Well, they had him scheduled for the Giro, he only has himself to thank for that one.
The Tour is totally out of question - GVA is the stage hunter and one of the best at that and they have 6 riders dedicated for TJ and Porte.
I don't know why he wouldn't ride the Vuelta, source? That makes no sense. |

It is classic act when team and rider path will separate with nasty ways. Happened so many times before. |

Its still potentially good exposure, tho. Especially when all of your focus is on the Tour. |

Yeah I'd like to see a source for this as well, he was never doing the Tour and as you said he was going to race the Giro but him getting shirty with a car driver and the resulting broken finger ruled that out. My understanding was that he was always leaving BMC after this year anyway

I always say about EBH that he needs to find a speciality and stick to it. He does now seem to have focussed more on the classics but in the past he doesn't seem to know himself what kind of rider he is. Sprinter? TT'er? Cobbled Classics? Small Tour Winner?
That was his problem at Sky. Sky have an out and out leader and the whole team rides for that leader. EBH never really knew what kind of racer he was and so Sky would never commit to riding all out for him in major races.
Maybe his performance at Paris-Roubaix this year is a sign of potential things to come. |

Italian Federation investigating Arnaud Demare’s Milan-San Remo victory
https://www.cyclingnews.com/news/itali...o-victory/
Why has it taken this long? If they were going to investigate this then it should of happened in the week after the race. It really does feel like everything moves at a snails pace when it comes to cycling

I would have thought with all of the GPS technology available now it would have been easy to say if he was guilty or not. Either he went up the last hill at 50mph or he didn't |

Well, if there is anything pro cycling has taught me, then it is that Demare won't get punished, and we will still be arguing this in five years.

Had one of his best springs, super good signing. He has been a beast and hopefully will be in Le Tour as well, 2011-style. Still remember cheering him up the Pra Martino and leaving supposedly much better climbers in the dust. |

I remember watching that stage and it was a real racers stage, a 2011 EBH at the Tour this year would be a sight to see

No joke, he was the best rider in that Tour, he was so incredibly strong. I also remember peak Hushovd and Gilbert, they were monsters as well in that same Tour |

The Russian doping scandal continues to get worse for them. Accusations of them covering up drug cheating at the Sochi Winter Olympics with government agents/officials involved.
https://www.bbc.co...s/36245334
Is it really a possibility they will be kicked out of the Olympics? |

Yeah they could get kicked out but do people honestly think Russia is worse than any of the other major sporting countries? It absolutely stinks but its just a part of the game when it comes to Pro sports

Yep I can remember EBH, Hushovd, Gilbert and even Roy really put on a show in that Tour. One of the better Tours of recent history

All countries will have athletes who dope. Individuals can always get access to banned substances if they wish. And possibly countries may try to turn a blind eye at times.
However, do all countries have a state sponsored doping programme, sponsored and supported by the government? Probably not. That is the difference I think. |
