You could do it a complex way any put all the pictures in one image (as layers) and have one selection. then cycle through the layers coping and pasting...
Well this is quite annoying. I can't seem to figure out any way to adjust the images how I want them. Smoothie's suggestion was a little too complex for my computer skills (or lack thereof) to handle, so I guess I can't do that two images side-by-side-thingy anymore. Any suggestions to a new layout?
Thanks to Smoothie for providing me with a new image editor
March 15th:Paris-Nice 2007 – Stage 4 | Maurs la Jolie > Mende – 169,5 km
Stage 4 Profile
GC riders only. Today we’ll get the first real hint of who will be climbing highest on the podium, when we arrive in Nice in three days. None of the favourites can have an off day today, as the finale is at the savage climb, Montée Laurent Jalabert. 3,1 km with a gradient of 10,1 %, now that’s some interesting figures. Fränk and Jens was really focused today. Fränk had really surprised himself after rocking the time-trial setting the 9th best time, so eventhough Jens is our captain for this race, we might witness a swap for that job after today.
It started out the usual way, a breakaway got away. Today it was a 9-man group containing, Michael Rogers (TMO), Vanotti (LIQ), Piepoli (SDV), Mercado (AGL), Seeldrayers (QSI), Mazet (AST), Rujano (UNI), Monnerais (FDJ) and Turpin (A2R). We decided on not participating in the break keeping all riders in the pack to protect Jens and Fränk, who were facing a very big task at the end of this day. After seeing how Rabobank controlled the events on the earlier stages we trusted the dutch team to keep a leash on the break and reel them in later.
With a 100 km to go the gap topped at about 9 minutes. 15 km later the pace got so high in the breakaway that it was split up, with Seeldrayers and Rogers leading the race. The two of them worked nicely together and with 50 km to go they lead by 2 minutes to the chasing group, with the peloton another minute and a half behind.
Michael Rogers surprisingly tried his luck from way out today, but was kept in a leash by an incredibly strong riding Rabobank team
With 40 km to go it was all over for the chasing group as they were reeled in by the peloton and another 10 km later it was also goodnight for Seeldrayers and Rogers as they couldn’t hold off the comeback of the pack.
With 12 km to go, we took the lead in the peloton. A lot of Rabobank riders had been dropped as a result of the hard work done by them, and as we really wanted something out of today, we took over the control of the pack. At this point, yellow jersey-wearer Thomas Dekker only had Mauricio Ardila left to support him. With 8 km to go we hit the second last climb of the day, the Côte de Chabris, a 2nd category climb with an average slope of 6,8 % over 2,4 km. We were leading the pack at a high pace to control things before we got to the penultimate climb, but other riders wanted something else and as Juan José Cobo launched a amazing attack, we had no choice but to follow him with Fränk and Jens. Four other riders joined them, it was John Gadret (A2R), Garate (QSI), Chavanel (COF) and Ten Dam (UNI). So no Kashechkin, Dekker, Evans or Schumacher.
Saunier Duval’s hope for the GC, JJ Cobo launched a strong attack at the Côte de Chabris, which only six riders could follow
Cobo got over the top along, but only about 10 seconds ahead of the chasing group, who were about 30 seconds ahead of the pack. We told Fränk and Voigt to do short relays in order to hold Cobo within reach, so that the strongest of the two could attack on the final climb.
Only after a few hundred metres on the Montée Laurent Jalabert, Cobo was caught and it looked to be showdown between these 7 riders. Fränk and Jens was feeling very strong, and with 2 km to go Jens launched an attack. It seemed as though he would get away, but Cobo reacted and reeled him back in. Meanwhile there was a series of attacks in the peloton, with Dekker being the one most worth mentioning. Besides Dekker, also Kashechkin(AST), Valjavec (LAM), Sánchez (CAI), Kirchen (TMO) and Vila (LAM) got away. Meanwhile the leading group crossed the flame rouge as they entered the last km. Voigt was hurting a bit, so we gave Schleck the order to abandon his captain in search of a stage victory and Schleck was even stronger then we could’ve imagined, with no problems he rode away from the group. Garate and Cobo tried to follow but they couldn’t.
Schleck immediately opened a gap on about 10 seconds to the two spaniards, while Dekker had joined up with Voigt, Chavanel, Gadret and Ten Dam. But it was too little too late for Dekker, as he couldn’t do anything about Fränk Schleck, who won the stage after an amazing effort. Voigt redeemed himself finishing in the same time as Dekker in 6th, 21 seconds behind team mate and new leader’s jersey wearer Fränk Schleck.
Fränk Schleck at the stage winner’s interview: Today was just perfect for me. Jens Voigt was our designated leader, but unfortuneately he didn’t have the legs to finish the job today, but luckily we were in a great position as both me and Jens were in the leading group on the final climb. Cobo was really strong today, but we managed to wear him down, as both me and Jens attacked him on the final climb. I really have to thank the team, because they did an amazing job before the Côte de Chabris, setting both me and Jens in perfect positions for the finale and I’m really happy that we could give something in return for the outstanding work today.
Interviewer: What are your chances of defending the yellow jersey from now on?
Fränk: It’s hard to tell right now, I mean, I’m in super shape, but so are my opponents and they are not far behind in the GC. But it’s an important jersey and this is a very big race and as I’m here now I will most certainly give it a shot.
Fränk Schleck won one of his biggest victories today at the top of Montée Laurent Jalabert and he also won the yellow jersey

March 16th:Paris-Nice 2007 – Stage 5 | Sorgues > Manosque – 178 km
Stage 5 Profile
Today’s stage wasn’t as hard as yesterday and at team briefing just before the stage got underway, we told the team just to control any breakaways and just them ride home to fight it out for victory. If other teams wanted to reel them in, then we would of course let them. Today isn’t important for the GC, it’s more like a prelude for the last two stages.
When the stage was started the whole team was lined up side by side in the front of the pack and Fränk was really enjoying riding through the departure city in the yellow jersey. The crowd was cheering the team on and it was really a great experience eventhough it’s not at all the first time we’ve been sitting here in the yellow jersey, but that was before I was in the team. Bobby Julich won in 2005 and Jörg Jaksche won in 2004.
The stage went surprisingly easy, a group consisting of Brouzes (AUB), Putsep (BTL), Rogers (TMO), Lloyd (PRL), Scholz (GST), Mengin (FDJ), Peña Iza (EUS), Spezialletti (LIQ), Piepoli (SDV), Morabito (AST), Seeldrayers (QSI), Mercado (AGL), Van Goolen (DSC), Turpin (A2R) and Lopez Garcia (GCE), got away.
While Fränk enjoyed himself in the yellow jersey, there were still a few riders who had some ambitions for the stage
Van Goolen was the best placed rider in the GC from the break, with 4’51 to Schleck. With 80 km left to race, he was also the virtual leader as the group at this point were 6 minutes ahead of the peloton. So we decided to step it up a notch, not to reel them in, but to keep Van Goolen within range. We didn’t work alone for a long time as Rabobank and Astana helped us out already after 5 km of slightly increased pace. 10 km later, Schleck was back in the lead, which meant that we let Astana and Rabobank work a bit more than us, as they were obviously looking for a stage win today.
But it was going to be tough. With 30 km, the gap had only decreased to 3 minutes and with 20 km to go the breakaway still had more than two minutes on the pack. With 12 km to go there was a small climb, which wasn’t categorized and as we didn’t want to take any risks we ordered Jens and Fränk up front, so they were ready if anything should happen. Nothing did happen however, and on the descent it was clear that the breakaway was just gonna make it. During today’s stage former polka dot jersey wearer Ronny Scholz had reclaimed the lead in that competition by winning all of the mountain sprints.
As the breakaway riders entered the last km, aussie Michael Rogers took a chance and tried bursting away from the group on a tiny hill, Mengin who seemed the fastest sprinter in the group managed to follow him and overtake him with Ronny Scholz in his wheel. Scholz had already won the polka dotted jersey, but he also wanted the stage. But Mengin proved to fast for the german as he won one of his biggest victories of his very long career. Very nice job by the 38-year old veteran.
The peloton came very fast on the last km and just managed to clock same time as the breakaway riders. Fränk and Jens came through perfedctly today without any problems.
The green jersey is really up for grabs right now as Freire won the sprint of the peloton to score 9 points while Boonen didn’t manage a single point.
Mengin was the strongest in the breakaway group as he closed the door on Ronny Scholz and Michael Rogers in the sprint to win stage 5

Controlling the breaks, not nescecarily reeling them in, but just preventing the breakaway riders in gaining too much time in the GC, depending how much time they've already lost. Usually the other team help me out like today, but I have some great roleurs in the squad, so it's no problem really.

March 17th:Paris-Nice 2007 – Stage 6 | Brignoles > Cannes – 200 km
Stage 6 Profile
Another day in yellow. Fränk was again feeling good, so for him the plan was simple: Follow any attacks on the last climb today. The last 12 km today is on flat road, so it could be hard for the favourites to escape the pack on the Col du Tanneron, but we were expecting something from Stefan Schumacher as he wasn’t having the Paris-Nice he was hoping for, being placed 15th in the GC, 2’31” behind Schleck. But we were confident that Fränk would be able to follow Schumacher as he has really got a world class helper in Jens Voigt.
Same story as the other days, a break got away, this time we were represented by Nicki Sørensen, and the plan was also to have a guy in the breakaway as we wanted to avoid working too much in the pack today, so we could save some of our teammates strenght for tomorrow’s all-deciding stage to Nice. Nicki was accompanied by McCartney (DSC), Chainel (AUB), Zaugg (GST), Dueñas Nevado (AGL), Hansen (TMO), Fofonov (C.A), Mazet (AST) and Rujano (UNI).
Cofidis, Rabobank and Saunier Duval was working very hard for their respective captains, Sylvain Chavanel, Thomas Dekker and JJ Cobo, today, meaning that the breakaway didn’t get more than 5 minutes on the peloton. With 100 km to go, the deficit was down to 1’10”, but at this moment three riders attacked from the peloton. It was Moreau (A2R), Rodriquez (GCE) and Tonti (QSI), and this trio joined up with the breakaway riders 15 km later on the 3rd category climb Col de Saint-Arnoux. Everyone got dropped except from Nicki, who clung onto the leaders over the climb.
The breakaway group was torned into pieces when Moreau, Rodriquez and Tonti joined them and increased the pace
This gave the four-man group some breathing space and with 60 km to go they had a 2-minute lead over the pack. Nicki got dropped from the group with 35 km to the finish and he was quickly reeled in. As the peloton hit the last climb of today, the 2nd category Col du Tanneron, it was all over for Moreau, Rodriquez and Tonti. With its gradient of 5,3 % over 5,8 km, the Col du Tanneron is far from the hardest climb, and as the last 12 km are flat, it will be hard for any breakaway riders to hold off the pack.
Half way up the climb, Schumacher and Dekker attacked, Fränk hesitated a bit before Voigt accelerated after the two riders with Fränk on his wheel. Also Tadej Valjavec and Andrey Kashechkin got away from the pack, forming a 6-man leading group, with JJ Cobo and Luis León Sánchez chasing.
Thomas Dekker tried to upset Fränk, but he wasn’t to be scared by the dutchman on the Col du Tanneron today
The pack didn’t gain much time on the descent, but as the riders hit the flat, the gap began coming down, eventhough it looked impossible for the pack to catch up. With 4 km to go, Cobo and Sánchez had caught up with the leading group, while the pack was about 50 seconds off the pace.
The leaders looked strong enough to hold off the pack, eventhough it was coming really fast on the flat road right outside Cannes
It was now clear that the leader would make it, but we knew we didn’t have anything to do in the sprint against Kashechkin and Schumacher, so the finish became really tactical as we didn’t wanted to work a whole lot. We had Fränk where we wanted him and it was up to the other GC riders to shake him. But as no one attacked, we decided to give it a go anyway. We told Voigt to take the lead with Fränk behind him, so that he could act lead-out man for him. But Schumacher was placed right behind and he was definitely going to win today, Voigt sprinted really well however, denying Fränk second place. Fränk did manage a few bonus seconds as he came in third. Because of the tactical games in the group the peloton got really close and the closed the gap on the home stretch meaning that the recorded same time as the leading group. Oscar Freire took over the green jersey today after finishing 2nd in the sprint of the peloton, while Mazet of Ástana took over the polka dotted jersey after winning some mountain sprints underway.
Stefan Schumacher finally got something out of his participation in this race by winning stage 6 ahead of Jens and Fränk
Another great day for us as Voigt moved to 2nd in the GC as a result of the bonus seconds he won, maybe we will have to guys on the podium for tomorrow.
