Double Feature | THE END
Ian Butler
valv - Thanks! I know exactly what you mean Wink For me, cycling is all about emotion, so that's why I've only done one-rider stories so far, to connect with the rider.

Tour of Oman - Stage 1

Last year, Beppu got the win of a lifetime here. This year, Willy will go for the win, and nothing less!

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/oman01_zpsa9188b7b.jpg

Kittel still not in his best shape. Cavendish and Davis are the men to beat here.

Since Kittel's low form and the hilly finish, Stijn was the main sprinter here.

Tour of Oman - Stage 5

The most important stage for the GC.

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/oman201_zps93da89fa.jpg

After Anton escaped, Willy was the only one with a (late) reaction. Evans joined in the effort a bit later.

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/oman202_zpscf55cb22.jpg

Anton was too far ahead and took the win.

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/oman203_zpsac945d6b.jpg

Evans took a second place, Willy third.

As expected, a final duel between the two winners of this Tour of Oman: Cavendish and Davis.

Willy Wouters

I'm very glad with this tour of Oman. Compared to last year, I feel a lot(!) stronger. I think I might surprise people in the Tour, with maybe even a top 20 place, but let's not get ahead of ourselves just yet!

All I know is that I finished right behind Anton and Evans, and before Valverde, and that makes me very happy and hopeful!

Stijn Van Gent

The cooperation with Kittel went smoothly. I delivered him, like promised, but he just lacked some form. Let's hope that changes soon. In the final stage, I kind of screwed up for him, though, but he managed fine by finishing 6th.

In a couple of days, I finally get to race the Omloop again, this time as a leader. I'm curious how it will go!

Third isn't bad. It's very good

A Great third place finish for Willy Wink

Ollfardh
I think Willy can claim leadership where ever he starts after the last few results.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Top 3 in GC is very nice. Too bad Kittel couldn't score a win Sad
Winners never quit, quitters never win.

It's difficult not to be happy when you're surrounded by Belgians. - Mark Cavendish

cunego59
You're really getting consistent results with your two guys, it's going great!

Ian Butler
krisa - I agree, thanks Wink

sutty68 - Thanks! With guys like Anton and Evans, a podium is extremely nice!

Ollfardh - He's been enjoying a wonderful season start, now it's a matter of staying in great shape Wink

PCM rulezz - Thanks. Well, Kittel isn't in great shape, yet. Let's hope he gets better for Milan!

cunego59 - They've been developing a lot, too. Thanks a lot!

JuanMotr
Great result from Willy shame you didn't gave Kittel his glory Pfft Grin

Ian Butler
Well, no glory for Kittel in Oman. He'll have to suffice with a much less prestigious win in San Remo... Pfft

Coming up, Omloop het Nieuwsblad!!

Omloop Het Nieuwsblad

It seems like forever since I started here last year. So much has happened since then. I feel like a rider much more complete and I'm not afraid to speak my ambitions out loud: I'm going for the top 10!

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/omloop01_zps2c20ce6a.jpg

Last year I was 21th, let's try to make this year a better edition!

We didn't get anyone in the breakaway, despite Serry's multiple attempts.

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/omloop02_zps548433f7.jpg

I think my biggest advantage here is my status of underdog. All eyes were on Tom Boonen, the new World Champion.

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/omloop03_zps523ec715.jpg

Therefor it was up to his team to do most of the work. Team Radioshack shared the resposibility to chose down the breakaway.

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/omloop04_zps09e91f30.jpg

I was nervous as hell, to be honest. And I was anxious, a bit too anxious. I tried to ride away over 50km from the finish. The result: I got a small group with me.

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/omloop07_zpsf0f81c74.jpg

As expected, we got caught fairly soon, and then Cancellara went his own way.

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/omloop05_zps42dfaf91.jpg

BMC and Quickstep did most of the chasing. We got reduced to a 20-man group. I had no one left of my team.

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/omloop06_zps69caef87.jpg

Starting the sprint, I followed Vansummeren's slipstream.

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/omloop08_zpsf1be4466.jpg

Boonen showed us he's ready for the new season!

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/omloop09_zpsd54f4a88.jpg

I was amazed, I was actually fighting Boonen! Hushovd came to play, too, but he was too late. World Champion Boonen took the win and I finish a very surprised second!

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/omloop10_zpsac56dcc1.jpg

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/omloop11_zps946b4227.jpg

I congratulated him and went to the tent to catch my breath. After 5 minutes, it came to me. A second place here, this is the start of a beautiful career. Sure, it isn't finishing 3th in Roubaix, like Boonen started his career, but it's a start!

Result

You came pretty close to doing a Vanmarcke. There will be possibilities in DdV or E3!

but that means that this Stijn will die too?

Ian Butler
JuanMotr - Well, he's come from a lot further. Stijn's current COB stat is the same as previous Stijn started with Pfft Thanks, I'm extremely glad with that result, didn't expect it!

Ollfardh - I was thinking about him for a moment, and then I thought: being 2nd would be awesome. I guess I should've been thinking: "winning would be awesome" Pfft

SSJ2Luigi - Of course not Wink

PCM rulezz
Nice 2nd place after the WC Smile
