Great positioning by Vanoverschelde, and a surprisingly good stage result
The coming stage will be all about positioning, and hopefully Spilak will be right up there, meaning he won't loose time to puncheurs/other riders if time gaps appears. I do suspect even Bennati, in Maglia Rosa, might mix it with Trofimov and Phinney for the stage win, as the hill doesn't look long enough to tire the sprinters too much.
Shame Swift was blocked and thus not able to challenge Bennati, who is looking set for a roll. I fancy his chances for the point jersey. Congratulations with two wins in a row, cio! |

Some fantastic flat stages so far, congrats to Puma.
Wish we could have hung onto the KOM jersey, I was hopeful McCarthy would be able to stick in a break and trade out Aussies in the jersey.
Stage 4 will be interesting, hard to pick against Trofimov, but could also suit Ricco. For Phinney I hope everything stays on the same time so that none of the GC guys get into the Maglia Rosa before Stage 5, or ideally the TT.

Thank you to everyone supporting Puma
How our journey went in those two years I am part of this fantastic and addictive game now!
Promoting right away was incredible, and already leaving such an important mark on the game as a sprint- and talents-focused team (definitely one of the most prestigious you can do as such) is fairly difficult to believe and value appropriately...
Plus, the actual important goal isn't to be successful alone (everyone can buy a great rider for 1.5m), but to be appreciated in this community of managers, maybe up to a point where others genuinely enjoy us performing well.
And as many of you showed today, we achieved that goal pretty well
Back to the racing:
Minimum goal achieved. Puuh
The aforementioned second goal of wearing the maglia rosa until the hilly double is reached as well.
Staying in the lead tomorrow should be easily possible as many lower-ranked races showed so far, but this game is (luckily) really unpredictable at times...
The points lead is surprisingly good so far as well, but no high hopes there before week 2 is done.

This is way better form from Forero than it used to be in the last season. Every point counts.

Just catched up with the ealy Giro action and it is very enjoyable from the spectators point of view. The reports are absolutely amazing, as was the preview, really great job as always SN!
And you were rewarded with 1-2 in the first stage. Also congrats to Puma and Bennati, who took over from stage 2 with two consecutive wins. I also root for your team Cio and i like your words about community of managers, i feel the same.
Stage 4 should be no gapper imo and likes of Trofimov and Phinney will battle it for the win.
Oh and i feel sorry for managers of distanced GC favourites, there is always someone paying lesser attention in early GT stages, tough luck.

Well I hoped for more than 6th for Claeys but when the positioning at the finish is so bad you don't deserve more than 6th.
EDIT: So Stauff still is after 1/4 of the Giro my best stage result rider with 5th place

It's really too bad that Fothen and Ulissi lost that 1'30 on the pack on stage 2. Ulissi could have been fighting for a good GC spot and perhaps the young riders jersey, while Fothen would have been able to fight for top 5 GC. Having lost already 2mins+ on some of his competitors is really poor. I had a hope that he would be going into top 5 after the TT.

Well, i guess you can't always be lucky with time gaps. I doubt there would have been a time gap, if Ricco would have been able to pass a bit sooner. If he had actually positioned himself right, he might actually have gotten a podium on the stage.

Very, very good to see Spilak make the cut and gain 29 seconds to most overall contenders. Congratulations to mattiasgt though, Trofimov looks set for pink after stage 5.
Nice to have Augustyn and the two riders on loan, Shushemoin and Topchanyuk close to the front of the peloton as well in the sprint. They'll be Spilak's strongest helpers on the tough stages, and this was a good sign for what's to come, hopefully already on the next stage.
And now, let the "real" action begin on stage 5. Hopefully the riders give us a good show |

Spilak and Trofimov the big winners of that stage.
And shm about the AI once again slowing down. With two full teams it shouldn`t be a problem to organize the pace. Duarte and Costagli will have problems to even top20 now and I was really looking forward for Costagli`s GC chances here.
Now he will have time to get this KoM jersey. |

That was...close
Exactly what I expected: Swift doesn't give a fuck, and we were all over the front end of the peloton.
Congrats to Koenigsegg once again, it seems rather certain Trofimov will be in Pink tomorrow.
Good to see Phinney and Ricco couldn't gain ground in the points classification. Keeping off Trofimov was always going to be close to impossible, but second place wouldn't cut our budget significantly.
I see stages 5, 10 12, 14, 17 for Trofimov and stages 6, 11, (12), 18, 19 and 21 for Bennati.
The later stages obviously have an increased chance for Trofimov to do well based on the better regeneration, plus points may arrive in dribs and drabs in the mountains and TTs as well.
Very excited to see where 45 points of advantage will lead us.

All I can say, without swearing profusely, is that I'm very, very glad I have not forked out any money on any recent PCM game. If this is how the gameplay works out on a pretty basic, simple flat stage with an uphill finish, and was to happen in a game I was playing (and had paid for), I'd be wanting my money back.
I would be faintly optimistic in previous editions of the game that Wiggle would now be super aggressive, getting into every break of the remaining stages, with Costagli possibly challenging for the KoMs by going on some epic solo rides, but with what I've seen so far of the gameplay, I suspect Wiggle will continue to do absolutely and utterly nothing.
Disappointed. A lot. |

What terrible luck for Wiggle and Venchi, that just seemed absurd.
In that context I can't be too disappointed in Phinney losing 29 seconds, but he should have been better positioned. He needs pink after the TT and i'm paranoid if Trofimov goes into that with a minute and the jersey he may not give it up.
Good ride from McCarthy though, really glad to see him performing well early on in the season.

Gotta be well pleased with that result, win and 29 seconds gained over all other GC contenders bar Spilak for Trofimov. Sweet. Pink jersey's next.
Did not expect Koren to be the main contender for the stage though. Impressive stuff by him.

I sent Koren here to do TT's and grunt work. Nice to see him aggressive and even on the podium!

This Giro is going to be insane. My bet is that Phinney is going to take the Pink tomorrow. |

3rd and 5th provisional, who would say that before start? The only think I´m still missing is a stage win

Sella was isolated there and fought very well to keep with the other favourites, when others continued to lose time.
I actually think the time gaps are pretty sensible on this stage when you compare it to like grand tour stages.
Things are going to be really stretched after the next stage, the gaps could be pretty horrific to look at for those with chrono haters.
