Is there any inclination towards which one they'd sit? From what SSJ2Luigi says it seems like they'd probably rather sit Ericsson from a racing perspective, but obviously the money is going to matter more here. |

New season on the imediate horizon. Honda's back. Vettel at Ferrari. Alonso back at McLaren. Manor on the grid! And all anyone is talking about is vdG and Sauber
Sauber lose their appeal. Court orders Sauber to race vdG this weekend (and to pay his legal fees). If Sauber do not race vdG this weekend then their assests at the race can be siezed and they will be back in court held over Contempt of Court.
But it doesn't end simply there. vdG does not possess a valid Super Licence required to race in F1 because he did not renew his 2014 one. For a guy with a valid 2015 contract that's a pretty dumb move. So to dive at all this weekend vdG has to obtain a Super Licence from his home authority in the Netherlands, who in turn must get one direc from the FIA.... by Saturday.
If he does not get the SL then Sauber is seemingly off the hook for this weekend. They cannot race vdG if he is not licenced and would be able to race Nasr and Ericsson. Then the break before the next race would allow Nasr or Ericsson to mount their own legal challenge against vdG/Sauber.
Court proceedings resume ~2hours before FP1 starts tomorrow to continue the case. Expect to see Nasr and Ericsson running that session at least. F*cking F1 has so many goddamn background issues....

Norway in F1: Not one ever. Swedes and Danes yes but never a Norwegian. But atleast we have Rally Which Media covering is abysmal in Norway. Good thing im a huge Ferrari fan. Hopefully we can get a good season.

A short summary of what's currently happening in Australia. Van der Garde has won the lawsuit and is now matching a seat at Sauber's teambox. He also has a race suit yet. The only thing he needs is a license. According to VdG's lawyer Sauber isn't helping them with it and now they want Kaltenborn in prison. Van der Garde also had some struggles to get a paddock card so Sergio Pérez gave him one. When Van der Garde won't start this season all Sauber's possesions will be confiscated. It looks like Ericsson will loose his seat, although it's not sure who will drive this weekend and if there will drive any Sauber. It's a complete chaos over there. Let's take some popcorn!

I see this only ending badly and with Sauber disappearing from the grid for a period. This is a team so financially challenge they ignored a standing contract for the monetary gain from Nasr/Ericsson. Being forced to not just lose that money, but pay back any of it already spent and pay vdG legal fees and probably pay some form of compensation to Ericsson/Nasr, will put the team so deep in the hole they will need a race winning car to get out.... and they don't have that.
We'll see a big counter move from the ousted driver as well. Interestingly is where any counter moves take place, in the Swiss arbitration court and Victoria courts or in a court in Spain/Sweden or back in Switzerland. Will we end up at CAS at some point? This isn't just going to go away this weekend with vdG in a car.
I can't believe it got this close to the start of the season to be even partly resolved. Poor form from vdG to put any delay on proceedings, we've known the Sauber line-up for a while now, and to do so knowing he doesn't have a valid licence to drive. Blame is attributed to Sauber for going back on a contract but clearly they didn't think it was vaild, and this is a top level sports team who kind of know what they are doing.
Money hungry team on one side, and a desparete driver on the other. Complete f*ck up from start to finish. Collapse the team and kick the whole lot out the sport.

So...while the vdG-case is going on the first practice had been run.
It wasn’t so much the fact that Mercedes delivered the crushing performance expected of them so much as the fact that Nico Rosberg’s best lap of 1m 29.557s was set right at the start of the session on a track that got better and better with every lap.
It took reigning world champion Lewis Hamilton a while to get the other F1 W06 Hybrid handling as well, but he then posted 1m 29.586s to go only 0.029s slower. It was a measure of their dominance that Mercedes did some race work towards the end of the 90-minute session, and still ended up 1.191s faster than their closest rival, Williams’ Valtteri Bottas.
Mercedes dominating another year? What do you think? |

Unfortunately it looks like it. But Ferrari look good so i am happy and have my hopes up. Hopefully Manor can get themselves out there soon too.

I continue to laugh as the Sauber f*ck up continues. No testing for vdG and still no Licence has been granted. Sauber are also apparently terminating his contract, as they are legally allowed to do, which would effectively make vdG sacked and without a seat.
So what happens now? vdG most likely will not be driving this weekend. Because the major problem being his lack of Super Licence it is unlikely to see Sauber's assets being siezed. Nasr and Ericsson to drive quali and the race and the whole mess will rumble onwards towards round 2.
Mercedes look easily the best in Practice. Williams, Ferrari and Torro Rosso look good as well. Red Bull, Lotus and Force India a bit further back. McLaren, Sauber and Manor bringing up the rear.

Is it just me or are the camera angles different? It seems like the shots are slower at picking up the cars, and they seem further away too.
Also, cant wait for the day McLaren are competitive again. This season looks like its going to be pretty boring tho.

looks like its gonna be a tight battle for the championship this year between Ferrari and Williams. Dont know why Mercedes League is racing at the same time as F1 though.
