did he actually win or was he "designated winner"?
EDIT: the vuelta a colombia is insane. each stage, someone wins by a few minutes, then fades the next.
Botero had lost buckets in all mountain stages. suddenly he won this one by a mile and he's back on top of the GC

He actually won. He beat Van Vansummeren in the breakaway sprint.
And those Columbians should get better at using dope.

Full team list for the Tour of Britain:
Agritubel, Barloworld, Chocolade Jacques, DFL - Cyclingnews, Duja - Tavira, Fuerteventura, Navigators Insurance, Plowman Craven, Rabobank Continental, Recycling.co.uk, Skil - Shimano, South Australia.com, Team CSC, Team Great Britain, Team Konica Minolta,Tinkoff Credit Systems
According to BBC, Team GB are trying to get David Millar and Geraint Thomas - although surely Thomas will ride for Barloworld? Im a little surprised that T-Mobile arent included. I think it may also be the first year in which Quick Step will not be racing.
cheers Sporting
yes very interesting that T-MO and Quickstep aren't there
will be good to see if Bos is riding for Rabo Cont. or not

yes and i said in my previous post (sorry if it wasnt clear), that now T-MO won't be riding the Tour of Britain, i don't know if he will ride for team GB or just miss the race completley as they aren't riding
i have a feeling he will ride for Team GB as in the link i posted above a T-MO official guy says they want to use him in the Tour of Britain, and now they aren't going they may let him ride for GB
EDIT: i just checked the date again on the release of that statement and it was said 26.07.2006
sorry bout that though it was from this year, but as T-MO aren't riding maybe he will ride for GB, or they may be using him in a different race copletley i don't know
sorry about that

Volta a Portugal stage 3 (4th if you count the prologue):
transition stage with the final uphill sprint won by Cândido Barbosa in national champion colours. Danail Petrov second, David Blanco third.
new overall leader is still MartÃn Garrido. the stage was run very slowly, so he held on
all the favorites finished up top in anticipation of the first REAL (although smallish) uphill finish which is tomorrow, and the first real mountain stage which is friday.
my TV went ka-boom, but luckily they're transmitting the Volta live on the official site
long live the internet!!

AS far as i can tell, Andy Schleck has never stood on the podium of the Tour de France. Bobby J has. Granted Schleck has not ridden the tour it is doubtfull he could get on the podium his first try. |

Levi, you CANNOT compare guys from different eras. compare them as they stand now or don't compare them. there is absolutely no sense in comparing guys from different eras. this isn't auto racing. you can't point and say "a-ha! less 1.4 seconds. x is the best." |

I just finished a race in Santa Rosa. I did the cat 5 race but stuck around for the cat 1,2,3 race. My coach's boyfriend is the manager for BMC so the relationship between my Juniors team and BMC is tight. As a result my teamate Ryan (14 and a cat 3) was racing with Scot Nydam and Nathan Miller. Nydam lead out the sprint from a group of 3 and lost ground on the windy part of the course. Nydam took third. Miller won the sprint from the group of 3 behind the first group. My friend Ryan did not finish and decided to watch the finish. His excuse for dropping out was that he had tired himself out unicycling the day before when in fact he had ridden my race as a warmup, the cat 4 race and took second, and then pulled in the break with Nydam and Miller.
Also at the race was a Priority Health guy (Not Ben Jaques-Mayne and 2 Organic Athlete Riders, along with the local gaggle. |
