Lotto-Belisol Quotes:
Sporting Director Alex Pilsen "We had high expectations here and rightly so, this is our backyard and we should be making a mark on the race. In the end its nothing short of a disgrace and something we have to rectify in tomorrows Kuurne and then as we tackle the monuments. Im not happy and its up to the team to start to impress"

Lotto-Belisol Quotes:
Sporting Director Alex Pilsen "Obviously the team didn't listen or heed my words yesterday. Again we had a plan, they didn't ride to that and now I have to explain to our sponsors why we are unable to compete in our home races. They will look at Boonen and Omega-Pharma and question how we can even be at their level and right now, id agree with them"

Probably... as mentioned im not an expert on cycling and things like this will crop up as I learn about the game and sport. What I do is try to find the results of the real race and see what riders the AI gives me... (I assume the AI would pick the best it can).

I believe the Kuurne race was cancelled IRL so I had to trust the AI, whilst I also then changed it up a bit to be more Belgian.

I can only apologise for my mistakes and im glad of the feedback as it will help me be more selective and less reliant on the AI for my simulated race lineup.

IN THE MONTH THAT WAS (February)
presented by

i167.photobucket.com/albums/u150/elsworthmay/eurosport_zpscd6baf38.jpg

TOP MOMENTS

Tom Boonen going back-to-back in the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad / Kuurne Bruxelles Kuurne races, as he stamps his authority on Belgian cycling.

Chris Froome's return to cycling was eagerly anticipated, but he got upstaged in the Vuelta a Mallorca by BMC's young rider Teejay Van Garderen as the American cleaned up in the Balearics.

Another British rider Mark Cavendish also started his season, this time a bit better than Froome as the Manx Missle cleaned up in Qatar as the heat took its toll on the field.

Lotto-Belisol have had a miserable opening to their season, but they will be encouraged by the 3rd place gained by Jelle Vanendertin the Tour of Oman. However their poor showing in their home nation in recent races will have lost them alot of face.

NEWS

Speed machine' Peter Sagan returns to the saddle on the 6th March for the Tirreno-Adriatico. Cannondale have high hopes for the coming campaign with Sagan among their ranks again.

Garmin-Sharp have a head-start on scouting this year as they have already got in on the act with young rider Gift Knox. Knox will be tracked and supported by the team as they hope this Gift is the one they always wanted!

Applications for Wildcard places in the classic races are pouring in. 7 teams are vying for 3 slots in the prestigious Giro d'Italia with IAM Cycling, Vini Fantini and Bardiani Valvole the favourites to secure the lucrative rides.

WHOSE UP/DOWN

Tom Boonen has his stock rise due to 2 wins in the month.

Chris Froome, albeit with an impressive looking 2nd place in the Vuelta a Mallorca, his failure to win has already put question marks on his validity as Tour de France favourite.

QUOTE OF THE MONTH

Tom Boonen (Omega-Pharma Quick-Step) said after winning the 2nd of his home races "Its fantastic for me, I showed I am the best in Belgium and this team is the place to be. The field could maybe have been a bit stronger, but I still would have won here...."

Well, maybe you should've sent Roelandts, classics specialist, to Omloop and Kuurne! Wink

Great result in Oman!

Lotto-Belisol Quotes:
Marcel Sieberg "Its a bit of relief, happiness and disappointment all at the same time. I didn't expect to win the 2nd stage but that happened and then the hope rises for something more special, but credit to Vichot, he held on and we couldn't break them down"

Thanks Ian,

Yeah in hindsight I made a huge error... part of my logic was that if they are not UWT ranking events then ill use the 'weaker' team members.

I think ive a better lineup for Paris-Nice, so lets hope for something positive there.

The German' defeats the English'

Above: Sir! Bradley Wiggins misses out on winning the Prologue to the Paris-Nice race as Omega-Pharma's Tony Martin takes home the honours

Wiggins outshone by Martin
With this being the 71st running of this race and the 2nd UCI Pro Tour points scoring event of the year, all the teams came here prepared and ready for a tough 8 stage event that began and will end with an ITT stage.

Today a short 2.9km ride through Houilles wouldnt set the race alight, but give someone and some team a chance to shine in a little bit of glory before we get into the slog of stages 2 thru 7.

The early pace was set by Rohan Dennis of Garmin, before he was edged out by the young talent Kwiatkowski of Omega-Pharma. These 2 remained in the lead positions through most of the event, before Sky's Bradley Wiggins eclipsed them to take what seemed like the winning time.

Tony Martin (Omega-Pharma) "You just have to ride it fast, theres nothing to the stage its just under 4 minutes and I just got out there and thought its a chance for some glory"

Alas Sky and Wiggins would have to settle for second best as the German rider Tony Martin snuck through to claim the eventual stage win by 3 seconds, to give him a slice of glory as we head into the more tricky routes on offer.

Short prologue, meaning that despite the placings the Lotto riders are still in it.

Curious what this squad can do here. Dehaes for some top 10 in sprints, Bak for stage win and De Clerq for GC, maybe? Smile
