#Diary entry number 1 - Richard Plant - heir to the British cycling throne
Richard Plant - training in a foriegn land
I waved off to my beloved family and out I travel to Lombardia to hook up with an Italian Mercenery band that go by the name of Lampre. It was with a heavy heart I left my loved ones, I had found offers hard to come by it seems as if the Plant passion and values are not in demand in the modern world.
Why may you ask has Richard Plant joined a foriegn team? What other options do I have? Actually it is clear if I am going to seperate myself from the mollycoddled vermin at the court of Team Sky then where better on the wild roads here in the Dolomites and Alps. I think there is much fortune to be had raiding the bandits and rogue type races they have out here. I'll learn my trade and hopefully one day give the peoples of my homeland a true hero to cheer. No-one cares about some Kenyan grasshopper - I hear they exiled Sir Brad from their retenue. I'll say this about the mod man at least he pretended to be a man of the people.
The company here are broadly Italian though it seems even here contimination with other breeds is common. Indeed the horse trading that is transfer season has decended and we even now have a convict from the outcast island joining up with us. I'll attempt to keep myself away from Hepburn, I cannot be mixing with riffraff like him. I guess he does at least speak my tongue - I am not really here to make friends.
There are strange practices here, many of the guys in this team seem more concerned about their looks then their actual riding. That prat Pozzato and pretty boy Ullissi have been off filming some advert for TV - they prance it up for the plebs and keep the mobv happy I guess. I think to be honest like everyone else here they take advantage of their friendly but perhaps naive boss. I mean look at their results sheet last year it was an absolute disgrace. The boos is a strange fellow in many ways, so very nice to me and my family - it was kind of him to take me in. I think one day he can find a place in my future court perhaps helping with the latrines and cleaning out my trusty steeds. Still for now he is running my affairs in cycling and he has promised some chances. I am not going to be one of these EPIC tossers who demands this that and the other of his manager - the guy has enough to deal with, with all the primadonnas we have here.
Some old half starved croc walked into the lodgings yesterday speaking in some other tongue I did not recognize, imagine my amazement when I was told he was to be my training buddy and that we would even be racing together. They tell me he is from some place in the new world. This guy looks like he will catch the bloody flux any minute - they speak of the magix he possesses, I wonder if he is some kind of necromancer?
I will listen, learn and endure such hardships, for now my only true relief comes from writing these honest words in my memiors. For now I leave you to go to work. So long.

#Diary entry number 2 - Richard Plant - heir to the British cycling throne
Richard Plant - my ambitions and hopes
Just a short note today of the my personal goals for my first year of training.
Goal one: Learn one necromancer spell from Felix Cardenas.
I am told that this wrinkly fool has reached is fourth decade avoiding dysentary, pox or any of the plagues that no doubt roam the continent. I am told he comes from a mysterious place over the great seas and if I can decipher his tongue perhaps he can teach me some of his dark arts. I know this is hardly kingly actions but needs must, I must survive to meet my destiny.
Goal two: Avoid the blatent buggery amonst the Italian legions.
Pozzato. Ulissi. Cunego. Need I say more.
Goal three: Earn some serious coin.
I have heard of special King of the Mountains purses on offer in stage races. I hope to snatch some of this booty for myself.
Goal four: Participate in the 'grand tournament'
I have also heard of a glorious 'Giro' that occurs once a year over a 21 day period. This event has regular dayly jousts, with hunts often going into the wild dolomites in search of lost towns and mythical passes. Any sort of partipation in said event should raise my prestige by quite the margin. Hell it may even pass near to the holy city of Rome where I can pay homage to his magnificence the Pope who I am hoping will bless me and my ultimate quest.

Richard Plant reminds me so much of the Major Thompson character by Pierre Daninos (Les carnets du Major Thompson is a must read in my opinion) and by extension to the media persona of the great Tom Simpson. I hope this is intentional because then it would be a sheer stroke of masterful creation and writing, albeit slightly played out to the well educated. If not it's still f*cking funny to read.
The combination of Plant and Sutty could be deadly. Watch out for 1000 upgrade points for both of them all season long

And Sutty will probably use these for making Cardenas a serious GT contender
