if you don't know how (even though it's easy), better not risk it. ask them to do it.

thanks very much, this will now convince my mum that we don't need to go to PC World
but this part
"Open the case and locate the AGP slot--it's the brown-plastic slot typically found above the white-plastic PCI slots. Make sure you first ground yourself by first touching a metal part of your PC case or by wearing an antistatic wrist strap."
what do you touch?

i think i have found one i like called Inno3D Geforce 8500GT 800MHz 512MB Graphics Card by nVidia, it is compatible with dx10 and is £50, as i don't really want to spend huge amounts on it
it is on Amazon
i don't know if it is any good, but it has a good name
i haven't fully decided to buy it yet, but it is my favourite so far

final question and this will be a stupid question but, if i get the graphics card i mentioned above which is a dx10 card
would that still be able to play games that are only compatible with dx9??
EDIT: well that was my 2nd last question, i saw something which said make sure you buy a graphics card that fits in your slot, how do you know which one to buy??
those will hopefully be my last questions on the graphics card matter

check what motherboard you have.
call the store or something, ask them if the card is compatible with your motherboard.
search the web.
