Yeah ok... in PCM12 i tried it a week (with some bought legendary riders) and didn't like it much.
Now pretty much the same, maybe i'm dumb but i find the mode confusing. I made a selection but i'm not sure wether i get a flat, mountain or hilly stage. So i know there is a stages list, but you get no idea which one you get. And when it's finally known what stage you do get, you can't change the selection anymore.
How the hell does that work??
When you click to look for a game, keep an eye on the top of the screen, in the middle.
The race profile appears up there (and you can click on it to zoom in) and then in the top right there is a countdown of around 70 seconds - during which time you can change your team and equipment.

...and you can have up to 5 setups. At the start you have 2 setups (0+1) but you can buy 3 more with coins.

Unfortunately this is just with those real money coins...and not with earned coins... |

Don't worry. You only have to rise 50 lvls to earn 5 cyans |

Last year they gave some compensation cyans because of shitty servers and crashes and bugs. Maybe they'll do the same this year. Those 3 extra slots would be really handy. I would pay like 1000 coins for each, easily. |

Best thing to do is make use of the stars system that is there to rate your riders.
Ive given 3 stars to climbers, 2 stars to riders for the flat stages (good sprint and/or good flat and/or good hill) and 1 stars to time triallists. Which tends to leave cobbled riders as the best 0 stars.
Most silver riders get a star, then around 15 bronze per category. Filter your team with stars as the highest priority, and it becomes much quicker to select a team when the profile appears.

So you did exactly what I did.
1* - sprinters
2* - puncheurs
3* - climbers
0* - time trialists/cobblers and a few leadout men with high flat

Yeh, although I tend to get more time trials than hill stages so it made more sense to give them a star. Plus puncheurs can easily slot in to 'sprinter' squad or 'climber' squad depending on their other stats, especially during the week when at max I am playing 2 or 3 races a day.

Just had one single time trial so far.
Recently lots of sprint stages and mountain stages. (2 wins with Dombrowski )
Guys like Bole or Impey are good examples. I have them at sprinters. Just have to remember when a stage suits him. |

So, when I installed the patch earliar today, suddenly, all my PCM 2012 Armada riders appeared on my team, without uses. So, I sold them all and got over 6000 coins. Big bug advantage there. And Roturn, Bole is a beast with his HIL + SP stat. |

I've had 2 long TTs, at least 3 short TTs and a TTT. The short TTs are fine because theres no AI, but in long TTs the AI is included - so they take an age, but are good for coins. I think Ive only had 2 actual hill rated stages - although quite a few flat ones have been puncheur suited. Even on the really flat ones, its nice to have a 70+ hill rider to send in the breakaway incase no human player decides to chase.
I want to play your mountain stages if Dombrowski wins
Cobbles are my best so far. Only had two, but won both of them with Rast.

I won 3 mountain stages yet. 2 with Dombrowski and 1 with Perez or so.
I usually send 2 ~72 climbers into the break. One is chasing with 65%, one is waiting for the final.
If no player is chasing behind, the last climb might have a 20min gap to the passive AI then.
On sprint stages I prefer to chase with 2-3 riders even though I have no chance to win with Appolonio. Still I normally finish as best player except somebody with a gold sprinter is there.
My only time trial I won with Larsson against a player Contador, who was probably already a bit exhausted. Not the strongest AI riders there.
Never had a cobbled race as well. Not sure who is my best cobbler. Might be some average ~74-76 guy.

Well there are no AI riders in a Time Trial
Cobbled races are really fun. Especially if your rider can sprint. |

Sure. I saw it one time in a Prologue. Think this is a small bug. |

There is no reason for AI in TT's. It would just be a waste of time too. |

Yes. Thats why i named it as a bug. I played TT 15 times and there was AI only in one. |

There was for me as well. Took a hell of a time with 20 teams and just 4-5 players. |
