Tour de Romandie
Stage 5
Time for mountains! This will suit me well and I hope that I can hold on to my top 3 spot today. Di Luca is the favourite together with me, but I'm not in such a great form yet, so don't expect a win here today.
Todays break consisted of just 2 riders, Hernandez (Astana) and Velasco (Euskaltel).
The action started on the last climb, and as usual, I was following Di Luca.
But my attack wasn't enough to keep up with him, instead he, Rohregger and Tschopp was in front.
I could only join the chasing group, including Losada, Van de Walle and Colom.
I felt that I had to do something, so I attacked..
and I almost caught the front group, but I was tired, and now it was time for the sprint!
No one could beat Di Luca, he was amazing today! Tachopp is keeping his jersey for another day.
Rohregger finished 3rd, and I had a great fight with Sandy Casar about the 4th place. Unfortunately, Casar won it.
A good stage from me, and I'm holding the podium spot. Hilly stage tomorrow and it will be tough for me then, my hill abilities isn't that great.

Stage 6
The breakaway stayed away today, and Amets Txurruka took the win!
Unfortunately I couldn't follow the best today, so I lost my 3rd place in the GC and went down to the 6th place instead. A little dissapointing, but I know that I'm not the best in the hills. I must work with that.
Johann Tschopp crossed the line together with me, so he lost the yellow jersey at the last day, to Danilo Di Luca..

KOM:
A good race from me, and now I know that I can fight with the best. Because I'm not in top shape, so in the Giro I hope to follow some of the favourites at least in the mountains.

Here are the ProTour rankings, and if you only look at this you can see that we have had a great year so far. I'm almost in the top 30, and that's just great. Being one of the best 30 best in the world is just amazing!

Yes, it was weak.. And it will be interesting to see all the starters in the Giro. I don't know anything about the starters, but probably Di Luca will be there.

Gustavs Diary - 5th of May
Home again from Suisse, a great race there, 2 wins and one 2nd. My preparation before the Giro is going great and I think that I will be in great form soon.
So, time for the Giro, my absolute biggest season goal. As I have said earlier, I want to make it to a top 10. Last year I finished 14th, so I want to be better this year. It will be tough, but it will all depend on how many good riders will enter the first GT of the year.
It feels great to be the team leader, to know that my team mates are working for me, that's a special feeling. This year we have brought an all scandinavian squad to the Giro. From the beginning McCartney was meant to participate also, but he got injured.. I will do a team presentation later, but I can say that the team's got many good TT riders. Because the first stage is a 20 km long TTT.
I'm pretty afraid of the hilly stages, but I hope that I won't lose to much time there. If I can ride good in the mountains and the hills, and then do my best in the TTs, I think that I can accomplish my goal. My TT skills do really help me here, because this years route has got 3 TTs, two TTs and one TTT. The Giro will end with a TimeTrial, a 21 km long, also in the middle of the race, a 62 km long TT will come, and there I hope to shine and win many seconds on the other riders!
After the Giro I will take a racing break, and I think that my next race after the Giro will be the Swedish Championships. After that I will start my preparation for Post Danmark Rundt. Where I hope to win.
I will end with some great news: I've signed a new contract with SaxoBank and that feels great to have done before the Giro. So I will stay with SaxoBank at least one year more, and after that I'll maybe move. I want to be a TdF leader once in my career, and that won't happen in SaxoBank.

Team SaxoBank team presentation
Leader:
Gustav Larsson: I don't think I have to introduce myself, you know who I am and what I want to do here.
Sprinter:
Alex Rasmussen: Alex is our man for the sprints, and we don't expect to much, some top 10s would be great. He's also here for the TTT on stage 1.
Breakaway:
André Steensen: Will go for the breakaways and maybe try to get the KOM jersey early on.
Team Mates:
Kasper Klostergaard:Here for the experience.
Michael Mörköv: Here for the experience.
Lasse Böchman: "My" team mate, he will protect me from the wind in all the stages.
Lars Bak: Will probably get water bottles for me and Lasse on harder stages.
Jonathan Bellis: When I wrote that it was going to be an all Scandinavian squad here, I was wrong. The young brit Bellis is here too.
Anders Lund: Lund will be the rider who gives waterbottles to us on the flat stages.

Hello everyone !
There are a lot of stories on the forum right now, and as you probably have seen, this story have had a break. I was just wondering if you want me to continue with this, will you read it? Because I will lose my motivation if no one reads this. I don't want to be in the shadows of all the other stories. But if you want me to continue, comment and I'll start writing again. I've already done a few stages of the Giro

I quite enjoy this story, you are much more competative than many other single riders which makes it interesting, also you have a nice writing style.

Giro d'Italia
Stage 1
It's finally, finally here! Giro d'Italia 2009, my biggest goal of the year. This is what I've been waiting for a long time. Last year I finished 14th, and this year I want to do better. But it's going to be tough, even though the startlist isn't that scary. Denis Menchov is the favourite, and stars like Kim Kirchen, Damiano Cunego, Yaroslav Popovych and Tadej Valjavec is also here.
We will start off this Giro with a Team Time Trial and we are one of the favourites to take the win today. But I don't expect to much, our team is very unexperienced so I don't expect a win today. But I don't want to lose more than a minute.
First off was Caisse d'Epargne and they had a pretty good team on paper with riders such as Jose Ivan Gutierrez and Vasili Kiriyenka. They rode good today and held the lead for a pretty long time.
Liquigas hopes to get a top 5 spot with Roman Kreuziger here, but today they didn't show their skills. 18th today, +1,20.
Rabobank rode well and took the lead from Caisse d'Epargne.
Lampre worked pretty bad together, and Cunego lost some useful seconds. They couldn't match Rabobank at all.
The favourites today, Team Columbia, showed their TT skills and took the lead from Rabobank.
Not a good start for Astana, even slower than Lampre.
It was an amazing feeling to stand at the line, to know that in a few seconds you would start one of the biggest races in the world, as a team leader.
The team was working good together and I lead the team over the line, slower than Columbia of course, but we didn't do a bad TTT.
Team Katusha started after us and finished 1 second faster.
No team could threat Columbia today, Michael Rogers will be wearing the pink jersey tomorrow.

Giro d'Italia
Stage 2
Sprinters stage today, and I just want to stay with the pack, without being involved in any crashes.
Rogers at the line, first leader of the Giro 2009.
Todays break.
They got caught and Sergei Ivanov took the only KOM sprint today, so he will be the first wearer of the KOM jersey this year.
The small climbs on the end made the sprinters tired, and I was at the front when the sprint teams started to make trains. But their sprinters were tired, and I saw Rogers up there, so I followed him! I just thought, why not?
I understood that Rogers didn't have the legs that I had, so I tried to pass him, and with 1 km left I was in front. But Thomas Vaitkus was coming fast on the right.
On the line it was very tight, and I didn't know if I had got the win when I crossed the line. But I realised that I had surprised everyone when Bjarne Riis rushed to hug me!
A fantastic stage! No one expected this, and maybe it was a bad decision to sprint today, but my legs were feeling great, and I don't think I will lose much on this later in the race. Hopefully not..
