At Ridley, we have always been trying to make cycling cleaner than it already was. Bringing these bloodbags is illegal and we will obviously hand it in to the police. If they find who did this, the person in question shall be sued for libel

Ah so that explains the New Great Wall of Russia brought to you by Tinkoff Credit Systems! Unfortunately for the Russians, the Mongols have experience in walking around walls to get to the other side
There may be a growing consensus in the media against these products... but, from experience, what a team manager preaches to the media doesn't always reveal the full truth
It might be behind schedule, but hopefully Paris Nice will start racing later today. |

As you can see, the route, finishing with a time-trial up the Col d'Eze, presents a pretty demanding challenge, especially since most of the climbers haven't really had a good chance to warm up their legs yet.
One man who has warmed up in the pre-season is Andy Schleck, who took a promising victory at Tour of Luxembourg recently.
However, Luxembourg is one thing, but Paris-Nice is certainly raced amongst a somwhat higher calibre of racers.
The stand-out name in terms of pure ability is fans favourite "Leeeeeroy" Verlinden (Sporza), who takes his childhood nickname from some really old internet meme, apparently. He is regarded as one of the absolute best climbers in the peloton and, if he is on form, could really put on a show in the race's steeper sections.
Other stand-out names include Colombian duo Sergio Henao (Commerzbank) and Rigoberto Uran (Caixa). But perhaps a better tip might be Valerio Agnoli (Bianchi), who is coming off a strong performance at Luxembourg.
The sprinters were given consideration in drawing up the race route, but they appear to have been drawn to the Eire Sprinters Tour which begins later in the month. Cavendish (Sporza) is certainly the pick of the bunch here, but his team might struggle to find assistance in chasing any escapees on the two flat stages, especially since they must distribute their resources between Verlinden and the Manx Missile!

PARIS - NICE
Stage 1
There is a break of 7... Reyes (Caixa), Contreras (Santander), Kartsensen (Sodexo), Hamilton (Unicef), Franco (Ridley), Romilly (Eurosport).
They are joined by Fabio Aru of Bianchi, who, since it was announced that pro. racing would return, has really struggled to find the promise that he once showed. He must have "burned out" early.
Rodolfo Romilly takes the KOM sprint to earn a mountains jersey for his Eurosport team tommorow.
Sporza take up the reigns, and - with help from Ethan Ryder's Eneco team - reel in the break with 20km to go.
The trains line up for the first mass sprint of the season: Cavendish has ran out of team-mates and must follow the Alka duo of Morkov and Foseca.
Ethan Ryder is latched onto Cav's wheel.
On the right, De La Cruz (Logitech) has done a solid job of bringing Alexandre Baggio to the front.
Baggio drops back as Cavendish looks to come around Fonseca.
A clear victory for The Manx Missile! He takes the first leader's jersey, though no doubt his team-mate Verlinden will be keen to exchange jerseys in tommorow's hilltop finish.

Ahhhh, are my team, Gazprom, even taking part in this race. Judging by the performance in stage 1, probably not. |
