I'm "only" 30 points away from relegation. That's what? 4 Vuelta stage wins. Or Paris-Tours win. Or, erm... help?!!!

Tour des Pyrenees
Martinez is our leader here for this four days of climbing fun. Only a 2.2 race, which I'd normally ignore, but I happen to like it, and Levarlet came 5th overall here last year, so we're looking to improve.
Stage 1 is an ITT, which Martinez is favourite for (in fact he's favourite for every stage).
He duly delivers!
Second stage he drags himself clear, and to save on red bars, waits for company. Samouloieveoiu however, does no work when he gets across, and so the gap comes down, and he outsprints Martinez for the win.
The third stage Martinez attacks a little too early, and ends up being caught and overtaken on the final climb. 4th on the day moves him down to 4th overall.
A standard last day sees us try to get away with Mederel and Mespoulede, but both are brought back. Martinez follows the two leaders for a while before having to drop back to Tankink. Another 4th on the day secures one GC placing higher than last year.

Deutschland Tour
Generally, we're here for stage wins. Firstly the TTT on day two, and then Levarlet is aiming for the mountain stage mid race. He can't TT well enough to top 10 overall, so it's no point protecting him throughout the race. Vaugrenard will also be aiming for the final ITT, as he'll have a fair chance at doing well in it.
Stage 1
Into the final sprint, Drujon is basically out of blue, but on Bennati's wheel. Good pick.
He fades away, but Greipel wins easily.

Stage 2
We want to win todays TTT, but up against a Rabobank team that has Evans, Dekker and others, it'll be tough to say the least.
Drujon is our first rider to be dropped, as we pick up our pace over the climb.
Vaugrenard, our TTist supreme, leads us over the line for provisional first.
However, it doesnt stand as Rabobank, then CSC and Gerolsteiner all beat us.
A disappointing ride.

Stage 3
This was looking likely to be run like a flat stage. Not a lot happening for a while, other than the break of the day going off after the first intermediate sprint.
Duque was out solo for a long time, but everyone was caught as we hit the final climb. Up over the top the favourites, or some of them, attacked for the KoM points. It caused a massive split
I then thought that that would be it, and this group of 32 would sprint it out for the win. I was happy for Levarlet to be still in there, and looking fine.
But then the pace started picking up into the crosswinds. And before long, guys were popping out the back one after another.
Samuel Sanchez then put in a dig with about 16km to go, before the final little rise.
He caused the group to shrink to 12 strong. Levarlet still very present in there! Then Dekker attacked just after the climb. No one else could go with him, and everyone else came back together.
As we hit the final 4km, Levarlet had just taken his turn on the front, and found himself stuck. On the front.
Patience would be key here, and with 1.5km to go, Levarlet started his sprint. The biggest threats were Evans, who'd been let down by his lead out man Boogerd, and Popovych, on Levarlet's wheel.
And with 600m to go, Popo is making his move.
Dekker having won, looked over his shoulder to see...
... second place to Levarlet! Amazing. 2 points in the battle of survival!
I guess we're going for the GC after all!

The fourth stage is another potentially deciding stage of this tour. Hilly in nature, but nothing too serious till the end, a hard pace could wear down riders before a final attack seals a stage win. We do have to wonder if 74 hill is enough for Levarlet to cope.
Well, the usual break goes, and then the pace goes up to pull it back. As the pace rose, Levarlet soon found himself (with 70-80 km to go) alone.
But strangely enough comfortable with the pace.
With 50km to go, the Peloton had cut down to around 50 riders. The break just in the distance.
With the break caught, and passed, it wasn't long before the final climb started. And, with that, Schleck attacked. Dekker followed fast, as did a bunch of others - including Levarlet.
It was a good move, and over the top, Schleck and Dekker are free.
Just behind them, are the group with Levarlet. As the group plunged over the side though, a few dropped off the back.
And coming into the final kilometres, Dekker wins easily.

Yes, there is a mountain stage. And this is it...
Lookie at the steep ol' mountain. Bit tough eh?
So we rock onto the meaty part of the stage, 40km to go, Levarlet et al. are still there, doing ok.
And it's not till we hit the mountain proper that he ends up all alone, so good work team.
And lo and behold, as the riders do hit the mountain, attacks come left right and center. Levarlet manages to get away with Dekker. Not bad eh?
And as we hit 4km to go, Levarlet is starting to suffer big time, but he's still in that 3rd group.
And, just before the final km, he loses it. 4 bloomin' red bars.
And so, going from 1 minute 30 gaining on the peloton, he loses 1 minute of that right out.
And just finishes ahead when he regains his breath.
Frick. No chance of top 10 GC now. No points. Rubbish.

So here comes the first of four flat stages. And, as predictable as the British weather, when your sprinter is on a +5 day, the Peloton will not chase. Oh no. Not a chance. There was also a brisk wind (35-45kph), so always a chance of a split peloton.
Well, as the peloton wasn't chasing with 80km to go, Champion was ordered to beast it. He was joined by Zubeldia.
They soon made fast inroads into the three guys up in front of them.
Catching the first bloke on the first climb.
By the start of the second, they've caught and passed the other two as well.
Zubeldia is in some serious form, as he's putting the hurt on Champion on the downhills. As first thought, Drujon is +5, Champion is -2 and now 2 red bars, but a sneaky bit of work, and Zubeldia is happy to "follow" for the final 11km at a lowish pace.
And so Champion is leading it out, with a split peloton (my fears were correct - but no fear, the sprinters will close those gaps - yes PCM is really that predictable, even on Extreme).
But can Champion hold on? He tries to jump when Zubeldia is taking a drink, but as the AI always does, it cheats. Ever seen a rider sprinting with a bottle out? Well I now have.
Not quite holding on, but gaining two valuable points, Champion does a very good counter attack ride. Chapeau Champion!
And Drujon took 2nd in the 2nd peloton sprint behind Bennati. Yeah. Good stuff.

Stage 7, Deutschland Tour
Another sprinters stage, and as Drujon looked to be on a normal day, we had no problem with the bunch lacking motivation in chasing.
Coming into the final 8km, the sprinters were all following Drujon for once, so Vaugrenard had no choice but to lead him to the front, and try and win from the front.
And sure enough, as we hit the sprinting zone, Drujon has to go for it from the front. Wiesenhof are piling on the pressure from the right hand side of the road, but it's Greipel, Haussler and Bennati behind that could cause more trouble.
And as we pop under the 1km to go banner, Greipel leads the charge from behind, showing Drujon a clean pair of heels.
It's close for 3rd at the moment, and Drujon is looking likely to end up 4th. But in a late spurt towards the line, Drujon starts making ground back up on Greipel. I think his far improved fitness is showing.
And another 2nd, in the 2nd day running for Auber! Maybe we've got some fight left in us after all!

Stage 8 is a 45km ITT.
Bad news for Levarlet. Good news for Vaugrenard?
Pervis is our early man, and sets a reasonable time for everyone to beat.
Vaugrenard, later on, is the second favourite for the stage but (I'm really starting to hate Cyanide's AI and logic by now) he gets gifted a -5 day.
Tossers.

yeah, tough luck with the TT, but at least you're getting a few points here and there.
