True. Take me for example. I was born in the same friggin' church as Boonen, and I don't like him.
(ok it was the church next to it but you get my point. ) |

Depends when it's a rider you know and appreciate, you'll still prefer him over another one in a race (I've ridden against Vaugrenard, Gérard, the Monnerais brothers, etc.), or maybe you'll dislike them more than other ones (G. Bernaudeau B) ).
Else than that, I tend to prefer Frenchies over foreign riders. I'm not generalising, and there are loads of Frenchies I dislike and many foreign riders I appreciate, but I see them as "victims" of the antidoping fight, so I tend to sympathize with them. |

Very nice ride by Cunego, Schleck was very strong but unfortuneately Cunego can just hold his wheel and outsprint. Not the prettiest way of doing it but effective surely.
On a sidenote, what happened to Dekker's proclaimed ass-whoopin' of Frank Schleck?

Dekker got pwned B)
Bleed it out
In the wreckage of a job well done
I saw a place I'd never seen before, yeah
And that moment I refused to close my eyes anymore

Dekker actually said he'd whoop Schleck's ass? I highly doubt that. That would just be a stupid statement.
I think he said he'd whoop his ass in the sprint, but Rebellin let a whole and Dekker either couldn't reach Schlecks wheel, or just couldn't keep up. |

And btw, did you see Hugo Sabido? He's like in the top-50... And the sad part is that that is actually a good result...

You're way off when it comes to my case... Take today's race for example. In all of those 170 guys there were only 3 riders that I would like to see winning it (Frank Schleck, Gilbert and Sabido[by this order]) and it's fairly simple to understand why... I like the first two... I don't care about the positions of all the others... But between the ones I don't really care about, I'd like the ones I can relate to (Sabido and Paulinho) to do better than anyone else... It's not a question of nationalism as much as it is a question of beeing able to relate to a rider, club, etc...

That was what I was thinking too. |

On a sidenote, what happened to Dekker's proclaimed ass-whoopin' of Frank Schleck? He said he feared Valverde, Cunego and Rebellin (and he was right), and he was wrong about Schleck, still he estimated the result 75% correct (3 of 4 names in front of him)
Oh and, at least TD kicked Andy Schlecks ass, again for the 14th time (vs 3) |

Oh and a last tip for the silly danes: try to read my posts or dekkers answers better before you start twisting his words again...
Also, take a note of the age difference before you talk about "being pwned"... It's a bit laughable Fränk Schleck was nowhere when he was 23 |

lol Ruben
I think everybody appreciates Dekkers cockyness (is that a word?) It's refreshing to have an athlete actually saying something other than the usual nothingness (is that a word?). It's even more blatant with Cavendish. The ego of the young Brit is out of this world, and even though his statements often makes me laugh, I would certainly miss them if he suddenly wised up, and started to think before he opened his mouth.
About the race. Caisse could've/should've played their cards differently. With both Rodriquez and Valverde in the deciding group, they had the chance to decimate the group even further, and had they attacked along with Schleck, they could've done so, no doubt.
In either scenario, Cunego would've won though. He was magnificent.!
...oh, and when will Rabo stop riding for Freire in this race? Poor Gesink |

I wasn't able to watch the race
and I won't be able to see the highlights until tonight (hopefully). Was it a good race? I mean exciting to watch - it seems Cunego deserved his victory by reading the comments on this page |

lol dont get so defensive, i didnt mean to attack you or something, just thought van summeren isnt that bad as you made him out to be a while ago, afterall he has won the tour of poland lol
And at least the 'mighty Belgians' have won two classics already, and I dont mean pseudo-classics like the Amstel Gold Race, who technically shouldnt even be called a classic since a classic is a race with tradition who has more than 50 editions to its name ;-) |
