I'm a little older than that ( ) and have been riding for a fair few years. This year, as my dad told me over dinner, I should focus on racing my own category races so I actually have a chance of winning a race, rather than doing the elite races all the time and not standing a chance! (I believe the word here is "Told" .

Haha! Last time I took a long trip (for me), I fell and broke my left wrist.
Goal: Cycle 41km.
I managed 20.5km In one hour and five minutes.... I stopped. Had some text messeges that needed to be answered.

The longest I have ridden was 130 miles / 208km. Took me 9 1/2 hours, and for the last 3 hours I must have averaged about 10 mph. I have never, ever, ever, been so tired in my life.
This is the route:

Im 20, a Cat 3 racer here in the states. Today's ride was only 1H15Min and included pouring rain, 20+mph winds and 50degree weather.
I don't see how the belgians/euro pros do it for 4+ hour, 100+mile races |

Upon consultation with my wise father, I decided to start actually eating and drinking on my rides. Whilst this seemed to solve the dead feeling, it caused another - cramp. But this was brought on, I believe, by my overall quite steady pace. Did 18.64 mph average for 2hrs15, so thats quite nice and reassuring to be able to do that.
Also realised my first road race of the year is next sunday, at 80km, it isn't too bad, and I should do ok on the uphill finish being this light...
We'll see I guess!

Just did a ride, I've realized by this point my major issue is long distances, so I've decided to only race crits this year, to stay competitive. Hopefully next year I'll be strong enough for Road Races
Just did a little math, I averaged just over 16 mph over 18.69 miles, which, when you include the hills, isn't bad for me with only 3-4 months of serious training under my belt

i did 41 miles at an average speed of 18.9mph on tuesday. quite pleased with that. but then i let myself down by not going out today kept telling myself to rest my legs for sunday but really i just bottled it. unless i win on sunday when i can hail it as a master stroke
they say that if you can ride for 1 hour at an average speed of 18mph on a undulating course then you are ready to start racing. |

Ride I did monday: Recovery ride, 2 hours
https://www.mapmyride.com/ride/united-...8345859310
Ride I did Wednesday: it was a 3 hour "Just ride" day as my coach would call it. No special intervals or anything. Almost perfect weather except for wind.
https://www.mapmyride.com/route/us/ca/...8261157928
Ride I did Thursday: High Cadence ride, 2.5 hours.
https://www.mapmyride.com/ride/united-...8316932101
The ride I am planning on Saturday: Its supposed to be an endurance ride meaning 4.5-5 hours but since this is a rest week then I may truncate it. If I am feeling good I'll add in a trip up Ida Clayton Road.
