looked the same as any normal sprint you'd see. cav was in front and took the quickest line which meant getting close to the barrier. hushovd shouldn't try to pass on the inside if he doesn't want to be forced into them.
if hushovd was good enough to beat cav there wouldn't be problem at all. they just don't want cav to win green.
it bulges But you can clearly see that when Cav see that Hushovd is coming on the right side he goes right and close the door and almost do so Hushovd crash... So he got what he deserved!!
I want to see a proper video of that, that has not been squeezed together.... i think he left his lane, but might be a bit biased, and as i was working, could not see the stage.

When Hushovd tried to pass Columbias train, Cavendish adopted a straight (yes, straight) line to get ahead of Hushovd. However, after the bulge, Cavendish corrects his line a little, so as to head straight for the line.
My point here is that the line that Cavendish chose after he saw Hushovds acceleration isn't a straight line all the way to the finish. It is only the fastest way to go if you want to pass the bulge very tightly (and thus block Hushovd).
