Congrats for the goal achieved, even more when completed by usual laughing stock of many.

Avin: Thanks! I think I see any half decent result from Maksimov as a bonus!

Thanks! Feel free to use it in your HQ if you want.
Well, Maksimov is going to Olympia so I don't think that'll be too much of a threat to anyone Capo is only of interest because it's South African. I don't really have a good C2 legible rider to challenge for anything. Sibiu will be an outside shot with Augustyn.

Races This Month 3-9 | | Tour of South Africa | HC | | 8-13 | | Tour of Oman | HC | | 11-14 | | Vuelta a Mallorca | C1 | |
__________________________________________________________
| Tour of South Africa [HC] |
| Gasore Hategeka | Leader | | Héctor Hugo Rangel | Co-Sprinter | | Tyler Day | Co-Sprinter | | Jay Thomson | Domestique | | Christoff van Heerden | Domestique | | Louis Meintjes | Domestique | | Yves Ngue Ngock | Domestique | | Heiko Redecker | Domestique |
Goals/Objectives: Breakaways, Stage Top 10s, Top 10 GC
Word from the DS [img-l]https://i1252.photobucket.com/albums/hh579/aidanvn13/says_robbie_zpse9c89c4f.png[/img-l] "This is the biggest race in our home-country. Unfortunately our South African leader, John-Lee, won't be here as the profile doesn't quite suit him too well. However, our Rwandan captain will be leading us - hopefully to a top 10 finish. We don't bring the strongest squad and we hope we'll be able to capitalise on opportunities from breaks. Hector, Tyler and even Christoff will do what they can in the sprints, but just one or two top 10s will be good. Competition is going to be really tight, so we'll try for early breaks to get the locals cheering."

| Adrien Niyonshuti | Free | | Valens Ndayisenga | Free | | Meron Russom | Free | | Metkel Kiflay | Free | | Dylan Girldestone | Free | | Songezo Jim | Free | | Francisco Terciado | Free | | Abdalla Ben Youcef | Free |
Goals/Objectives: Breakaways
Word from the DS [img-l]https://i1252.photobucket.com/albums/hh579/aidanvn13/says_darren_zps5a2f53c0.png[/img-l] "With no offense meant to the team, I bet I can say this is our weakest squad for a race all season. Unfortunately for us the team is split between Spain, Oman and South Africa. Each guy has been given a carte blanche to do with this race as they please. Main plan will be to get visible in early attacks and for guys like Valens, Meron, Metkel and Songezo to gain a bit more experience. Hopefully our climbing domestiques will use it to get there legs going for next month's racing."

| Vuelta a Mallorca [C1] |
| Gasore Hategeka | Leader | | Roman Maksimov | 1st Sprinter | | Saulo Lay | 2nd Sprinter | | Héctor Hugo Rangel | 3rd Sprinter | | Yves Ngue Ngock | Domestique | | Heiko Redecker | Domestique | | Costa Seibeb | Domestique |
Goals/Objectives: Stage Win, Top 10 GC
Word from the DS [img-l]https://i1252.photobucket.com/albums/hh579/aidanvn13/says_tiaan_zps15fd1f4c.png[/img-l] "We've got quite an interesting line-up here. Roman will be leading us in the first 2 stages which suite him, but Saulo will be there for a back up in case things go south. Hector is also an interesting candidate who can climb a bit and I think he'll be able to feature if the final stage proves too tough for some other pure sprinters. Hopefully we can bring in a stage win, but top 5's against what I suspect will be tough competition will be satisfactory. As for the GC, we hope that Gasore can attain a top 10 finish."

Result 1 | Danilo Kupfernagel | Karcher-Adira Racing | 1h31'51 | 2 | Ivano Lo Cicero | Meiji - Cannondale | s.t. | 3 | Gerald Ciolek | Team Puma - SAP | s.t. | 4 | Roman Maksimov | Project: Africa | s.t. | 5 | Raúl Granjel Cabrera | Mobil - Aeropostal Ciclismo | s.t. | ... | 40 | Tyler Day | Project: Africa | s.t. | 55 | Willie Smit | Project: Africa | s.t. | 71 | Saulo Lay | Project: Africa | s.t. | 119 | Héctor Hugo Rangel | Project: Africa | s.t. | 145 | Heiko Redecker | Project: Africa | s.t. | 159 | Metkel Kiflay | Project: Africa | s.t. | 181 | Valens Ndayisenga | Project: Africa | + 6'03 |
We completed our goal of a Top 5 here and Maksimov stunned critics in a race which is probably the most suited to his skills. By achieving this result we've somewhat lifted the pressure off the squad for performing later in the season. With relegation being a probable outcome, we're set on achieving about 3 of our goals for the season.

Entering this race, we had no expectation of a good result. Breakaways were the plan and the boys rode very aggressively. Besides for being one of the weakest teams at the race, our boys made us very proud by riding out of their skins and sticking it to the big guns. We were very unfortunate not to get a stage win after getting 3 podiums, but our Spanish mountain goat rescued the race for us by claiming the KoM jersey!

Really nice feature with the overall race score, might use that myself. Nice summary of the race Decent opener, Tachira could have gone better, but not too shabby. Not too bad of a start to PCT life!

Maksimov Brings First Win for Africa!
In his past seasons with Privatbank and CSC the "Russian Rocket", Roman Maksimov, has been heavily criticised for not being able to walk the talk. This year, however, Maksimov has been quiet and has instead let his legs do the talking. After a brilliant 4th place in the Down Under Classic, the Russian has already delivered a win and a leader's jersey in the Vuelta a Mallorca.
Maksimov claimed 3rd at the first intermediate sprint behind Vanderbiest (RBC) and Corioni (Venchi). Project: Africa controlled the pace of the peloton throughout the race after Maksimov radioed the following back to the team car:
"I feel better than I did when first visit to strip-club at age 12."
Motivated by his encouraging words, our young Namibian duo, Heiko Redecker and Costa Seibeb, forced the pace at 20km to go. No doubt that these two will one day be valued riders and leaders in the team.
Our train seemed in disarray with under 10km to go as Rangel, Lay and Maksimov were all on opposite sides of the road. However, we needn't panic and soon the "African Express" was steaming up the road. Pictured here on the left side of the road:
As Rangel swinged off the front, our mustached missile - Saulo Lay - put in a super-human effort to bring Maksimov right alongside Vanderbiest.
This left a neck and neck fight for the win between Vanderbiest and Maksimov in a straight-out battle of speed and strength.
But the Russian Rocket rained supreme in an amazing show of strength! With this he has claimed the first win for Project: Africa this season (besides for Terciado's KoM jersey in Tachira). Saulo Lay should also be mentioned as he still managed a 5th place even after burrying himself for the Russian.
Words from the Winner: Roman Maksimov Last year and 2 year ago, Privatbank and CSC laugh at me when I race. But now I laugh at their funeral.
Team from Africa believe in me and offer me good contract. Manager, Aidan, says he knows I can win and gives me very good team for lead out. Team is full of young riders who have good potential and I happy to teach them. Today squad was awesome, especially Mexican and Spanish. Now I ask where is CSC and Privatbank?
Manager Aidan give me good squad for support, nice house by Cape Town beach, sunshine in Africa, free beer at local bar and very nice South African girls. I happy to repay him with wins.

We were hoping to impress in our home race and desperately wanted a stage win, but we were disappointed in that aspect. However, Gasore Hategeka did well to compensate with a solid Top 10 in a very strong field.

We didn't have an ambition to perform here, but the race was rather used for our younger riders to gain a bit more experience. Terciado continued his run of form with two succesful breakaways and grabbed a second place - narrowly missing out on the win.

The team had an awesome points haul here and we grabbed our first win of the season thanks to Maksimov (along with 3rd in the points classification)! Saulo Lay deserves a word of congratulations for awesome lead-out skills and still managed to grab good stage results himself. Our Rwandan puncheur, Gasore Hategeka, had a superb run of form which netted him a 4th place on stage 3 and 4th in the General Classification. __________________________________________________________

Maksimov continued to be Mr Consistent with another 5th place and 2nd place. Along with a good few sprints from Lay brought us some points in a fairly unimportant race.

The team was excited for this race as it was well suited for our team captain, John-Lee Augustyn. The race kicked off with a bang when Jay Thomson grabbed 2nd on the opening stage from a breakaway. Unfortunately, J-L made some tactical mistakes by staying back to help Thomson on the mountain stage instead of going after his own chances and this decision eventually cascaded into a disastrous tour. __________________________________________________________ | Tour d'Rwanda [C2] |

Tour d'Rwanda is one of the few C2 races the team will participate it in. We were happy to be attending a race in our home continent this time around. However, it was our Mexican sprinter who impressed by taking the win on stage 2 and second on stage 3. Kudos to Tyler Day who was an excellent lead-out on stage 2 and 3 (where he netted a 3rd place) - despite a heavy fall on stage 1! __________________________________________________________ | Corsica International [HC] |

Saulo Lay picked up a nice podium on the opening sprint stage. John-Lee held his own on the mountain stage finishing in the first main group (unfortunately it was only enough for 14th). He still managed a top 15 overall, so all in all it wasn't too much of a bad race.

It was a disappointing showing from Augustyn who only managed a 19th place in a race that suited him. Other than a few scrapes of points we don't have much to show from a disappointing trip to British Columbia.

Our win goal for the year - which by no surprise we failed. The race was unusually won by a large breakaway and - despite being represented by Meintjes - we failed to achieve a result. Louis' sprint was miss timed and this cost him a podium spot.

This race only gets 1 point because it was held on a race track, which is pretty cool.

Hategeka managed a very respectable 8th place finish in the GC. Unfortunately, despite being in various breaks we couldn't snatch a win in a race on our home continent. __________________________________________________________ | Melaka's Governor Cup [C1] |
Race Result 1 | Gerald Ciolek | Team Puma - SAP | 4h23'31 | 2 | Roman Maksimov | Project: Africa | s.t. | 3 | Dan Holloway | Heineken-Cal Giant | s.t. | 4 | Ethan Weiss | Heineken-Cal Giant | s.t. | 5 | Maxime Vantomme | Quickstep | s.t. | ... | 60 | Jay Thomson | Project: Africa | s.t. | 72 | Saulo Lay | Project: Africa | s.t. | 82 | Willie Smit | Project: Africa | s.t. | 104 | Christoff Van Heerden | Project: Africa | s.t. | 125 | Tyler Day | Project: Africa | s.t. | 132 | Heiko Redecker | Project: Africa | s.t. |
We can't fault Maksimov on his performance here. He had a great finish to earn us yet another 2nd place! It's just disappointing to see our other sprinters/lead-out men finish in the back of the bunch.

Very very nice layout, hopefully you'll have more luck with breakaways especially in the future.

Thanks! It seems breaks are more or less the only place we can score decent points. The fight for relegation will be close, so we're holding thumbs.
Even if we do relegate it's not a train smash. I can see me building up a complete African team that'll dominate Continental Tour.

Good to see i'm not the only one sorting out next season stuff. Question for you is which division? Obviously i'm a fan of the team, like pretty much everyone, however from a competitve stand point i hope you crash and burn!
