KUURNE - BRUXELLES - KUURNE

Let me get right to the point here, Kuurne - Bruxelles - Kuurne, that is.

I decided on Jens Keukeleire instead of Benjamin Verraes for this race, mostly due to his speed and experience.

General Tactics: Ride aggressively. Greg and Damien lead the race. If it comes down to a sprint, Tyler is our one and only man.

THE RACE

Guillaime Van Keirsbulck got into the breakaway and ensured us some good tv-time.

It was a nervous race, there was a constant struggle to get to the front and it rained attacks at one point. In all the confusion, David Veilleux took a nasty fall, but he finished the race nonetheless.

But in the end, we set up an amazing sprint train, like I have rarely seen before. Kenneth Vanbilsen, Damien Gaudin, Rik Steenacker, Greg Van Avermaet and lastly Tyler Farrar. We destroyed the competition and Tyler confirms his talent as a strong sprinter!

TROPHÉE SAMYN

Two days later we sent a young and mostly inexperienced squad to Dour, to race in the Trophée Samyn.

Let me guide you through our race in four pictures.

KEEPING A CLOSE EYE

These opening races in Belgium have been extremely important in the development of Rik Steenacker, one of the three talents I'm keeping a close eye on. A small review on his performance:

- Results: 15th in the Omloop and 8th in Kuurne on his first attempt. I have only positive things to say about that.
- Work: Because of the race situations, he didn't have to work a lot. Did his job in the lead-out for Tyler, though. Nothing to say about it.
- Sprint speed: despite finishing only 19th in Samyn, it was an important race. He was the absolute fastest in the bunch sprint and that'll give him confidence.
- Mentally: I've spoken to him and he seems happy about himself. He was awfully nervous and has low self-esteem, but these races have definitely helped. Being part of a team victory was an incredible rush for him.

That's it for now. Paris - Nice and Tirreno - Adriatico are coming closer!

Nice to see the pics now, though even without them I would still be following.

Great 1-2 finish as has been said and clearly Tyler is growing in confidence. Can he get up and challenge the elite when it comes to it.

Rik is showing great promise, lets see how the other 2 do given they are being a little overshadowed at the moment.

Keep up the good work in the game and on the story Ian.

krisa - Thanks, it was a great moment!

Daggen - My favorite sound of the whole world Grin

baia - Veilleux with two falls, there's only so much a man can take Frown Thank you!

welker3257 - Seems our plan is working out so far, but it's still early!

Jesleyh - Glad you're so happy that I'm back Grin

owen10ozzy - Great to know you'd even follow without screenshots Smile Tyler is on a great level already, but in Qatar he was blown away by the big sprinters. His win at Kuurne will boost his confidence a lot, indeed!

And, yes, it's time for Butler and Beaufort to come out of the shadow! So far only 1 of the 3 talents has been showing himself Smile

547984 - Thanks!

sutty68 - As a new Belgian team, it's an important victory Wink

Thank you all for following and reading! Got some spare time on my hands today, expect one or two updates!

KEEPING A CLOSE EYE

Today I'm a happy man.

I'm more than that. Let me present you the new talent on the block: Rik Steenacker! The word is out on the street now. A 20-year old winning a stage and the overall classification of the Driedaagse van West-Vlaanderen? I think he's been added to quite some shortlists overnight!

Stage 2

In stage 2, the professionalism of Rik was shown in a different light.

Rik winning by a large margin

After the race, he told me he had done several reckon routes of the final 20 kilometers. He knew you could win easily if you were ahead in the final corner. He overtook Benjamin at the right time and made way for an impressive victory!

Thanks to his prologue start, he was now in yellow! This was also a strong showing by Benjamin, who has a lot of potential, you can just see that!

Stage 3

Today the whole team worked hard to secure the leader's jersey. But we decided not to get greedy with the team. We made way for other teams to fight for the mountain jersey.

This time no technical finish, just a straight line and the sprint speed. Rik did all right and, most importantly, kept the leader's jersey. As a 20-year old, he wins the Driedaagse Van West-Vlaanderen!

PARIS - NICE

Paris - Nice has started. Our starting squad includes Greg Van Avermaet, Kris Boeckmans and Maxime Monfort.

The prologue was not a success for us, though. Firstly, Maxime is slightly ill, so I think we can forget about a good GC. Then we decided to give Kris a chance in the sprints here. Greg will be leading him out.

KEEPING A CLOSE EYE - PART II

Vincent Beaufort has shown quite some force in the Strade Bianchi and in the Roma Maxima Classic. In the Strade Bianchi, he launched Tyler Farrar to a fourth place. In the Roma Maxima, he rode about 45 kilometers at the head of the race, setting an incredible pace. On top of that, he secured a top 20 for himself. He's showing incredible talent!

See you later,
- Butler -

PARIS - NICE

Paris - Nice was a mediocre success. Maxime Monfort took a 16th place. He could've done better, but being ill it's a good performance. Greg Van Avermaet and Jens Keukeleire couldn't quite perform in the sprinting.

Henry Vergnaud was the real show of Paris - Nice. The 20 year-old neopro won the overall classification and the mountain classification. All the big teams are checking their wallets to see if they can afford this talent for next year.

My good boy, Tom (Butler), showed himself for about half an hour, which was good. In the toughest mountain stage, he escaped out of the peloton, a solo breakaway attempt.

imageshack.us/a/img7/1742/29kq.jpg

However, on the penultimate climb, he got caught up by what was left of the pack. A nice showing, though.

TIRRENO - ADRIATICO

Ruling against proper judgement, I let Rik Steenacker stay home in order to give Vincent Beaufort a starting chance. It was a tough decision, though.

Tyler Farrar sprinted against the prime of the world here. He came close on one attempt, but is still not the world sprinter he once was. He came in 6th and 8th in stages 2 and 3, though.

Boasson Hagen, getting trained perfectly at Sky, took the overall win! Kevin Seeldraeyers aimed for the top 15 but disappointed.
