Dzamagastic is a huge talent, I thought Petit was good but he's nothing on him. I would train Bekmanis as a sprinter though, his decent Hill stat would make him dangerous but it's your call. He's a lot like my rider Altanzul in that respect, being good at both which complicates training. Good luck! |

@ jph27:
Bekmanis is a close call. But i currently prefer the hill option as I already have enough talented sprinter and he can also be a good helper there. For a sprinter his FL is a bit too low to be in the leadout i imagine for later seasons (current planing: Stoltz, Hansen, Dzamastagic, Willwohl(?), main sprinter (to be transfered in).
Also a training as climber to be a more complete helper or a combination of hill and climber is possible in my opinion.
Training | FL | MO | HI | TT | STA | RES | REC | COB | SP | ACC | FI | DH | PRL | Sprinter | 71 | 62 | 71 | 68 | 72 | 67 | 79 | 66 | 76 | 77 | 74 | 65 | 68 | Hill | 68 | 64 | 75 | 69 | 73 | 64 | 68 | 62 | 72 | 78 | 74 | 67 | 69 | Climberv1 | 66 | 68 | 75 | 69 | 69 | 68 | 71 | 62 | 69 | 77 | 75 | 67 | 69 |

Calling Petit nothing on Dzamastagic is a bit harsh, his only downside is the hill stat indeed.
And yes, I know I have similar options in Bar and Lander already, but if you knew about my plans, you'd understand why I want a third 77+FL, 69+HIL, 76+SP guy in my team

Classico San Cristobal
As the season opener always attracts a strong start list we decided to send a weaker line-up and we want to chase the break away and some late attacks.
Therefore, we are going with 0 leaders, 0 domestiques and 7 free elements. The plan is to let 6 of our young talents get their experience due to free roles and let Bissinger attack on the second last round.
Aim: Show the jersey in attack(s).
New Zealand Cycle Tour
We are going with double leadership here. Gert Joeaar is supposed to grab up a good place in the opening TT and he should defend the good position in GC through the whole tour and Teruel should grab up some top tens in the sprint stages. We don't think that a leadout is necessary as the profile should attract some of the bigger sprinter names.
Aim: Top 10 on 3 stages; top 10 in GC.
Great Ocean Road Classic
We are sending a strong sprint squad here with all of Dupont, Saramotins and Teruel. We don't have decided yet whether we want to build a leadout train or if all three are going on different wheels. If we try the later option Yannick could go on a late attack. Aim: Top 10.
Our ultimate leader Geschke is not on the road in January and therefore, we dont expect many points at this early part of the season. Instead, we want to help our talents gaining experience. The fact that Edmondson, Willwohl and Bauhaus are racing all three races prove our argument.

Inofficial Season Opener
Bay Cycling Classic is the inofficial season opener in modern cycling. It may not give ranking points but participating is an honor for every cyclist. Our young loanee Alexander Edmondson had the honour to take part in the blue jersey of Avanti. He showed their jersey in the break on the hilly round 3 but unfortunatelly, he did not succeeded. We hope that he will repeat this experience again soon. Perhaps even already on 10th of January when he participate in the official season opener: the Classico San Cristobal.

Many experts have made their predictions for the continental tour ranking and hear is what they say about our team:
Leaders | 24 | Evonik - Signal Iduna | 376.80 | Team Depth | 24 | Evonik - Signal Iduna | 197.31 | Overall | 25 | Evonik - Signal Iduna | 574.11 |
Maxime86's Biased CT overview Evonik - Signal Iduna
Summary
This team has two sides to it, sprinting and hills. Geschke is going to be one of the best riders in the CT i think. They have a fantastic sprint train, but they lack that one sprinter to punch through. Geschke is going to lead the team throught the whole season.
Best-Case Scenario
Geschke destroys all competition and their fantastic train makes up for the killer sprinter. The team ends up near the 10th spot.
Worst-Case Scenario
Geschke is the only bright spot on the team and their inability to climb even the steps to their own home costs the team many possible stage victories.

Knockout's Continental Preview
| | # | Stromeon's CT Analysis | | 25 | Maxime86's Biased CT overview: | Best Case | 10 | | Worst Case | 20 (?) | jph's House of Foolish Predictions | | 16 | Knockout's Continental Preview | | 13 | | | | Average | | 17 |
There is wide range of where we could end up at the end of the season. By coincidence it seems to be as if Knockout's Continental Preview can read our mind as this is that what we think fits the best for us but looking at the other preview, too, then everything from place 16 or better in the final ranking has to be called a success.

Our loaned out rider Indulis Bekmanis in action. He was the second rider to attack and became part of the BotD.

4th and 11th is absolutely great result for the team in this kind of terrain! This is definitely good start of the season for you, considering what squad you do have at the moment.

I have to agree there. Didnt expected it at all that the break went through and then seeing Stoltz sprinting to eleventh was too much for me.
Everything inside the top 20 would have been great already

Gert Joeaar starts his TT ride. He will finish in temporary second spot which will be worth the 6th place in the end.
It is rumoured that there were 7 of our riders at the start line. None of them was seen anywhere
Bauhaus got into the BotD.
Spoiler
But unfortunatelly, they are brought back.
Edmondson chases the two attackers from the origin break.
Spoiler
The 5 men BotD after they escaped from the peleton.
Intermediate Sprints are uncostest.
He takes 5th.
Bauhaus is again part of the break. This time he also contested intermediate and (more important) mountain sprints.
Spoiler
This 6men group easily escaped at the very beginning of the stage.
Bauhaus heard the moaning about not going for KoM points the last time he was in the breakaway and got us some very easy points for the CT ranking.
Bauhaus gets surprised about the early opening of the KoM sprint and only takes second.
Unfortunatelly, he was on the blocked when the decisive attack was made...
..so he "only" finishes 4th. Great work nevertheless.
Stage Results:
1x4th Bauhaus
1x5th Edmondson
1x6th Joeaar
GC Result:
6. Joeaar
KoM Result:
5. Bauhaus
Team classification:
3. (Joeaar, Bauhaus, Teruel, Edmondson, Vosekalns)
A very consistent race of all of our riders here in New Zealand and we hope that this attacking mode will carry over through the whole season! Another 6,8 points per race day is great considering we mainly wanted to see Joeaar taking a good GC after a good TT.

And it was a pleasure to read those great reports. Didnt expected to have so many nice moments here. Especially seeing the youngsters in the breaks was great.
And it was cool to see them following my tactical instructions. I say "Be a bit more active" after stage 2 and we were in the BotD all three days. After stage 3/4 (?) I say "Fight for the KoM points" and Bauhaus does it.
Spoiler
The first KoM sprint gives us a huge surprise:
The Evonik manager did question Bauhaus' behaviour in his break recently and demanded to go for intermediates, and it seems like that had a great effect as Bauhaus outsprints the way better puncheurs Veilleux and Soto Pereira.

Benelux Challenge
The Unknown FCH race (also known as Benelux Challenge) is a test for our cobbled season. We are starting with a mix of fighters (Stoltz), puncheurs (Bissinger) and cobble sprinters (Saramotins, Dupont). We hope that stage 4 will be rather selective. If this will be the case then Saramotins can hugely surprise the rest of the starting field due to the combination of Sprinting, cobble and hill stat and fighting spirit. Most of our riders are supposed to attack as we are expecting that some late attacks can succeed. Especially stage 2 and 6 are likely (in our opinion) to end in a sprint of a small group. Special attention to Boivin who starts his season with this race. If he is feeling well he might lead us in the bunch sprints but main reason to be here is to pick up some form for being an important leadout man for Geschke. He will participate in every race of Geschke but Criterium Hainlaite, Bucks County Classic and GP Yekaterinbourg.
Aim: GC top 10, 2 stages top 10.
Middle East Tour
We dont go here with a standout leader but we hope that Saramotins can perform well in the sprints as he should be one of the fittest sprinters here after the harder stages at the beginning (thanks to his recovery). Teruel is a real gamble as he will most likely not survive the opening mountain stages within the time limit but if he would survive then he could contest for the podium on the stages 6 and 7. Again, we hope to chase the breakaways as we succesfully did in January.
Aim: 3 breakaways, 1 stage top 5.
With Geschke and Joeaar not racing this month we don't have any riders where you can surely expect some big points for sure but we hope that aggressive racing in Middle East and a balanced squad in Benelux states will continue bringing in some extra points for CT ranking. It may be the last month without Geschke in action. At least rumours are spread that say exactly that.

Good luck Really like your team, but saying Saramotins will be one of the fastest sprinters in the Middle East goes a bit far... I mean, I send Polivoda (77SP 67HI 76REC) there, who should always be faster, especially on stage 6, which he knows very well after last year
Guess you may also have troubles doing well at the BeNeLux, but your team's depth there is quite ok, you should hope the cobbles are decisive, but won't creat any huge gaps.

Thanks. There is a small difference between "Fittest" and "fastest". He will surely not be one of the fastest sprinters there but his 79 Recovery will hopefully help him getting some results. (62MO,68HI will surely help staying fit, too) When looking at my aim you can see that i don't expect him to win anything:
Aim: 3 breakaways, 1 stage top 5.
BeNeLux is a difficult race for me. I dont know what I can expect there. My experiences from the EPIC 4 jours of Dunkerque (reported my me) and other cobbled stage races let me expect to see a group of maybe 10/15 riders (mostly cobble specialists) sprinting for the victory in stage 4. I hope that will come true and i hope that stage 2 before will not make big gaps...
If these two factors come together then Saramotins might surprise.
Otherwise, i just hope that my depth will give me some points...

Guillaume Boivin after a crash of 9 riders. He could not regenerate completely after this crash..
The rest of the team tried to safe some energy by being anonymous and Bissinger dropped back to get some freedom for a later stage.
Safe the energy. That is our motto.
Boivin seems to be injured heavier than expected and he finishes dead last on a stage that could suit him.
Heavy crosswinds forced a big bunch of riders to fall back in GC. Unfortunatelly, our leader Saramotins was one of them. We pulled everyone except Dupont back but as we were the only team working we could not get back and lost valuable time.
Yellow Energy! Good team result with Dupont (who was even mentioned as one of the favourites) and Stoltz. This gives us hope for the coming cobbled classics which will see very similar lineups than today.
Spoiler
The 5 men BotD after they escaped from the peleton.
A first group of 13 riders including Stoltz (behind Rosseler) got a gap but was pulled back.
New split!: The old 13 riders and 5 new ones. Dupont made the jump!
Bissinger jumped into the BotD
It is Stoltz who get into a very important attack mid-stage.
Spoiler
[i]
The team stayed focussed the whole day to not miss an important attack.
Stoltz finished the stage as 6th but more importantly that makes him jump to 8th in GC. Well done!
I have no idea what destroys the layout...
Short Summary:
Stage Results:
1x3th Bissinger
1x6th Stoltz
GC Result:
8. Stoltz
Spoiler For those who didnt noticed yet: In post #4 there is an overview of the team's results, points and PPRD (per race) updated after every race.
We reached our goals here but on another way than expected. We hoped that Saramotins would perform but unfortunatelly he got caught behind in cross winds. Kudus to Bissinger and Stoltz for their great performances on the last two stages. Stage 4 gives us some hopes for the cobbled classics and after Stoltz' performances in stages 4 and 6 he seems to turn into the team's wildcard (check out Great Ocean Road Classic for more surprises of him) more and more..

What do you want to do with the second spoiler?
