Allright here is my take on the 3D simulation since it seems to be a heated topic. Being a manager is many things, some managers like Bob Stapleton had nothing to do with the racing and left every race to Brian Holm and Rolf Aldag. In the other end we have a guy like Bjarne Riis who takes care of the same tasks as Stapleton but he decides to participate and take control of his team in races like Tour de France.
Translated to our game:
1. Stapleton would be a player that hires the best and most expensive sport directors in the world to manage his team in races and then simulate every stage without being present himself. This is the type of player that:
- spends several hours finding the right sponsor deal
- spends day after day looking at U23 results, scouting areas, consulting his scouts to find the next big talent.
- changes equipment, fires staff and constantly evaluates economy to secure the best possible future for the team
2. Riis would be a player that mixes management and racing and be one that:
- Participate in big races and help secure some memorable moments.
- Likes to develop personal relations with riders and be there when they pull off their biggest wins .
- Has a difficult time satisying sponsors
- might not get the best deals
etc.
Like managers players value different things from their time with the game and thus 3D is an integrated part of the full manager experience we aim to create.
I will only consider scrapping 3D if I have no other options |

I think 3D is quite necessary. One thing that I feel needs to be changed is rider intelligence. For example (especially on mountains) riders get blocked by others dropping back, but instead of going outside they stay behind the slowing rider. Also in sprints where the riders have a tonne of free space but instead decide to go into a corner and finish with a crap tonne of energy left after being boxed in.

Nice project, I wish you all the best with it!
Some things I found lacking about PCM (but I'm guessing you thought of most already ):
- Some stats are pointless, some just don't do anything at all, some can't be understood what they do exactly and some are just wrong.
- Youth options were too limited, need more races, better developpement options like CT developpement team
- Better AI race selection and season planning (though pcmdaily's DB usualy fixes that)
- Unrealistic transfers
- Bonuses for buying equippement, not just bikes, but things like team cars, radio, etc
- More interaction with riders, sponsors and fans. PR and commercialising would be interesting new features.
- More option to interact to sign riders or apply for wildcard
- The ability to easily edit a database.
- Better AI + the position to move your riders left/right in 3D mode
- ...
- will probably think of more
Anyway, good luck with the project, and should you be interested to adapt one of my ideas and want to go into detail about it, feel free to leave me a PM
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

This project looks realy good, and I hope that you could make it work. I'm already looking forward playing it
Are you planning to sell the game or just put a download link on the web? Because I think if you sell the game and make money with it that you can't use real names, sponsors,... Even PCM can't affort all the licenses. But if you make it free than you can use real names etc. Just like the Daily DB (atleast I think Daily hasn't to pay for it ).

Or it could be sold with an Official DB with fake names and teams, then a community can create a DB with real names and sponsors for free.

The game will be a retail product. People that supports the game during the kickstarter campaign will get the game for free or at a heavy discount. Pricing etc. will be determined after the game has entered beta.
avoiding licenses and do fake names for the first game is definitely the best solution right now |

I'll try to make a logo work on a logo too, whenever I get time. Do you have any special colors in mind?

Jackstar is also making one, but it would e nice to have some different logos and find the best logo for the game Here is some details for it:
here is some inspiration that we consider pretty logos:
https://mattzolman..._final.jpg
https://www.wallpa...lpaper.jpg
The logo should share a color theme from the original UCI ProTour logo, can be seen here
https://www.gmkfre...o_Tour.gif
I imagine something like a black background and a logo using the blue protour colors and perhaps som white or gray

I am pleased to present the very first screenshot of my engine in action
The project reached an important milestone today with the first integration of a terrain generator that enables rendering of heightmaps.
No textures and no 3D models yet but the entire landscape is as it should be
I will probably avoid screenshots of the engine going forward untill there is an actual game to show
that said i think it is important to keep you guys informed of the progress to build the trust necessary between my team and the community to pull this game off |

Is that comparable to the stage editor...we are in serious need of a stage editor that doesn't crash like crazy.
baseballlover312, 06-03-14 : "Nuke Moscow...Don't worry Russia, we've got plenty of love to go around your cities"
Sarah Palin, 08-03-14 (CPAC, on Russian aggression) : "The only thing that stops a bad guy with a nuke is a good guy with a nuke"
Big thanks to jdog for making this AMAZING userbar!

News regarding the project will drop more and less frequently during the year rest assured that the game is still in development evolving a little every week.
Currently exploring a possible website solution and setting up the engine framework. Thx for the logo btw, we will evaluate the suggestion at a later date

As mentioned in the title, i am open for suggestions to consider while developing the game this includes:
- possible improvements and wishes for the stage editor
- some basic scenarios for the AI, what scenarios do you want the AI to deliver in-game?
- any great ideas for the career mode?
Look critical at PCM and tell me what YOU feel is missing
As developers we already have a plan for how our game should look like but somtimes we miss out great ideas so take a shot at it and help define the future of cycling games!

In Career mode there should be a special racing season for riders under the age of 23 that are not racing in Continental or PCT. This would allow managers to see the progress of their young talents in relation to other young riders and would also give managers a chance to pick off young talents from other devlopement and professional teams.

Stage Editor:
1) Stability - So you can easily use it for an hour without it crashing...
2) Simplicity - So you can easily use it for an hour
3) Intuitive UI - So you can easily use it for an hour
(basically make it simple and functional)
Career Mode:
1) Realistic Negotiations - With sponsors, riders, staff etc. Basically a number of options to discuss. Look at FM for a good example
2) Communications - With sponsors, media, staff, riders etc. Part of making them real. They can have problems (not racing enough, worries about future etc) and you can talk to them about it and make them happier. Media would be pre-race and post-race. Just simple questions and answers, which can then impact on sponsor and team happiness levels
