Katusha though, but I never can't be writing stories so....
