@ welker3257 Thanks a lot for your comment, I will do my best to go on with the story and improve the Team
@ sutty68 Short break in Italy has been positive for Tomas indeed!
"It is a flat 3 stages category 1 race for sprinters. Our main goal here should be the KoM and to collect some money."
STAGE 1 - ITT

Mountain Alberio 8 pts
I got great news from my agent at last
They found 3 potential sponsors.
All will offer a Sole Sponsor Contract.
The best offer being
I am very tempted to accept right now because:
1. Jelly Belly being at 281k it is very unlikly they could put on the table a competitive offer,
2. My maximum wages for next year will be 450k x2 = 900k if I am correct. So 1,018k will let me space to hire a top trainer on top, we don't really need more, do we?
3. This will end the search and release budget constraint, and we need money to pay our new recruits from October to January next year.
So what should I do? Try to negotiate more? And if yes how much?
Go with their 1,018k offer?
Or wait for new potential sponsor(s)/Jelly Belly's possible offer?

I would negotiate with the sponsor, but I wouldn't go up by too much.

STAGE 1 - Flat
"This race is a real opportunitty for the team: a rather short ITT, 3 hilly stages in North America, almost at home.
Tomas, you wanted to assume your role of leader, now is the time!
I expect minimum a Top 5, real objective would be Top 3 and overperforming would mean winning GC and/or a stage on top of it.
Alaistair, Charles and Ken you should target the KoM.
So today is flat but KoM quest begins today.
Ken, you are also an outsider for a possible sprint, so you stay with Tomas in the bunch and see what you can achieve.
Good luck guys."
Huff and Powers make various breakaways but it get cought, with few kilometres to go, Alberio accelerates with Hanson in his wheel
But they come short and Hanson couldn't resist the pack's power.

STAGE 2 - Flat
"At least you tried yesterday! Charles, well done for the KoM, try to make it today too. Alaistar, if you see Charles is in pain take over in the breakaway.
Ken you try a real sprint today."
Nice jersey in today's breakaway
Hanson takes the right wheel until

Alberio gives it all but finishes in a second group. At his place.

STAGE 5
"So far Tomas you have done your job correctly. Today is a tricky day, a favorite or two might be suprised and teammates lacking energy at the end of the stage, so stay focus.
Alaistar, you have been fantastic both yesterday and 2 days ago. Forget the breakaway, you are a favorite now. Target Top 10!
Charles, makes the breakaway to definitly win the KoM!"
Huff makes the breakaway with Menzies and some more and secures his jersey however he couldn't follow Menzies' pace.
Duarte is just too strong and his attack has been decisive again. Alberio has done well but comes short again.

STAGE 6
"Last stage today. Tomas, it is for you, you should attack just before the last hill and try to make the stage. Alastair, follow him if you can. Top 3 and Top 5 are possible, as well as stage win."
At least Alberio does what he is asked for
But once again Duarte is too strong.

As usual, I took your advise and you indeed
Because look what happensa couple of days later:
So what now? Should I take 3 years with Rock Racing?
Should I negotiate 1 or 2 year(s)?
Or should I sign with Dual Temp?
I love to give you this kind of choices

I would go 2/3 with Rock racing but only if you feel the contract would enable the team to become a well established pro-conti team.
Otherwise I would take 1 year with Dual Temp and look to get a bigger sponsor after that. |

Well you have decided not to agree lately, don't you
So I made the decision and went with welker3257's suggestion. The reason is I plan to move to WT sooner rather than later so I would enjoy another budget increase next year.
So here is the situation : next year riders wage is capped at 900k i.e. 75k / month, signed riders will cost 33,25k / month so we have got 41,75k / month available to recruit
Let's start with our top priority recruit:
1. How much should we dedicate from this 41k?
2. What profile should we look for?

A sprinter is indeed realy needed in this team.
And I would use as much money as possible to invest in future greats. |

"Hi guys, we are up to a long race. 14 days racing will give opportunities to everyone!
Of course Tomas will be our leader for the GC. But with 5 Mountain stages and an ITT it might be hard to get a top 3, but a top 5 is possible, depending on the competition.
We have 14 opportunities to wn a stage, so 1 win should be a reasonable objective.
Overall win in KoM might be hard competing with the GC men, but wearing it is more than doable and after all, may be...
Let's enjoy South America as our team usually does!"
STAGE 1 - Prologue
Rank | Name | Time | 1 | Zakkari Dempster | 7'33 | 2 | Ken Hanson | + 2 | 3 | Johnnie Walker | + 3 | 4 | Scott Zwisanski | + 4 | 5 | Ryan Anderson | s.t. | 6 | Tomas Alberio | s.t. | 7 | Lawson Craddock | + 5 | 8 | Ian Boswell | s.t. | 9 | Michael Friedman | s.t. | 10 | Magno Prado Nazaret | + 6 |
STAGE 2
"Today is the big day. Potentially. The competition is weak and yesterday's results have been impressive. Tomas, you are the big favorite for today's stage and thus to claim the leader jersey! We might even have a better shoot than we though to the final GC, but that would mean taking as much time as possible today and tomorrow on pure climbers.
Plus you love this kind of profile, I don't need to tell you what to do. Alastair, please save yourself to help Tomas in the final today.
Jeremy and Ken go in the breakaway to claim KoM points."
Powers has been in breakaway to collect KoM points but everyone has been cought quite early and various attacks continue to happen.
Just before the final climb started, Loutit attacks with Alberio in his wheel. Only the yellow jersey Dempster answers and they easily catch the breaker.
Then everything moves as plan and
STAGE
Rank | Name | Time | 1 | Tomas Alberio | 3h38'56 | 2 | Zakkari Dempster | + 1'17 | 3 | Jonathan Patrick McCarty | + 2'31 | 4 | Alastair Loutit | + 2'48 | 5 | Bernard Sulzberger | s.t. | 6 | Jesse Anthony | + 3'06 | 7 | Michael Friedman | s.t. | 8 | Nick Aitken | s.t. | 9 | Luis Alberto Romero Amaran | s.t. | 10 | Flavio De Luna Davila | s.t. |
STAGE 3
"Fantastic stage yesterday! And guess what today will be the same. Tomas, you not only are the stage favorite but also the yellow jersey. You can't loose today!"
Powers goes for the KoM points and as he does, a gap open with the bunch on the penultiam climb of the day.
Some leaders have come back but not all of them and at the bottom of the last climb
For the now well known conclusion!
STAGE
Rank | Name | Time | 1 | Tomas Alberio | 3h56'37 | 2 | Zakkari Dempster | + 2'52 | 3 | Bernard Sulzberger | + 3'18 | 4 | Alastair Loutit | + 3'40 | 5 | Michael Friedman | s.t. | 6 | Jesse Anthony | + 4'04 | 7 | Flavio De Luna Davila | s.t. | 8 | David Boily | s.t. | 9 | Magno Prado Nazaret | s.t. | 10 | Ryan Anderson | + 4'24 |
STAGE 4
"I have no word big enough for yesterday's race! But now we can believe in the final win. Today will be crucial. Tomas you are an outsider and our goal mut be to defend the leader jersey
Jeremy you go for the early KoM points then we can let a breakaway given no top climbers are in it. In the final climb Tomas, try to stick with the best, if you don't loose time, the final win would be close!"
Surprisingly Dempster attacks on the flat
Our team maintains a good rythm and soon enough
As the last climb starts, another suprise for us : V Australia imposes a very strong tempo to the bunch. May be to protect Sulzberger's 3rd place in GC?
Whatever the reason, the bunch splits and some big names get cought in the 2nd part
Just 3 kilometres from the finish line and the main favorites are far from the front. Alberio certainly is a better climber than Sulzberger or Dempster, so
And could you believe it?
STAGE
Rank | Name | Time | 1 | Tomas Alberio | 5h00'25 | 2 | Zakkari Dempster | + 31 | 3 | Bernard Sulzberger | s.t. | 4 | Dan Bowman | s.t. | 5 | Michael Friedman | + 1'29 | 6 | Flavio De Luna Davila | s.t. | 7 | Jesse Anthony | + 1'39 | 8 | Richard Lang | s.t. | 9 | Alastair Loutit | s.t. | 10 | Chris Barton | s.t. |
STAGE 5
"We still have 4 mountain stages to compete but it seems that the comptition has given up on GC. Today is another big day, let's enjoy it a little bit longer"
Good news as two out of the 3 stage favorites decide for the break away
The team does a great job, maintining them at 1'30 on the flat. We close the gap just before the 1st big climb and let Shaw break away.
At the beginning of the last climb, Pedraza Morales the best climber of the bunch attacks. With 2 other Moutain stages to come we couldn't risk loosing too much time today. With no team mate available, Alberio has to do the job himself.
Then he stays in his wheels recovering as the wing is huge today. Despite his poor climbing capacity, Dempster attacks out of the bunch and passes us. Pedraza Morales tries to counter but is short. So Alberio first come back and continues to accelerate and alone, closes the gap to Shaw .
Shaw does not relay but a few kilometres later
STAGE
Rank | Name | Time | 1 | Tomas Alberio | 5h53'05 | 2 | Zakkari Dempster | + 1'37 | 3 | Stuart Shaw | + 1'53 | 4 | Flavio De Luna Davila | + 2'27 | 5 | Bernard Sulzberger | s.t. | 6 | Nick Aitken | s.t. | 7 | Michael Friedman | s.t. | 8 | Jesse Anthony | s.t. | 9 | Luis Alberto Romero Amaran | + 2'43 | 10 | Walter Fernando Pedraza Morales | s.t. |
CLASSIFICATION AFTER 5 STAGES
Rank | Name | Time | 1 | Tomas Alberio | 18h35'57 | 2 | Zakkari Dempster | + 6'32 | 3 | Bernard Sulzberger | + 9'43 | 4 | Michael Friedman | + 11'26 | 5 | Flavio De Luna Davila | + 12'02 | 6 | Jesse Anthony | + 12'10 | 7 | Magno Prado Nazaret | + 12'30 | 8 | Nick Aitken | + 12'43 | 9 | Alastair Loutit | + 13'08 | 10 | Ryan Anderson | + 13'18 | Points Alberio 53 pts

@ all yeah he is crushing the competition!
That being said, here are the stats of the 2 in GC
@ HaRe all stats in the coming Quarterly review, but Alberio is not impressive 62 in Mountain and 65 in hills, 61 in TT, etc
The competition is weak and even the stronger having lost time in the first stages are not pushing too hard

OK, so I got: 2 puncher/GC leaders, 1 sprinter.
We'll start with this and see what we've go left for cobbler and/or team mate(s)
First round is to select 2 punchers/GC riders to propose on July the 1st, next will come the Sprinters (though Gallopin in the list is also a sprinter)
I can propose many names to your votes
Keep in mind our total budget of 41k for at least 2 of those guys and 1 sprinter
What are the names you would like me to propose? Should I change the amount and/or duration?
De Gent wants 24k for 2 years,
Monfort wants 20k for 3 years,
Spilak wants 18k for 2 years,
Vanendert wants 20k for 2 years,
Hoogerlandwants 15k for 2 years,
Gerdemann wants 13k for 2 years,
Bakelants wants 9k for 1 year,
Gallopin wants 10k for 2 years,
Koren wants 8k for 2 years,
Pozzovivo wants 7,5k for 2 years,
Pineau Cedric wants 6k for 2 years
Nerz wants 4,25k for 2 years
Please not that many of above riders are currently asking less than they currently have which makes it doubtfull they will accepts our weak team offer.
That is to be considered in our choice for July 1st 1st offer isn't it?

I reckon the squad needs more numbers, so I would go with Nerz and Pineau and spend a lot of money on a top cobbler/sprinter or a Climber (Maybe a Colombian or someone like a Leipheimer). The other riders might think Jellybelly is too small to join at the moment.
What is with Alberio up 6 minutes! Did everyone else go the wrong way...... for 5 stages! Great!
