Thanks to all for the kind words!
Tour de San Luis Stage 6
Back in Argentina with the last stage for GC changes. Another hard stage finish is waiting for our team and especially our leader Thomas De Gendt, which means, our last chance to get on the GC podium.
A five man break was dominating the stage from the beginning. Calderon, Gil, Simon, Selvaggi and Anacona did a great job. Our team decided to stay with De Gendt and prepare our final attack.
When the last climb was already reached, Anacona and Gil were still in front. The rest of the break was still between them and the pack. One of those guys should take the stage for sure, as there was no team in the pack, chasing them.
There we go! The first move came by Gadret. Kennaugh and Thomas De Gendt went after him immediately.
After the pack had brought us back, Thomas De Gendt had to start another attack with only a few kilometres to go. This time Wilco Kelderman went after him with ease.
Meanwhile, Anacona won the stage after moving away from Gil, who finished second in front of Simon, Calderon and Selvaggi.
The final sprint of the first chasing group began and Visconti was able to join De Gendt and Kelderman. Is Wilco Kelderman too strong again?
No, not this time. Thomas De Gendt won the sprint for the 6th place. And finally we are back on the podium, since Nerz lost almost a minute to us!

sutty68 - All in all, I think it was a good stage for us, since Thomas is back on the podium.
Santos Tour Down Under Stage 5
Finally the fifth stage in Down Under is reached. The legendary Willunga Hill is waiting for us twice. Gianni Meersman is still in a nice position in terms of the overall ranking. With that hilly arrival today, we hope, that we are able to play an important role.
Another sunny and beautiful day in Australia. Some of the riders took the chance to get into a break. Stannard (Sky), Dennis (Garmin Sharp), Schär (BMC Racing Team), Cherel (AG2R La Mondiale), Malori (Movistar Team), Gusev (Team Katusha) and Villella (Cannondale) dominated the stage for a very long time.
But they were brought back to the pack with only 3 kilometres to go. Meersman was already in a great position, since there was little gap to Gavazzi and some other GC favourites. Come on Gianni!
First, the small gap was closed within a few seconds, but Gianni Meersman fired a rocket there. What an impressive solo attack but is it strong enough?
Only a few hundred metres to sprint. Clarke and Geschke were coming pretty close to Meersman! This is going to be a dramatic stage final.
Bad luck for our team and Gianni! Meersman was left by his power on the last 50 metres. Clarke and Geschke passed him. Even Gavazzi came pretty fast from behind.
Finally a sweet stage win for Clarke in his country. Geschke finished second in front of Meersman. He was able to save the podium in the end. Great result but the win was possible today. Maybe that attack came too early. Mark Renshaw showed a big fight, finishing in the pack which means he is still 3rd in the overall, Meersman 6th!

Tour de San Luis Stage 7
Alright the last stage in Argentina already and this one should be another chance for the sprinters to get a stage win. Wilco Kelderman was by far the strongest rider here, so there should be no trouble for him today. Hopefully Cav will be able to sprint for the win again!
Another breakaway group today with some motivated riders in it such as Hardy (Cofidis, Solutions Crédits), Wackermann (Lampre - Merida), Laborie (Bretagne - Séché Environnement), Orjuela (4-72 - Colombia), Kohler (BMC Racing Team), Dekker (Garmin Sharp), Paredes (Colombia), Gil (Androni Giocattoli) and again Puccio (Sky).
With 25 kilometres to go, the drama about Wilco Kelderman began! He was slowing down suddenly, probably some technical problems on his bike. No one of his team mates was actually waiting for him. Our team stopped, controlling the pack but the other teams didn´t which means Kelderman had no chance to get back.
Although the pack was riding pretty fast, the break was still in front and ready to sprint for the final stage win.
Behind them in the pack, we were deciding to try everything to catch the break on the last metres, when Kelderman had already lost 4 minutes, it was for sure that he will lost the jersey to Cataldo. Is there still a chance to bring Mark Cavendish in a winning position?
No chance for us! Puccio took a well deserved win for Sky, as he was in a break for many times this week. Kohler finished second in front of Laborie. Mark Cavendish was able to catch the group during his sprint but there was no chance to get a Top 5, he finished this stage on 8th.
There he comes, Wilco Kelderman with almost 5 minutes to the pack. It´s a shame, he lost this tour in that way. He was by far the best rider here, almost unbeatable, I feel pretty sorry for him.

A bit of mixed feelings there, but in the end of the day it is just strange to get the second because of that bad luck moment for Kelderman. |

Thank you guys
Santos Tour Down Under Stage 6
Finally the last stage here in beautiful Australia. We are still in a great position with Mark Renshaw. Who expected that before? Our only goal today, has to be a stage win. Mark is 10 seconds behind Clarke in the overall, so there is still a chance to win this tour.
There was just a small breakaway group in front today, but with some famous names, such as Kern, Hermans and Gusev. But all in all the group was too small for a successful ride. The pack brought them back with ease.
Our team worked pretty well, to build a nice sprint train. Vandenbergh made sure to follow Coquard, who was the biggest opponent for Mark Renshaw on the paper. Meersman and Renshaw were placed behind Vandenbergh.
The final sprint began and this one was so important for us. Meersman took the lead on the left side with Renshaw perfectly placed in his slipstream. The Europcar train was right next to us.
Just one kilometre to go with Mark Renshaw in the lead. He got the right moment to make his final move with a brilliant acceleration. Coquard has completely missed the right moment to leave his team mate´s slipstream. Pelucchi took Renshaw´s wheel but is he able to pass him?
What is happening now? Suddenly Coquard was flying from behind to get really close to our overall hope Renshaw. We really have to win this stage for taking the overall win here in Down Under.
That is so unlucky for Renshaw and the whole Omega squad. Coquard passed him on the last metres to win the last stage. Van Hoff was pretty close in the end, too. But Renshaw finished 2nd, gaining 6 bonus seconds. That´s not enough, we are still 3rd in the overall with only 4 seconds to Clarke.
