The Virgin Media Story starts HERE!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello and welcome today ill be going throught the australian championships wi my team Virgin Media, I know everyone is so excited do with no futher wait here we go!
Australian Championships
Team : Wesley Sulzberger (duh!)
With many of the favourite ready for the race wesley had also started his season hard, he went training with us in france before swift disapearing off to australia. His coach ove there looked after him and made sure he was ready!
A decent warm up spinning his legs put him right in the mood, his coach said "I think the road ride we did together yesterday did him good and hes really up for it!"
At the start line he looked composed and bursting to get going...
The peloton rolled on through the rolling land until bang! One of the back riders decks it, it looked like a Drapac rider, it was!
Lapthrone tipped by a few people to do a decent race cliped the back wheel of his team mate, even with the biggest team Drapac did nothing to drag him back, he did finish though!
We got to the last 1/3 of the race with a group of 5 riders still up the road with 1"30 in hand.
All of a sudden a small group split from the group involving no effort! !!Sulzberger was there! Great!!
Here he is moving away from Scott Davis, easily. This was not the front though, some big names were just ahead, O,grady, Rogers and a predictor looked like McEwen.
A big attack went on the left by O,Grady, he quickly gets 500m, he looked strong and had plenty left!
It was O,Grady's! Who would come second, Another rider had been spoted, Allan Davis. The sprint unload with McEwen looking dead, he had a 5 bike length lead on Davis until Davis decided to add the nitro, swiftly moving past.
Weres Sulzberger? As rogers comes in 4th we saw some riders, and yes it was him!
Wow, at this point we didnt know where he came but he almost caught the original break riders, great.
As O,Grady step on the podium the top ten was annouced,
Due to excel being broken i cant get top But...
1st - Stuart O'Grady
2nd - Allan Davis
3rd - Robbie Mcewen,
7th Wesley Sulzberger
What a result! He out sprinted G.Brown! More coming up |

I promised more and here its is (This would normally come just after the race report but i had so many problems last night!) Anyway heres some interviews.
Wesley Sulzberger
Q : So Wesley how do you find your first race?
A (Wesley) : Very good ive been aiming for a top ten and now that ive got im very pleased. It wasnt an easy race and i was worried about my climbing ability and i was work i couldnt make it ove the last main climb with the bunch.
Q : Whats next?
A : Well im staying here for a while longer now due to my team manager, who I thank for getting me into great shape, he got the last place in the Tour down under. So I looking forward to that and hope fully will be able to get a top ten again.
Q : Hows the Team?
A : Its amazing! No joke, its great that theres a team out there were you can catch a pro crontract for people so young, we have amazing traniers and setup is wonderful. It will be so great when we get into the proper continental races in europe i cant wait.
Q : Thanks a lot for the interview and well done 7th in your first race.
A : Thanks a lot.
Manger Report : Wesley did a super job and his coach gave him great orders, he stayed near to the front of the bunch all day, staying out of trouble and then at the end managed to get the gap on the main field. Im very happy for him and theres no dought he will do better. |
