I just don't know guys. I fear it might get boring without a change of goals and addition of riders. I could peak Sammy for the Ardennes and the Vuelta. But that's just solving some of the issues as we'll still be riding with more or less the same squad doing the same stuff, just with a shuffle in the riders. The only thing we've got to make real progress with is Igor Anton.
I've only played PCM '07, but I expect that like in PCM '07 you'll get different goals next year.
And as I mentioned before, in October you'll get new money from the sponsor and a new transfer budget (At least that is the case in PCM '07). You can also sell some of your riders (that depends on other teams wanting to buy them) and my advise is to look out for one or two young talented riders (somewhere between 20 and 24).
If you're really afraid riding with the same squad will get boring pick a new team, because either way around you'll be riding with at least 80% of the same riders. |

That's not the problem. I don't mind the squad being almost identical. What i'm looking for is variation. To be able to take on other goals etc. So we wont be doing the same races with the same captains year after year. I've full faith that next years budget will be better. And could just wait it out. I was asking peoples opinions.
Stats is out of the question after running it by you guys.
Signing non spanish riders is also out of the question.
We will only sign spaniards, basque or not.
Now the only question remains, do you guys want to see a high profile riders on the team(increase budget for one signing)
Or do you want it to run as it is(no budget increase, probably no new signings)
Of course, i will recruit 2 or 3 youngsters in any scenario. |

Honestly I would prefer to see you race with the same profiles. Maybe there will be an improvement to see inthe next season. Anton might "explode", who knows.
Are there any reasonably good young spanish riders availible? And which high profile ones are out of contract? |

Well I expect you'll get new goals next season.
And with talented youngster I mean riders like Lars Boom, Roman Kreuziger or your own Igor Anton. Riders with potential, who are already close to the top.
And I don't mind a non Spanish riders as long as in a few years (If you even get there) about 80% of the team is still Basque (or Spanish as it might be difficult to check). |

Doesn't matter if they're OOC. I wouldn't be able to afford the wages. We can sign the 3 young talents for the 11K but that's it. Unless someone makes a bid on one of our riders. |

Why don't try to change team??? In the latest months managers from the other teams always get fired, i think you should give it a shot. B)
But if you decides to keep on with Euskatel, sign non spanish riders to. Who cares wich country or region the come from. That dosen't matter! It's not like you rides bad with an italien rider and then drives much better with an spanish?!?! As long as it is a good rider that fits inn to your squad(attributes) you should try to sign him even if his not from the baskeland! |

Tour de France - Stage 19
A bit of an off day before the ITT tomorrow. We'll try for the sprint if we have any options at that point but other than that, it's just looking at the scenery for us today.
With 88km to go the breakaway initially had 9 riders in it but they've attacked eachother all day, and are still going at it. So they probably wont make it home.
40km to go and the sprinterteams are really going, the breakaway is being reeled in one rider at a time as they've been too busy tiring themselves out trying to break away alone.
26km to go and up ahead are the last of the breakaway. Ivanov held out in front the longest, but alone it was always going to be tough.
7,9km to go and it's all square. Sanchez sits on the wheel of Steegmans, Bennati and Haussler on the right, Elmiger on the left. Zabel hasn't had luck finding a suitable wheel and is a bit back in the middle of the pack.
2600m. Steegmans Launches, Boonen breaks out almost instantly, as does Elmiger on the left. Haussler is coming fast on the right with Hushovd behind him!
1600m, Advantage Elmiger and Boonen, but they're really going fast on the right, Zabel is coming forward from the back.
400m, Hushovd looks like he's the fastest! Zabel has come up on the side of Sanchez
200m and Hushovd will take this! He edges out Haussler for the win, Elmiger takes 3rd spot. Impressive by Hushovd, he launched from way back!

Tour de France - Stage 20
The 50km ITT is here. This would be the day of great drama had we not lost so much time to the favorites, or had such a commanding lead. For us however, it wont make a big difference. We're safely sat at 4th place and that's not likely to change. However, Menchov and Leipheimer are seperated by just 4 seconds in the GC with Leipheimer currently in the lead. Leipheimer is the better TTer on paper, but is Menchov in better shape?
Here's one man who might have something to say about this stage. The ITT maestro, Fabian Cancellara.
Contador has had a strange tour. Nowhere to be seen in the first half, but then rose to grab a stagewin and showed his power a few times on the climbs. He will probably be the leader for the Vuelta.. which is a scary thought.
This man will undoubtedly challenge for top honors one day in the tour. This year, he has done so much work for Menchov together with Gesink. Has played a crucial role in Menchovs current GC position.
Same goes for this man. Has worked his butt off for his captain. Could possibly do something today.
And allthough Klöden is out of the GC competition, he could also do a stagewin here.
Sanchez is out! But his first time is disappointing. There's no danger to our position in the GC, but we had still hoped for more. Behind him are Menchov, Leipheimer and Evans. Menchov is closing VERY fast.
With 20km to go, coming up on the 2nd check Menchov has almost caught Sanchez! I tell Sanchez on the radio to ride harder. We will not be overtaken!
2nd check, Sanchez is keeping Menchov at bay now and has moved up to 31th in the provisional table.
And here is Evans as he crosses the 2nd check. None of the podium riders have set top3 times.
With 4km to go Menchov is gunning it! He is almost at the side of Sanchez! Sanchez rides with everything he's got!
1200m, Menchov has caught Sanchez but he is slowing down. He must've overextended himself! Sanchez starts to pull away a little.
Sanchez reaches the line 3'24 after Popovych and for now, holds the 21th spot.
We managed to keep Menchov behind us and didn't have to suffer the indignity of seeing our competitor pass us.
And here is Levi Leipheimer in his polkadot jersey. He manages to ride into 5th today, beating Menchov by 49 seconds today. He will retain his 2nd overall.
Cadel Evans, he takes 4th spot today, 33 seconds after Popovych. Unless he crashes tomorrow, he should be our 2008 Tour de France winner.

Tour de France - Stage 21
The final stage of the tour. It'll most likely be a parade with a small breakaway, and in the end the peleton will catch them and sprint for victory. I'll leave all the talking till the end of the stage.
Oroz went in the break for us today. Came up short to start with and worked a lot to get up the the rest. But now we're here. The pace is steady and it's mostly fooling around in front of the camera.
63km to go and Paris is in sight for the peleton. The riders breathe their last few breaths of french country air for this year and get ready for the race.
Oroz is on the Avenue des Champs-Élysées! Here he is rounding the corner at the Arc de triomphe. But there's no sight of the peleton yet?
And i think it dawns on both breakaway and peleton at once what's happened.. We come almost all the way back to the start before the peleton enters the circuit! Everyone's been so caught up in cameras and having a ncie time that noone has apparently felt the need to control the pace. With 49km to go the breakaways holds 10 minutes advantage on the peleton!
31km to go and the peleton aren't even going to try to catch them. It's more or less easy riding on both ends and the stage will be settled between the breakaway riders.
11,3km to go and Berges and Canada try to break away from their fellow escapees. There's confusion for a minute as noone wants to work. But then they agree and set a high pace, and Oroz feels it instantly.
4,9km and Oroz is hanging on by his nails. He's in the back of the train but the two out front might make this!
The peleton up the pace and apparently Galdos and Galparsoro got tangled in eachother cause they both manage to crash in the middle of the peleton!
And they've sparked something! Riders go down all over. And here is number 6 in the GC, young Andy Schleck! This is a nightmare for him, the pace is high now and he probably wont make it back to the pack! Will he lose his GC position?!
2900m to go and the breakaway riders up the pace to catch the frontrunners. Unfortunately Oroz, our man out there today just didn't have it in him to hang on and has to watch his fellow escapees race for victory.
The 2 out front are caught as Duyn looks very strong! He blazes ahead!
1000m to go and it looks like Duyn!
Huub Duyn of Garmin - Chipotle takes the win on the Champs-Élysées! This win will make the entire tour worthwhile for the small team.
In the peleton Tom Boonen outsprints Erik Zabel for the honor and not much else.
But poor Andy Schleck, he must be absolutely heartbroken. He's going to tumble a few slots down the GC on the last stage.

Reaction
That's the tour of 2008. And we're very happy about it! We started of in a bad way with losing time in a crash and then the ITT. A top 5 position looked very hard at one point. But i think Samuel has surprised everyone. With 3 stagewins, 2 times 2nd place, the green jersey and 4th overall, i don't think we can be anything else than absolutely thrilled. There were 3 riders who were just better overall. There's not much to say about that other than congratulations, and that Evans was truly the right winner. We'll see if Sammy comes back next year, if he does, we'll be aiming for top3 for sure. |
