The Squad:

Ancelin Sylvain
Bey David
Broutin Richard
Dauphin Frank
Decaux Eric
Kempf Axel

This race was kind of a special moment to show the jersey during July, there is not many race in France except the Tour de France at that time.

Anyway, David was in the breakaway and he did a lot of work comparing to his one-day mates.

Of course in that kind of race the breakaway have many chance to take the win, but this time Sojasun ride hard behind them and everyone was united 15 km before the line.

No rider really had the legs to go for a solo ride so everyone waited for the mass sprint with the victory of Jimmy Engoulvent (SOJ) and the surprising 3rd position of Bernard. Franck and Eric ended 8th and 9th.

Other News

During the Tour de France, two team had announced that they will merge their squad next season. This teams are Team Europcar and Sojasun, none of this sponsor will be the name of the future team as the project of merging the two team came from the French Company Orange.
Of course not all the riders will have the opportunity to join this team and this riders will be our targets.

I'm also looking for young talents and two caught my attention:

- William Cassin (20yo | ) a young french who had good skills in climbing and Time Trial, he is interested in our project and he might sign with us for at list two season.

- The other is Valérien Fort (19yo | ) he is the best sprinter of his generation, many teams are interested by his profile but when I contacted him he show great interest to the team. I can't tell you much about this rider because he have made his choice yet. (FDJ.fr, AG2R, Team Orange and BMC are also trying to sign him for next season).

Three in the top ten is a really good result for the guys Grin

And Team Europcar and Sojasun joining forces sounds scary Frown

@sutty68: Hope this will last until the end of the season Grin .

I can be scary but many of the good riders will leave the teams too (I will try to respect some of the transfers of this year (Gaudin and Turgot to AG2R Simon to Cofidis Hivert to Belkin).

But you will see Wink

In this stage it was planed to take as more mountain points possible, David who had lost some time after the second stage went in the breakaway and he took all the mountains points possible. And surprisingly he did not wait for the pack, in the last climb he attacked the breakaway riders and he went for a solo ride. Unfortunately he got caught on the line losing by an inches.

The only mountain stage of the race, the boys really wanted to keep the jersey and they helped David going in the Breakaway. He took many points again today and the jersey is now sure to stay with us.

At 5 km from the last summit, Mickaël accelerated, he quickly created a gap and at 3 km of the top, he was joining David and the remaining riders from the breakaway.

There was one rider very strong who attack with 1 km to go before the summit, he joined Mickaël in the downhill and He won the stage. Too bad for Mickaël who really deserved it.

César took the 3rd position and David the 5th.

Note that Stephane did not start the stage to recover before La Polynormande

A New Sponsor

Before Starting La Polynormande, I must tell you some stuff about the team for next year.

First our sponsor Canal + decided to stop the partnership, the manager of the brand told us that it was a good trial and they might come at a higher level in sponsorship within the following years.

The main reason of them leaving was that earlier in the week Xavier Niel the Chief Strategy Officer of Iliad contacted me as he was interested in a partnership with the team.

Since his concurrent Orange entered the cycling world he decided to do it too at a lower level first. He specially want to promote the mobile telephony services and this is why next season this logo will be add to our jersey:

A New Rider

After some discussion with Jérémie Galland (SOJ) we agreed about a two year contract. The rider told the press that "it was unbelievable to find a new team that quickly and he will do everything to deserve that contract".

The Squad:

Ancelin Sylvain
Castan Stephane
Dauphin Frank
Decaux Eric
Jimenez Vergara Maximino
Kempf Axel

Pre-Race:

It's been a while for all this riders (exept Stephane) since their last real race so the shape is not the best, we will do what we can but it might not be here that the leadership of the PMU French Cup will come back to us.

Race Report:

Sylvain was the first to attack, luckily for him the pack let him go with two other riders ; Antoine Lavieu (LPM) and Björn Thurau (EUC).

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Carrefour/Races/2013/24%20Polynormande/PCM0002_zps1ea225c3.jpg

Sylvain really struggled to keep in touch with the breakaway, and when it started to accelerate behind, he just had to give spending too much energy for nothing.

With 44 km left, Warren Barguil (ARG) tried something, his attack made the pack caught him and the breakaway at the same time.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Carrefour/Races/2013/24%20Polynormande/PCM0003_zpsa73fcf4b.jpg

There was one late attack that blow our chance of doing a good results, Mathieu Sprick (ARG) and Romain Bardet (ALM) where riding fast but the pack was fastest than them, it was too much for Stephane who was out of energy.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Carrefour/Races/2013/24%20Polynormande/PCM0004_zps7351bb35.jpg

The pack caught the two attackers and then the sprint started, Rob Ruijgh (VCD) was the fastest. Our best rider today was Stephane who ended 30th.

This stage was very intense in term of emotion. The plan was to have someone in the break to take the mountain points and to help Mickaël in the last climb.

This guy was Kenny he took all the points given and in the last climb he had a good advantage, the stage could have been his. I say could have because behind Mickaël tried to stop all the attacks from the riders in the pack. He was so strong that every time he was joining someone, the gap was decreasing. In the end Kenny got caught with 2 left. he managed to stay in the main group and he assisted to the victory of his team mate Mickaël.

This two boys will wear a specific jersey tomorrow, Mickaël as he is leading the General Ranking and Kenny as he is the King of the Mountains.

Tour des Pyrénées

Stage 3

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Carrefour/Races/2013/25%20Pyrenees/PCM0003_zps4c44d491.jpg

This was stage where we had to rule the pack, many climbs and downhill, none of my four riders were allowed to leave. Kenny was disappointed as he was not able to defend the KoM jersey which he lost at the end of the day.

I was focusing the stage on keeping the Leadership of the race and perhaps increase the gap.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Carrefour/Races/2013/25%20Pyrenees/PCM0001_zpsfb5ee493.jpg

Then in the last climb it was the moment that Michaël decided to show himself, he had more than 1' on the second group before the downhill.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Carrefour/Races/2013/25%20Pyrenees/PCM0002_zpsb10be734.jpg

Of course he did not got caught and he ended the stage with almost the same gap than before the downhill what a great victory.

We could not dream better for this race, all the jerseys, two stage victory and the GC victory for Michaël. While I'm writting my brother is in Spain with the other riders for Vuelta Ciclista a Leon.

My next race as a DS will be Tour de l'Ain where Michaël may shine again.

Greetings Greg L.

The 3rd and 5th stages were the most successful of the race, firstly with the victories of César and secondly because Axel took the KoM jersey after taking the maximum points possible.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Carrefour/Races/2013/26%20Leon/PCM0004_zps611acafb.jpg
Axel was always in the right attack and in the end it brought the KoM jersey.

The stage 3 ended with a victory of César who took 56" on the climb to Cueva de Valporquero. He was the strongest of the race and this is why he managed to keep his jersey until the end.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Carrefour/Races/2013/26%20Leon/PCM0003_zps7f61dc06.jpg
Cesar won a great stage in his country.

In the last stage, César had to control the numerous attacks from his opponents but with the help of Maximino no one managed to left the pack...

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Carrefour/Races/2013/26%20Leon/PCM0005_zpsece33eb8.jpg
Maximino did a great job to save the jersey of César.

... Except César, he attacked on the last climb of the day and the chasing group assisted, without having any impact, at the 2nd victory of César.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Carrefour/Races/2013/26%20Leon/PCM0006_zps7c690bd8.jpg
César tried and managed to win a second stage even if the profile did not really fit him.

Two Riders Coming Next Season

Earlier in the week I had a meeting with the young and talented rider Angelo Tulik (EUC) at 22 years old the rider was unsure about his future (Europcar stopping the sponsorship) and during the season I watched him and he was the kind of rider that could bring a new horizon to the team. He is delighted about this contract and he will do everything to honor it.

The second rider that sign with the team is the Spanish rider Rafael Valls Ferri (VCD) also unsure about his future (Vacansoleil is reducing his squad as they did not have the money anymore to ride in World Tour) he was interested in our project, he will be with us for almost 2 year, the sponsor like this signing as they are also targeting the Spanish Market.

César's Case

Yesterday, A associate of Fernando Alonso called me to talk about César, it seems like they want him their squad for next season, they wanted my authorization and my advice about him. I told them that I was not against him leaving the team, but he is not mature enough to enter a World Tour Team, I also told them to discuss about him with the rider as the decision is not mine to do.

This Case is far from over as they will contact him to talk about that.

Tour de l'Ain

The Squad:

Bailleux Michaël
Bey David
Broutin Richard
Druelle Kenny
Jimenez Vergara Maximino
Martín Mozos César

Pre-Race:

I've brought a strong squad here with stage win possible. The only little problem is that there is some good riders that are also starting this race, I can name some like Chris Froome (SKY), Bradley Wiggins (SKY), Thibaut Pinot (FDJ), Warren Barguil (ARG) and many more,it will be a real test for Michaël and César.

Stage 1

This prologue made more damages than expected, Chris Froome is the incontestable winner and the performance of César was impressive. Good ride also from Michaël who only lost 16".

Stage 3

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Carrefour/Races/2013/27%20Ain/PCM0003_zps054fd4c3.jpg

Finally the real fight began, the profile was not so hard but in the end many groups ended the race with a large gap.

First there was this breakaway of 4 rider including Maximino,

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Carrefour/Races/2013/27%20Ain/PCM0006_zps8bd7ef12.jpg

And then in the only real difficulty of the day Michaël decided to test his opponents, First only Chris Froome (SKY), Warren Barguil (ARG) and Bradley Wiggins (SKY) managed to follow him.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Carrefour/Races/2013/27%20Ain/PCM0007_zpsa75b52f7.jpg

When he caught his team mate, Michaël was well protected and he spent less energy than his opponent, the strategy was working well.

When it there was a significant gap, Michaël let Chris and Warren made the work.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Carrefour/Races/2013/27%20Ain/PCM0008_zpseb393541.jpg

In the downhill a fourth rider joined them, Thomas Voeckler (EUC) fought hard to come back and as soon as he was back, Michaël attacked. In the group they did not understand and they did not reacted immediately. It was too late, the gap was already made.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Carrefour/Races/2013/27%20Ain/PCM0009_zps0471f43a.jpg

And Michaël (the brave) resisted to them during ten kilometers, he arrived exhausted but happy, I had a little argument with the commissaires as no gap was taken into account at the finish look at the picture they must be kidding.

Michaël is leading the race by a little second, everything will be done to keep that jersey but with the two hard stage coming the task will be very difficult.

Greetings, Greg L.

Stage 4

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Carrefour/Races/2013/27%20Ain/PCM0004_zpsfc9cf0e8.jpg

First of all you need to know that I made a request to the UCI about the gap of the stage 3 finish, I think that the organizer of the race did not took a significant gap into account from what I heard there should be a gap of 5" at list.

The stage was kind of hard for the boys as they had to control who could leave and who could not, they made the pace during the whole stage especially Maximino and Richard for the first part of the stage. then on the hardest climb of the day, Kenny came to set the thing clear, no one leave the pack. He was really strong and some riders did not managed to follow him.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Carrefour/Races/2013/27%20Ain/PCM0003_zpsba97424f.jpg

He made also all the downhill and the beginning of the climb toward the finish.

Then Cesar protected Michaël from the attacks of his opponents. He did this well and a small group of riders arrived at the finish to dispute the victory.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Carrefour/Races/2013/27%20Ain/PCM0005_zps2a311c7f.jpg

It's Rein Taaramae (COF) who arrived 1st, Warren is second and Michaël 4th, he will not wear the leader jersey next stage too bad Frown.

Stage 5

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Carrefour/Races/2013/27%20Ain/PCM0005_zpsa139e641.jpg

I don't know if we can consider that as a mountain stage, the summit of the biggest climb is 30km before the finish line, no one made a move in that climb.

Only one man was allowed to leave the pack, that man was Kenny, the pack was not interested in him and they did not care of chasing him.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Carrefour/Races/2013/27%20Ain/PCM0006_zps13524799.jpg

Michaël also tried to and managed to leave the pack, but the chase was led by no other than Chris Froome, what could he do?

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Carrefour/Races/2013/27%20Ain/PCM0007_zps843396dc.jpg

At the same time at front Kenny was winning his first professional race, congrats man!!

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Carrefour/Races/2013/27%20Ain/PCM0008_zpsb192808c.jpg

Again Michaël arrived before the pack and no gaps were counted, that's kind of frustrating, since he just lost the race for a little second what a shame.

Without that gap case, I think we could easily say that Michaël would have won the race, until the decision of the UCI I will not polemic on this, I'm sure that they will do their job and whatever is the decision I will accept it.

Michaël show his real strength this past weeks and I think that he can still improve, it's plan for us to moving up a division next year and I will ask a wild card for at list one or two 1 week stage races.
