Paris-Nice
We did well last year when we were invited, 15th place of Vicioso pleased the whole team. But this season we hope more from him. He wont win but we want a good result and a stage victory would be nice too. Andreas Kloden will be also be in it just to be introduced to the art of doping.
The Squad:
Prologue
Michael Rogers – 28th
Angel Vicioso – 14th
Marco Pinotti (literally flying) – 9th Place
Lars Boom –6th Place
Sebastian Lang – 3rd Place
Andreas Kloden - 2nd Place
José Ivan Gutierrez – The winner!

yep absolutely outstanding result!!
i think it was because of the lateral wind. if you take a better look you'll notice that I made a mistake and forgot to choose TT equipment for Kloden! As the wind was about 60 I think my mistake turned into something beneficial!!
otherwise I must conclude he has consumed before the race...

4th Stage
The heavy rain made roads too dangerous for many riders today as H. Zubeldia could tell
At the last hill CSC and Silence-Lotto reduced the gap to the front to 1min. The breakaway of the day (which contained O’Grady) had its days counted.
Some fools tried to attack when Piepoli (CSC) was setting the pace but none got lucky. And then it was F.Schleck! This was the moment! Valverde went after him as well as Vicioso!
He couldn’t reach Valverde before the top… but in the final descent Schleck and his compatriot were on his sight. On the other hand the bunch was 30’’ behind .
At the finish line Schleck won once more in front of Valverde while Vicioso got caught by the bunch during the sprint. Fortunately he was still able to finish in the top 10. Zaballa and Kloden also finished in the peloton.

5th Stage
Today’s stage has only truly began with the terrible ascent to Mont Ventoux
The first lunatics to attack were french as expected: Moncoutié, Moreau and Casar with Visconti making company
In the bunch it was CSC, Caisse d’Epargne and Silence-Lotto the working teams. Meanwhile Vicioso showed he was not at his best and so the priority of the team turned to Kloden who was in a much worst form as he’s season had only began 4 days ago…
The next attacks became once more by a Italo-French coligation featuring Savoldelli and Gadret but they didn’t go to far.
As they were caught, Rogers left the peloton like a train followed by Gomez Marchante
At the moment Vicioso was saying goodbye to the GC as he broke down with 4km to the top. But maybe he could recover in the downhill
Some meters after that, the omnipresent Barredo launched an attack. Valverde, Casar, Popovych and many others went with him but none was able to create a gap. Meanwhile, Rogers Gomez Marchante and Moreau were caught by Piepoli’s peloton.
For some moments the suspense was unbearable until Schleck’s attack! Yes it was him once more!
During all the struggle more terrible news! Kloden couldn’t keep the pace up front! With only 1km to the top of the climb he was relegated to a 2nd group.
At the top nobody could create a gap and so Moncoutié who was the only remaining from the first attacks began the descent with 1’15’’ to the favorites group which had 1’45’’ to Kloden’s group
Eventually the french was caught with 10km to the finish. The main group would decide the victory in a final sprint, the yellow jersey Valverde being the main favorite.
Barredo had decided that he didn’t want a sprint and so he attacked with 3km to go. I would say he didn’t stand a chance.
Well be surprised!! At the end he got what he needed he had beat everybody!! Casar and Gomez Marchante completed the podium while Valverde was the last of the group with Popovych!
With more than 2’ behind arrived Kloden. He just couldn’t do better than that. Let’s just hope he performs best when he’s in shape… As to Vicioso…he was history…

I don't know if the equipment has some effect on that.
Great story! |

that was the only answer I could come up with because it's really weird a rider with 58 fitness with no TT equipment reach second place in such a contested prologue...
and thanks by the way
its just a shame that Paris Nice isnt such as great.... maybe Tirreno Adriatico will be more worth it with Di Luca with good chances

Tirreno-Adriatico
While part of the squad was in France for Paris-Nice, some other riders took a plain to Italy to deal with our Italian doping suppliers. During the visit I phoned Di Luca and told him there was some sort of big race going on and we were supposed to participate. Di Luca (also known as “Il Padrino” in his land) got all the equipment using his contacts. By the night all the team was ready for it with fantastic material. The next day RaiUno’s journalists talked about a massive operation in all Italy in which bike sellers were blackmailed by the Mafia. Di Luca denied all the accusations. So talking about the race:
1st Stage (simmed)
1st – Mark Cavendish THR
2nd – Tom Boonen QST s.t.
3rd – Gert Steegmans QST s.t.
4th – André Greipel THR s.t.
5th – Gerald Ciolek THR s.t.
GC
1st – Mark Cavendish THR
2nd – Tom Boonen QST +4’’
3rd – Gert Steegmans QST +9’’
4th – André Greipel THR +13’’
5th – Gerald Ciolek THR +13’’

Today we had some excitement as Tondo went crazy with Di Luca. He said he wouldn’t ride for him it should be the opposite order!!
Then they had a discussion that ended when Danilo said that if he didn’t shut up he would make a call to his fellow Mobsters!
So with the team spirit in a high mood we faced the second stage…
