It was already rumoured a few days ago.
They were co-sponsor for the last couple of years already and obviously step up, which is great news.

The plan is an international team with a German core. So pretty much as they are at the moment. Would be interesting to know the money they spent into the team in comparison to the actual budget.

In other news the German television is obviously considering to give cycling another chance.
Sat 1 already bought some minutes for the Tour de France every day.
And ARD/ZDF apparently are at least considering to broadcast some cycling in the next years again. This at least is a rumour after they were in talks with German riders such as Kittel or Martin to present the sport a bit more from the better side.

Another exert from Bassons book https://www.cyclingnews.com/features/c...of-renewal

For those of you old or retro enough to remember the TV series "The Prisoner" I particularly like his likening of the cycling world to that:

"It reminds me of the old British TV series, The Prisoner, where men and women live happily in an idyllic village. They have become no more than characterless beings, identified only by a number. One man rises up, Number Six: he wants to know why he is there and who decided on that. He wants to assert his right to think for himself. As for me, number 152, I wanted to give a sense of my impressions of the Tour de France. Like the hero in the series, I wanted to say: ‘I am not a number!’ I wanted to assert my personality, to make my voice heard."

So, Giant stays on board as a sponsor at Giant-Shimano. I remember there were some news and some confusion about Giant and it was likely that they wouldn't continue sponsorship IIRC, guess they changed their mind. Very good.

I also thought it was a 1 year thing but guess Giant are getting good press with the squad and having the worlds best sprinter has to help

UCI just gave 2-year ban to Jonathan Tiernan-Locke. according to Eurosport and a local tv station.

Team Sky has not commented yet. But ouch Brailsford thats gotta hurt and put extra weight on the suspicion about Froome and Porte. Even though the data is before Team Sky hired him

Also that doesn't look good for Kreuziger, almost the same case.

Well, the same sort of thing happened with Barry in the first season of Sky, when Landis made allegations against him during the Giro, and they ushered it away into a dark corner and forgot about it till the Armstrong affair. Mind you, not the same as a two-year ban.

Re: Kreuziger, 3 experts have already had to agree there is no natural explanation for the results so, unless there is something exceptional, almost all cases that have got this far will end in a ban.

And 3 other experts have all said that it can be other things then doping.

So its a case of he says she says , but we all know people still believe UCI more, so i will be very surprised if UCI doesnt before Vuelta comes out with a 2 year ban.

But at least Tinkoff most likely will get Sagan and a few others so they dont have to relay so much on the same riders in all the GT´s

Actually, the only statement that they have released, if you can call it a statement, is that Tiernan Locke's contract has been terminated.
