2011 World Championships Road Cycling - Copenhagen

Not exactly mountainous - any chance of one for the pure climbers before the end of the decade?

Cavendish may not get another chance. I don't know what the terrain in Ponferrada in 2014 is like, but aside from that the earliest he might get a chance is 2016 (the city hasn't been announced yet)

Richmond 2015 may well try for Phinney as world champ

Please assume I am joking unless otherwise stated

The top climbers had Mendrisio with a ton of climbing metres. There's no need to have tailor-made Worlds for each kind of riders like this year with the sprinters.

Hey, Norway - "we own the world of cycling".

Just one question: How many medals did you get at this World Championship?

This WC was the 2nd time in less than a month that the Norwegians were sent home from Copenhagen utterly humiliated Pfft

(On a less important note: It was an amazing experience to be there along the route)

So, where did Matti finish? Or Mørkøv?

2nd time? Explain, if you please.

Yeah, having a 24-year old finishing 8th behind Cav, Cance, Goss etc. with nearly no help at all and being the best scandinavian rider was sooo humiliating.

(On a (not so) less important note: You remember that time the Denmark got a 1-2 in the TdF and 4 1/2 stage wins? Nah, me neither) Wink

Mørkøv? Ahead of the God of Thunder. That's some acheivement.
Oh, remember when a Norwegian rider won a Tour? Or a classic? I do. But I do drugs.

Well, I can name one thing that Bjarne Riis and Michael Rasmussen have in common (and it's not baldness).

I can name a lot of things:

Both are/were cyclists. Both wore the polkadots at some point. Both won the toughest mountainstage of a TdF. Both wore the Yellow jersey, and both are Danish.

That is basically the only relevant things I believe I can find, because if you are looking for the doping aspect you can't say that they had that in common. Bjarne Riis is an admitted doper, while Michael Rasmussen was banned for his whereabouts.

Anything else on your mind? Or are you just playing dumb/norwegian?

Who's being racist? This is just playful banter in which Norway is kicking Danish ass.

Og ikke kall oss fjellaper! Wink

I dont know why you are all so chauvinistic Shock
Denmark vs. Norway all the way and British still think they are ruling half of the world and the rest of Europe are barbarians. (especially the member with nonsense of humour).

Topic related i am looking for more difficult routes of WC in the next years.
I'll be back

Valkenburg 2012! Expect a race like the Amstel Gold Race, so a true puncheur (Gilbert, Purito, Cunego, even Schlecks, etc...) will become the World champ (probably after sprinting up the Cauberg with 50 riders...)
