So the riders will take shuttle buses and cars from the 117km point to 163km and the time gap to the break will be kept at the foot of the climb.
from Cycling news live feed. Thats... very weird!
This is so weird, they should make the decision before the race (there are things like weather forecast exactly for this), now important part of the race outcome will come from who will have a good time sitting in the bus? I lol on this.

And the worst thing, for Alakagom, is that Sky doesn't have a bus. |

From race organisers RCS:
Due to the unfavourable weather, the Race Management – by agreement with the Commissaires Panel – has decided to neutralize the race in the stretch of route between Ovada and Arenzano (subject to further assessment of the weather conditions in Arenzano).
The race time of the breakaways and their lead over the chasing group will be “frozen” in Ovada and the status quo will then be resumed in Arenzano, where the race will start again around 2:30 p.m.
Official statement from RCS

Not really, someone will chance the conditions on the Poggio or a late attack will take it with this sort of weather hampering the chasers.
So with that said... Offredo anyone?
And holy shit, that is incredibly weird, I just saw the reduced distance. So yeah... maybe the sprinters could stand a chance then after all, though I still don't like their odds.

Well, I applaud this decision. It's all about safety, so they acted right. |

This will play into the hands of the break right? |

In theory it helps the break.
The gap is currently at 8:40 but even if they restart after 160km of racing that shouldn't be too hard to bring back. There's still roughly 140km to go at that point.
In practice it won't. |

Would be a wonderful comeback from him. Though I'n not sure how his fitness is right now. |

Reimer, Nordhaug and Vrecer have abandoned already, clearly not liking thier chances of getting a good seat on the bus. |

Skipping dangerous part is good, but why not earlier and change the route, they should know few days before the race, that this will be the problem.

So the breakaway riders are at the buses. That looks super icy, so a good call from RCS.

Alright, this is officially too crazy. In a later tweet RSLT stated that in this picture the riders have a layer of ice on their helmets!

This is too much. These riders aren't monkeys in cages. Racing in these conditions for 300 km (well, minus the bus-kilometers), its almost inhuman! |
