and that's it.
Alonso screwed up with that off-road excursion, and that gave hamilton the race.
of course, being alonso, it's going to be because a groundhog ran in front of the car or somesuch lame excuse

F1 is back, for its last ouyting at Magny-Cours. Vettel may well race again as Heidfeld has been taken to hospital due to back pains.

He doesnt have much more experience and he certainly has less experience than Vettel in driving the BMW.

But he has had more Formula 1 races = exsperience. Plus he has been on loads of training programs from different teams. I would be surprised if he didnt know all of the types of cars.

His last F1 race was back in 2004 though, besides Id hgave thought that he is focusing on winning GP2 this year, as the GP2 winner tends to be offered a race drive.

I'd put Glock in the car for 2 reasons:
1. Glock is far better at this moment. that no one can dispute. potential is a different matter.
2. Vettel is a Red Bull driver on loan to BMW. Red Bull have repeatedly stated that they WILL keep him when his loan to BMW finishes in December 2008. his contract with Red Bull runs for two more years after that.

I'm surprised that no one has commented on yesterday's race. In my opinion, it was pretty fun to watch Alonso |

I don't want to sound conceited or anything, but it's going just as I expected it would.
ferrari always make a car with an exceedingly long wheelbase. this year they outdid themselves and made a car with monstrous wheelbase measure.
it was pretty clear this was going to work very badly at monaco, montreal, and to a lesser extent indianapolis.
on the other hand, at the tracks to come, it will work beautifully.
the first sector at next week's track of silverstone, especially. the car is built for turns like those. not only Copse but the whole section of Maggots/Becketts through Chapel curve down to Stowe corner.
So for me it's looking just as it did back in November: Massa beating Raikkonen to the title and Hamilton wiping the floor with Alonso.
the thing that went completely against my expectations was Honda's bad performance all season. but the mistake has been identified (and made public....so we now know that it was such a stupid and simple thing), and the car is now improving (as shown this weekend) and I expect to see them very near the front next season.
and when is Ralf going to be fired? good god (just an expression), that guy makes me angry...
and by the way. Red Bull have continued their fine tradition of screwing up by renewing Coulthard's contract for another year. way to go Red Bull...just keep developing quality youngsters and then never give them a chance...that's surely the way to do it...
it's going to be painful to see Coulthard in a great car next season doing such a poor job.

i have to say that Jenson was immense yesterday picking up points in that car
and it was quite fun to see Alonso, failing and being generally overtakey
but Ferrari were just too good, miles faster than the rest, and the McLaren boys didn't really give Lewis a chance with the 3-stop strategy unfortunatley |

at the start of the season, ferrari seemed to be in the better position and have all the advantages. especially being the only front-running team that already had extensive knowledge of bridgestone tyres (which are the only choice this season) when others knew nothing of them.
thus it was with great surprise to every devoted f1 fan when McLaren seemed at ease and almost on par with ferrari despite the difficulties.
now the truth outs.
McLaren chief designer Mike Coughlan has been suspended due to industrial espionage. namely, stealing design info from Ferrari.
notice this is not an accusation. it is a fully proven fact and even McLaren management has acknowledged this.
now it all makes sense...

I suppose this again boils down to the question that always surrounds F1 - should they all ride the same car and let it be a contest based only upon how good the driver is, or should it stay as the mix of driver and his team?

first case for one simple reason: with everyone having to develop different aerodynamics, the cars become too sensitive aerodynamically and it becomes extremely difficult to follow behind another car without extreme understeer.
this is why there is little overtaking in F1 compared to other series. if they turned to ground effects or somesuch, we'd be back to thrilling races.
as for the team, even if the car is the same, the team is going to still play a huge part. as I believe it should

it's not really a lack of f1 knowledge. It's more racing logic. I guess I should out a little info on myself: when I was a kid, I started racing karts.
was actually quite good if I'm allowed to say so myself. unfortunately, as Senna said "if you want to make a small fortune in motor racing, you'd better start with a large one".
so now I race cars for fun by invitation sometimes, and mostly simrace (simulators...on the PC....no, not gran turismo...actually realistic ones) online and offline, using some hardware I bought ( it's insanely good, but also amazingly pricy. not expensive, since it was worth it. just costs a bundle of money that just makes me feel sick)
and there you have it. my biggest hobby
explains my knowledge of the mechanics of the sport (in this case it's aerodynamics, but it's still fluid mechanics), plus the fact that I take an interest in all forms of on-track motor racing on four wheels.
