I'm not so sure. Freire is moving to the right (from the perspective of the camera) before Valverde tries to come off his wheel to that side. Freire never changes his angle of attack, and no one is sprinting up that side (Valverde and co are following his wheel before trying to come around that side), so it is not a dangerous move. As for blocking, that same technique of pushing onto the boards so your opponent have less options for coming around, is used in every single sprint.
I honestly don't see anything wrong with that sprint.

You sprint in a straight line along the road unless you're coming off someone's wheel.
I don't think it was intentional either. But it was dangerous and it wasn't a straight line along the road.

Yeah, like that always happens. Without Valverde complaining for the last 50 meters, I don't think we would have seen a disqualification.

Freire complains he wasn't even told the win had been taken from him.
He does, however, concede the sprint was irregular. He blames the wind for it.
