The race continues to be an enjoyable experience for us, with Nerz showing his climbing abilities and yet another another break saving Ciolek (for likely the last time though). Nerz enters the Top 10 now and I hope he can keep that spot and maybe even challenge Reis and Galta.
Congrats Haute Route for a great PT win! It got scarily close in the end.
The next stage is an ambivalent one, suiting Mager very well who I hope will be visible in some way throughout it, but at the same time being tough on Nerz. However I'm hopeful it has a decent mo/hill-ratio from the looks of it.

Another very solid stage from Abal, Im kinda glad we did not get the jersey on this stage we have not got a good team here to defend it, so just ride with Dekker on the hills and then attack on the last stage |

Great to see a rider I developed taking out a PT stage win. Very good ride by Anguilet.
Also very pleasing to see Keinath on the attack. Would have hoped for him to at least stick with Nerz though, and so he remains on the border of the Top 10.
Sicard hasnt had a good season, so a nice sign of turnaround - but I'd rather Dekker or Abal won, so good to see the close fight continuing there.

Strong ride from Sicard, but Anguilet is the one who takes the top cherry. Anyway impressive to see PCT teams to actually go 1-2 in one of the main stages of Dauphine. Kudos!
Nice to see Gaspar take the initiative to join the break. Reis still quiet but climbing another position in the GC is pleasing. As ember I'd like to see him climb a couple more places, but he'll likely be on the defensive stand in the next couple of stages rather.

Powerful ride from Sicard. I thought he'd make up for more of the time he's lost, but we'll have to settle with this. Hopefully, he can carry that kind of performance onto the next stages. |

Yet another incredible effort by the team, so far we've had great success here and I just hope we can finish it well tomorrow.
Nerz should've rather been in a Haig/Abal position (feeling really sorry for Jayco in particular) than fighting for the stage win with 72 hill, but a lot of things are upside down in this Dauphine. Therefore I'm definitely not complaining about a late sprint preventing an even better result. The fifth Top 5 result in six stages for Puma, how could I be mad...
Reis and Galta didn't concede much time and are still very close, and I'm kinda glad Nibali stayed ahead of that bunch after his misfortune. I wouldn't want to take his GC position that way.
Last stage up ahead now.
The anxiety is palpable, with so many riders right around Nerz. A single tiny split right at the end, or missing a decisive move, can be the difference between 6th and 11th. And the stage certainly looks tough.
I also hope that Mager can stay in the Top 20 overall or attack one last time, that Ciolek can stay third in the points (only Abal might challenge), and we've also had a steady rise in the teams classification where we hopefully take some additional points from this race in the end.

PCM really is a joke... This race should never work out well for my team, and now look... After 7/8 stages we have 3 guys sitting in the top 25, are riding attractively and even are 2nd in the team rankings... That whilst Pluchkin was a massive dissappointment and Nepomnyachsniy is a crashing-machine...

I hoped Smirnovs would join the break again but maybe he was considered too good for tha. Regardless, Siskevicius performed well and took a podium spot which - while being the expectation - is good.
I really hope Smirnovs will join the final break to defend his jersey. Starting at the front due to the jersey doesnt give him any excuse for failure

ouch, he waited untill his last hill stage where he had already had a podium and a little chance to win the race before he showed his real hill stat.
Abal have overperformed in almost every other hill stage so far so I cant really complain but it suck a bit neverthless. Espacially when guys like Hirt, Nerz and Cattaneo rode almost 2 mins better.
I really hope he can bounce back tomorrow and keep his 3rd place atleast.
Cort Nielsen not riding like a teammate, not helping Abal and came in with the group infront but he climb up to 24th in GC so thats ok.
Congrats to the win roturn! |

Cool to see Vanendert and Didier doublewhamming it, too bad it wasn't crowned by success. But one of the few efforts this month in total, so I appreciate it.

I see the results must be a little off, as Keinath is actually up to 10th overall now - ahead of Hirt. A shame that no more stage results are available, particularly to see Haig - who is bizarrely unlucky, which sucks to see. It would have been interesting to see where Van der Lijke finished too.
This is exactly what Keinath needed to do though, making gains on those weaker in the hills - although a shame to again be losing time on Nerz, and not to have gained on Galta, Reis and Cattaneo. The Dekker group is where he should have been finishing.
It was a great effort by Gastauer. Unlucky that this was the one stage it all got chased down, as a clear win was on the cards otherwise. At least the KoM improvement is something to take out of the day.

Kastrantas was, on paper, the right man for today so I can't feel bad for him not getting anything from it. Stronger riders were in the group, and finally also were chased down by the GC riders.
Tomorrow is the last chance for Vasyliv to make an impact on the GC. He has been very underwhelming in his fight for top 15-20, so he needs to attack - hopefully he will be able to do something.

Not bad on a hilly stage from Mattia. Hoping for some stunt on the last stage, but a 5th would be good anyway

Again Jayco going down the cliff so randomly, what a shame. Same for Pendelton's with has become a month to forget with a no-show from Dombrowski in Suisse. And Abal too. He was pretty reliable thus far in hilly stages, but seemed to have saved his worst legs of the season for today.
Such a random stage... Reis finished strongly in 6th, in a terrain where he could have easily lost time. Things look very interesting for the positions outside the top5. Hopefully we're in for a treat tomorrow!

As Gustavovskiy says, what a random stage. Lucky to see Galta only loose half a minute to the first group and keeping 8th place overall. Nerz is a rider he really should beat in the mountains, though, but admittedly there hasn't been much to prove that this race.
It would be nice if he could climb another spot, but on the other hand Reis is just behind, who proved in the Vuelta that he's capable of outclimbing Galta. Looking forward to that decisive stage!
And congratulations, roturn! Can't imagine you pre-season thought Dekker could win or eveen podium a PT stage race, but Dekker surely looks to have this in the bag now.
And thank you for the report, AbhishekLFC. It's a joy to know there will always be a report every day, even when not being able to comment the same day as the stage |

Indeed. You have had a pretty rough season in terms of bad luck. A bit of good luck here and there also of course, but much like Tinkoff it will be a season that is referred to as bad luck.
Impressive how high you are in the rankings considering the amount of bad luck, especially for your team leaders. That must be quite comforting in terms of next season. You should be easily fighting for top 5 next season by simply keeping your team intact and making a little bit of training. Hell even top 3 seems realistic.

Great stage and great report.
Not really sad about not getting the stage win with Mattia climbing into a podium here. Really great!
Not to forget Egger, getting 15th GC here and picking up some valuable points. Great stage for us!
