Looks like it will be back to back Luxembourg GCs for Hot Wheels.
(Though a break always seems to take the GC in Luxembourg Sad ..... though it was a super ride to beat Voeckler.) Wink

The final stage of the Tour of Luxembourg. Last year we hold the jersey this stage, so it should be possible this year as well. At least we’ll work for it.

Just like yesterday there came a breakaway and we gave them the room to create a gap. No-one was interested in taking them back and we could live with that as well, so once again the breakaway would hold it till the finish.

They even lapped the peloton and in a chaotic sprint it was Laurens de Vreese who took the victory today! Around eight minutes later finished the peloton. But who won the GC?

Yes, it was Rodrigues who took a back-to-back victory here! What a great result from him. It looks like he likes this race. He was even better than last year, because this time he won a stage and wore the leader jersey one more day. Great result!

He also won the mountain jersey, just like last year. That’s a nice present!

And of course he won the young rider classification as well. Within two weeks Rodrigues won four different classifications and a stage. He’s in great shape and it’s looking like he’ll be a serious challenger to take the Portuguese champion jersey for another year, although he only wore it two times his last thirteen stages.

Before we go to the national championships we start in two other races. We want to have our riders in good shape for the championships, but of course we start here because we see opportunities for a good result. Rodrigues will be our leader here. He’s in a very good shape and with one hilly stage we see opportunities for a good classification and maybe a stage victory.

Cheng Siu To is in shape as well. He rode a great prologue and his time was long standing in the Top-5. Eventually he lost some places and at the end of the day his time was good for an 18th position. If I remember correct it’s our best result in a time-trial so far. Nice job To!

Although the stage of today was flat, the final kilometre was uphill. So everything could happen within that final kilometre.

There was a breakaway with thirteen riders, and Chapman was in it. He’s in good shape so maybe he can show something nice soon, because we haven’t heard a lot about him yet. But the peloton wanted that mass sprint so they closed the gap to the breakaway.

We tried to attack with Rodrigues with five kilometres to go, but it failed. Maybe we should’ve waited for the sprint, but we weren’t sure about that, so we tried it with attacking.

Ginnani took a gap and no-one could close it anymore. He took the stage victory and he took the leader jersey. Watson finished on a good ninth place. Tomorrow is the hilly stage. Then we want to show something with Rodrigues.

First we wanted to start in the Tour of Slovenia, but we got refused there so we’re starting here. Today we have a flat stage, then we have two mountain stages and we finish with another flat stage. Our leader is Remuzgo, who’s also the only one in good shape. We don’t have a sprinter here, Watson is riding in the Netherlands, so we actually didn’t have a candidate for the stage victory today. Garcia Sánchez, Massot and Hahn all have a decent sprint, but they don’t have much experience with mass sprints and they’re also not good enough yet to win one.

So we sent Garcia Sánchez into the breakaway. He and Ignatiev were the only riders who were interested in the mountain sprints. Ignatiev won the first one, where Garcia Sánchez got second. At the second sprint the positions were switched, so they had the same amount of points. We’ll see at the end of the stage who’ll wear the jersey tomorrow. Meanwhile the peloton was closing the gap and we would get a mass sprint.

MTN-Qhubeka was working hard for their sprinter Van Heerden, but Veelers took away the stage victory just before him. With a mountain jersey tomorrow it’s not likely that Veelers will wear the jersey after the stage, so everything can happen tomorrow. We’ll see what will happen.

Sorry guys, I have to disappoint you. I thought that today was the hilly stage, but that stage is tomorrow. So today you’ll get another ‘boring’ flat stage report.

There was a breakaway with seven riders, with Chapman in it once again. They got around ten minutes lead, but the peloton was closing the gap.

Of course the breakaway got caught. The peloton lost its speed and some riders attacked. De Vreese, Voigt, Rodrigues and Le Mével were the ones who tried it. But they all got caught.

It looked like Mezgec would win this stage, but Groenewegen waited very long and just overtook him before the finish. It’s strange to see the mountain jersey winning a sprint, but Groenewegen got second in the uphill sprint yesterday so he’s now wearing the mountain jersey. At least, today. He took over the leader jersey from Ginanni because of the bonification seconds. Tomorrow will be our favourite stage, the hilly one. And this time it’s really coming, I promise.

Great to see the Portuguese champ putting in a late attack, it will be difficult for him to retain the NC, but you never know.

The Rider: I hope to take a new nc. I think Hong Kong shouldn't be too difficult, but I'm not sure about Portugal. Really hoping for Luxembourg, Poland or Colombia. Especially Colombia must be possible, but I can't demand anything. Wink

Today was the first of the two mountain stages. Today we’ll finish on a mountain, while tomorrow we’ll finish after a descent.

Remuzgo was one of the favourites for today, one star, so we sent Aguilar into the breakaway. He’s in decent shape so maybe he can do something today.

Unbelievable but true: Remuzgo got a puncture on the first climb. Fortunately he could ride back to the front of the peloton, with some water bottles, but this has cost him some energy. And he may need it today!

Meanwhile Aguilar was setting up a high pace in the breakaway and he rode away from the other riders. It was the start of a very long solo. He won both mountain sprints and he’s the new leader in the mountain classification. Unfortunately he got caught, but he has ridden a great race today.

There were several attacks during the final climb, and a French cyclist from Drapac managed to stay away and he took the stage victory.

Remuzgo did an awesome job and finished second. Unfortunately for him there was one cyclist who finished in front of him, but fifty seconds earlier. Remuzgo is now second in the GC, a minute behind the leader. This is the first time we see him showing his real potential. Tomorrow the finish is after a descent, and Remuzgo is very good at the descent. So we see opportunities for a stage victory tomorrow.

As I already told Aguilar is the new leader in the mountain classification. He has a nice gap, so maybe he could go for the victory in this classification.

Just a great ride there. And it really is impressive how you kept the motivation with this team (to be honest, it's pretty bad) and after quite some time - the results are finally appearing. I like what I see!

sutty68: He's really doing great. He actually was the strongest on the final climb but there was one rider in front of him. Hopefully he can take revenge in the next mountain stage.

admirschleck: Thanks! Smile I have to say that this team means something special to me. I have a band with it. That's one of the main reasons I'm still writing this story. Wink Our team was very bad at the start indeed but now we've really improved. Last year we already had some victories, and I hope that this season we'll take more. Although we also should be happy with a second place which Remuzgo just took, because at the start of the story that was just impossible.
