@Luigi, in Limburg you have very short and very steep little hills in the woods, so I'm pretty happy . |

I think what you are talking to what to be expected. This route is pretty much designed to go off in the last week. The mountain stages last week werent too hard. I enjoyed to see other sprinters winning, but the crashes are just too bad.
Overall, not a great race so far, but with the route in mind, I dont think you could have expected that much more so far. Todays mountain stage was the least difficult so the best is definetely to come. |

oh dutch country side, why are you so flat

At work so didn't see the stage, did Uran look weak at all or was it a matter of letting them go and conserving some energy? First day on the real climbs can always cause some havoc

Poels looked stronger. Evans stayed with him but gained a few seconds in the sprint. Overall the time differences weren't that great.
Quintana looks like the coming man, being already the strongest of the GC guys with Pozzovivo.

Stage 11 - Valdengo to Plan di Montecampione (225km)
After a spectacular stage in the Alps of Piedmont, which ended in a victory for Enrico Battaglin, it's time for another mountain top finish. This time, we won't have any serious uphill sections before the final climb, but the climb to Plan di Montecampione should never be underestimated.
With 20kms at 7.5% on average the climb is a serious challenge for the GC contenders again. As monday will be a rest day, it's likely we're up for a serious GC-battle. Will Uran keep his pink jersey, or will someone like Evans, Quintana or Pozzovivo take it over?
The stage has two possible types of winner: a decent climber from a break or a GC-rider. As it's likely the peloton will save energy for the final climb, the first of two options seems most likely for tomorrow.
Favourites
But who are the favourites then? For the GC-riders, we have the obvious choices of Domenico Pozzovivo and Nairo Quintana, the strongest two of today. Fabio Aru, Wilco Kelderman, Rafal Majka, Cadel Evans and Rigoberto Uran are more riders who are going to stand a chance.
For escapees, tomorrow seems to be another chance. Bardiani might go for 3 stage wins in 3 days. Stefano Pirazzi, Enrico Barbin and Edoardo Zardini seem 3 riders who all have shown some decent climbing and may stand a chance.
Adam Hansen is always worth mentioning if there's a stage for fighters. The Australian is hoping to bring Lotto some success this Giro. Perhaps Lars Bak or Sander Armée are other options for the Belgian team.
Team Sky hasn't been succesful at all here. They hope to change that, and Philip Deignan and Salvatore Puccio seem to be their best options for a stage win tomorrow.
Neri Sottoli has a decent contender in the Venezolean Yonathan Monsalve. As Rabottini is still too close in the GC, he isn't likely to get much space tomorrow.
Other contenders may be Georg Preidler for Giant, Przemyslaw Niemiec for Lampre, Francis Mourey and Alexandre Geniez for FDJ, Fabio Duarte and Miguel Rubiano for Colombia and Franco Pellizotti and Diego Rosa for Androni.
***Edoardo Zardini
**Adam Hansen, Philip Deignan
*Yonathan Monsalve, Przemyslaw Niemiec, Alexandre Geniez

Great finish for Rafał - kudos for chasing Pozzo down, shame he was stupid enough to let them go in the first place.
Ur the stupid one, he clearly felt he would blow up if he kept their pace any longer and had to take his own pace.
Finished watching the replay of the whole Pozzo action and I keep my opinion it was rather a choice then a forced situation.
When Pozzo attacked Majka kept on his wheel. He was right on Pozzo's wheel, when looked back at Uran asking him to take the effort. Uran didn't and when Majka had his look back at Pozzo, he was already off his wheel. And yes - Majka couldn't follow then just as he couldn't reply Quintana's counter. But it was his choice to let Pozzo's wheel go in the first place. At least that's how it can be interpreted - nothing is known until Majka tells his story.
PS. Thank you very much for your thorough and objective assessment of my opinion. |

Firstly, Uran didn't look so cracked, but at the end, when Poels and Evans finished few seconds in front of him, he really looked bad.
Meanwhile, Quintana had that coldbloded and calmed face all the time, so I have no idea how did he feel.

Just the final climb worth watching then. Should expect some fireworks as it's the day before a rest day and with the relative flat course the GC guys will have quite some strength left. |

Still down and out with a virus so my comprehension of that stage was a bit wack, but that was an awesome stage to warm the heart and soul. Given the way AG2R and Pozzovivo have been one of the main instigators of GC attacks in the mountains so far I hope the Italian can rewarded himself with a great GC position by the finish.
If that is a teaser of what awaits us from tomorrow in the third week, bring it on.

I would scratch Niemiec out of the * list. He has said that he will wait with any actions until stage 16. |

Battaglin is a nice winner. Timmer 7th
Oh, and of course, Kelderman pretty decent I guess
Anyway, where's the last 3 km video thing when you need it?

Pretty decent? Kelderman surprised the fuck out of me. For a long time he was the only one near Pozzovivo/Quintana. He almost closed the gap on 2 occasions.
Perhaps he should've done like Aru. Stay with Uran and attack the final KM.
But hey, at least he tried to follow the best, you can only get better from that as a young rider. |
