Euskaltel - restoring basque honor
BB95
if you not have falled witch Sanchez in one at the first stage you will have be on podium:lol:

SotD
Well imo there was only 2 riders better, since Menchov wasn't that superior. If it hasn't been due to his TT and your crash you would've beaten him by quite som minutes...

The TT and Crash part goes for both Menchov and Leipheimer. I think i took time on both of them in the mountains/hills/downhills etc.

Race schedule - August
img79.imageshack.us/img79/6464/pcm0057nk6.jpg
img360.imageshack.us/img360/2134/pcm0058ys0.jpg

The only race we will be paying any attention to is the Clasica San Sebastian.
For the rest of the month we'll be tuning fitness on Zubeldia and Anton.
All the riders except these two will go on a bit of a leisure trip at the 10th for a few days. While Anton and Zubeldia will hit a mountaintrainingcamp for 6 days.

why the ENECO tour is good!!!
Yes the sebastian is important but dont neglect the eneco!!!!
Well apart from those too and the burgos (if your interested) it should be a more relaxing month!

ENECO tour is not something i'm particularly excited about. Plus, we wont have a sprinter in shape for it. So i'll pass on ENECO and let Zubeldia use it for racedays.
Sorry Smile

Looking forward to the Vuelta, but why are you using a mountain camp? this is the same as editing the stats unless they work differently then in 06 and 07. Sad

Clasica de San Sebastian
img353.imageshack.us/img353/2820/pcm0073ec2.jpg

San Sebastian is upon us. We'd like to do well here but Sanchez form is allready dropping, plus he is feeling the effects of fatigue by now. We'll have to try something different than a direct battle with the likes of Valverde, Shleck, Cunego etc.

100km to go and a breakaway of 5 are in front by 7 minutes. CSC, Liquigas and Caisse are working in the peleton.
img79.imageshack.us/img79/8203/pcm0074lu3.jpg

With 67km to go Monfort of Cofidis is trying his luck, but the peleton is moving fast and it's not looking good for the escapees.
img60.imageshack.us/img60/3097/pcm0076wa1.jpg

52km to go and just 2 riders remain in front. The pace has been upped and some riders are feeling it by now.
img393.imageshack.us/img393/682/pcm0077za3.jpg

And here we are, the Jaizkibel is coming up. It's all square but attacks are bound to come here! Sanchez is not having the best of days today!
img353.imageshack.us/img353/4275/pcm0078nv7.jpg

And Gesink, Rebellin and Bertagnolli go first! Sanchez is having plenty to do with sitting in the peleton so he'll not be answering those attacks. CSC and Caisse set a brutal pace!
img393.imageshack.us/img393/9278/pcm0080cm2.jpg

The 3 escapees are quickly caught but Popovych and Pineau try it as we come over the top. 28km to go for Pineau and Popo, this will be tough!
img60.imageshack.us/img60/8360/pcm0081gi1.jpg

17,1 and the break is caught but here come the favorites. Sanchez ignores the initial attack from Kirchen but as Bettini, Schleck and Ivanov go Sanchez counters. But he'll come up a little short!
img397.imageshack.us/img397/7077/pcm0083pf6.jpg

Final small hill as here. Up ahead are Kirchen, Ivanov, Valverde, Bertagnolli and Nocentini. Sanchez is absolutely out of gas after his attack. We went too early today and a result will be hard now!
img300.imageshack.us/img300/2234/pcm0084lr5.jpg

Schleck has dropped back with Sanchez and the CSC team and QuickStep give chase. The 5 up front look very strong!
img60.imageshack.us/img60/3628/pcm0086ek8.jpg

2,7km to the line, Pereiro launches himself past the frontrunners, Schleck counters him! This must be it. Cunego has made his way up front too.
img79.imageshack.us/img79/8199/pcm0087ey4.jpg

1800m, Pereiro is out of gas, Schleck is sprinting but faster people are coming! Ivanov leads Valverde and Cunego up!
img353.imageshack.us/img353/3047/pcm0088jv8.jpg

1000m, It's Ivanov, Cunego, Valverde, Nocentini. Valverde is first to break from Cunegos wheel and shoots forward!
img60.imageshack.us/img60/2917/pcm0089vz9.jpg

Cunego reacts instantly, 400m and it's looking like Valverde!
img385.imageshack.us/img385/4326/pcm0090pi4.jpg

And Valverde takes by an inch in front of Damiano Cunego! Great race by the two aces. Sanchez manages a meagre 27th, and is now just looking forward to his vacation.

TBH. i've never done much with trainingcamps. But having missed 2 out of 4 goals so far, and the lineup likely to be there for the Vuelta, i'll take all the help i can get.

Vuelta a Espana - Stage 1
img79.imageshack.us/img79/3588/pcm0096bc4.jpg

It's the Vuelta Espana, probably the most important goal of the year for us. We've picked Zubeldia and Anton here, everyone else is too tired after a long season.
Koldo Fernandez will have it in him to race the Vuelta as he's been taking it easy since the Giro. But we're in for a really tough race. The lineup the different teams have brought is scary to say the least. Zubeldia will have to be on his toes for this.

Stage 1 is an 8km TTT, not our best discipline as you all know.

Valverde has brought an awesome team to this Vuelta. He will definately be one of our main worries.
img79.imageshack.us/img79/5720/pcm0092uu9.jpg

Lotto has brought Cadel Evans. We're hoping that he is simply too tired to perform in this Vuelta. If not, it's looking extremely difficult to get into the top 3.
img55.imageshack.us/img55/7052/pcm0093vv7.jpg

Not made any easier by this. Astana with all of their big stars again. Leipheimer, Klöden and Contador.
img79.imageshack.us/img79/8529/pcm0094cd6.jpg

And here are the boys in orange. Despite going full out all the way we end up in last spot, losing 42 seconds to the top team, Astana. Not what we'd hoped for!
