Istanbul, simply since i don't want to get up in the middle of the night for the important parts and as i already said, if Istanbul gets it, Euros 2020 Semis and Final go to Munich, which i could reach easily enough. (Well easier than Istanbul anyway)
So yeah, the reasons aren't really objective or anything, but they're enough to convince me.

Better set my alarm for 3am...
With all possible respect, when it comes to sports Asia shouldn't get anything until they move the continent over to Europe.

Good to see Tokyo taking it (or rather Madrid not taking it), the faces of the Japanese dudes sure did radiate happiness. I love how the Spanish propagand... I mean media have managed to talk about the defeat of Madrid's bid not mentioning "Operación Puerto" once. That's like talking about the financial crysis not ever saying "bank".
I propose Blinky to be the Olympic mascot for Tokyo, can't think of a more appropiate one!

Istanbul was perfect, why not to choose them?

Not enough bribery, or too much uncertainty about what the Middle-East (not sure if Turkey strictly belongs there) will be in 7 years and during the time needed to build everything up ? |

Give it to Syria, it would make the skeet shooting a hell of a lot more exciting.

I nominate Godzilla, I can imagine him appearing out of the water during the rowing events.

Yeah that was one of the best long distance finishes I've seen. I obviously wanted Mo to win and was sure he was gonna do it one point but a great final kick there to deny him. Great race, great respect among them all too.
I dont see a problem with Tokoyo tbh. I don't think the timings will be much diff to Bejing and I managed to see a lot of the events from there. I prefer asian events to american ones time wise anyway. The best stuff is also planned for evenings in host country. Thats means the best stuff will be on during the day for europe. If it was in America's, the best stuff is happening at 2-3am in the morning which is annoying. |

Renaud Lavillenie is now the second highest man in pole vault history. He made 6.08 meters this night in Poland. |

The athletics season is slowly but surely getting underway, and we kick of with the news that Asafa Powel has been banned for 18 months due to use of performance enhancing drugs. Since he was banned back in last July, the retroactive ban only lasts until December this year.
A panel of the Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission announced their decision Thursday in Jamaica's capital.
Powell's ban begins from the date of his sample collection on June 21, 2013. That means he's eligible to return to competition on Dec. 20.

So, who's watching the London Marathon tomorrow? Are someone going to watch it live?
By the looks of it, this might be the marathon to end all marathons when you consider the field.

Won't be broadcast here, but I'll look at the results with attention.
Curious to see how Mo Farah will fare. From what I read on letsrun.com , it's totally unlikely he'll win there. Should get GB record though (2h07).
edit : It was on eurosport here. Kimsang takes it, 1 minute above his PB (which is the WR) but still beats the course record.
It started extremely fast.
Farah never near the front, seems to have cracked after ~20 miles. Not beating the GB record either it seems.
He doesn't really have the style either, doing long footsteps, he looks weird among "real" marathon runners.

Well, it was a fun race and I'm happy for Wilson Kipsang. I had him pegged as my favourite.
Farah did a reasonably good performance considering he's not a marathon runner. I thought he would break he british record, but a top 10 finish is something he should be pleased with. That's atleast what I think.
He didn't die after the race either, so he's got that going for him which is nice.

I'm glad to finally see the Diamond League-season get underway. There were some solid results, and I'm pleased with Ndures result seeing as it's the first competition.
Now we'll just wait for him to say he's feeling great, then get injured and cry whilst being interviewed.

Henrik Kristoffersen seems to be doing well so far this season, setting a new national record at the one mile with 3:53:62 in the Prefontaine Classics.
