Great report, Smowz, even though a bigger selection would have been better.
I think the elite should be more selective.
Nevertheless the Netherlands prove to have a huge talents pool with Kelderman taking it.
Such a talented top5-10 here actually. I wonder if those guys will be seen in front of the elite road race as well.
Happy that Olivier was a decent help for Kelderman here and still finishing 23rd while Villella was a bit more anonymous. |

Nice race, and great report... Soo close for bronze here. Koretzky takes 4th place here. He has had a nice season in the CT, and I'm looking forward to getting him back next season where he should be able to become a very nice domestique... Also Kastrantas finished in the first group. He should be able to ride the U23 next season aswell, as should Lecuisinier whom should be a decent medalhope next season.

Meintjes in 6th! Well done youngster. Unfortunately his development is fucked because he misses out on progressing to level 3 by 1 XP point. Yes, he'll be on level 2.99XP in 2014.

And that does it for the Bulgarians at these Championsips. Both did exactly what was predicted of them, but it's the start of a long process.
Was expecting more of a selection in the U23 RR but it was still a good race. Just no-one tell Jesl....

Finally Puma ahead of B&O again
1 5 12 18 is brilliant. Considering the non-decisiveness of the hills, going for Arndt was the right decision for Germany.
A pity Demare wasn't set up for the final, it looks like he was coming pretty fast.
Though honestly, if Demare doesn't win at least one elite WC in his career, he was really unlucky
A big thanks to every team represented in the Dutch lineup for helping Kelderman to win it.

Hah I nearly forgot!

He can try all he want. Koretzky will always take him out

Nice to see Puma win and Koretzky doing well - he's been a star for us in CT this season. Still maintain Altanzul would have been up there though |

What a worlds this turns out to be. This race makes up for Gesink missing the podium on the TT.
And Schoonbroodt doing a lot of work for Kelderman and still finishing 13th is awesome .
Keep them coming, we want Gesink as elite champion now

I'm happy to see you joining us on the podium
Unsurprisingly, you could say the 3 teams most well-known for their talent policy are all on the podium: Puma, B&O and HTC.

Two very attacking riders, and both finished Top 15, coincidentally, next to each other! Would have liked a better result just with how strong Kinoshita and Shikai looked but Im happy still!

Yeah we do
But I think we will need gaps for that to happen, although Bob had a nice sprint in LBL.
I think Kreder could have been on the podium here if he wasn't in the same team as Kelderman and Van der Lijke. But good to see two Dutch riders on the podium.

Tenorio did well, then the U23 race was always going to be bad. Ventoso probably has Spain's best chance of winning in the real thing, but I've learnt that he can't compete with the big boys, so I'm just hoping that Spain get in the right break.

Congrats to Puma, deserved winner here!
The race was pretty anonymus from Metinvest point of view, shame that Grosu did not join the sprint,as he was able to come close to Demare during some races this year and now is way way back. Well, he has some more years here.
Thanks for the nice report Smowz.

Great win from Phinney in the TT, he and Coppel have many more battles in their future.
Great reporting on that and the U-23 race!

So there we are! Congratulations to the winner! Not the most surprising result, but certainly a great race I feel.
I guess this is as good a time as any to announce that that was the last race I'll be reporting for quite a while. I'll be moving to Rome in about a week to take up a 5 month scholarship and after that I'll be coming back to Sydney, but I'll be in hardcore thesis-writing mode. This will probably not leave me with much time for more than the occassional classic or stage race. Don't worry though I still have some ideas for things I can do for the Man Game in my spare time.
