I dont understand all the people thinking Moreau could do well. He was supposed to do well last year having won the Dauphine. But he wasnt even close.
He hasnt even had one decent result this season.

before falling and losing all that blood, he was attacking everyone in the mountains, so he did very well as far as I'm concerned.
And winning the Dauphiné is usually a very bad sign for the Tour.

I don't think Moreau has the stamina and recovery for a three week grand tour. It seems he always has atl east one huge off day in the mountains. That is one too many in the tour.
And another thing: It is not necessarily the most clever tactic to "attack everyone in the mountains". He is sometimes a little too aggresive on the climbs and that ends up costing him dearly |

he doesn't really do anything other than the tour any year

since when? he's like the most consistent guy. even Zubeldia has off days. Moreau is about the only guy who doesn't (injuries excluded)

Huh? his whole problem is precisely never attacking. last year for the first time in his career he attacked instead of following. which is the smart option considering the time he loses in time trials.
last year excepted, he's like Evans and Zubeldia.
Still, the chances he'll win the Tour are somewhere in the region of zero.

Ok he might be consistent in stage races, but he is consistently just behind the very best climbers. Especially if there are two or three mountain stages after eachother. You can see Moreau up front on one mountain stage and the watch him drop on the next day.

What I meant was that atacking like a madman won't help you in the long run. Some riders have a sixth sense for when to attack. Moreau hasn't, thats all.

I think Evans is the big, big favourite. As for the other favourites, Valverde is two weak in the final week, Sastre is to old and he will also lose time in the TT. As for Cunego, I think he has lost it in the high mountains, but if he takes a mountaintop stage finish in Tour de Suisse, i'll change my mind |

Moreau can't win:
1)He is French
2)His team is weak, the best they did last year was Feillu's top 10's
3)He is old
4)He is French
Look at last years results. If any of the Americans who finished (Big George, Vande Velde, Horner and Levi(Zabriskie out with Tendonitis, Fast freddy crashed and abandoned)) where french they would have been THE top frenchman and they'd probably be making twice what they do now.
Slipstream is going to do well though. Z probably won't be back, Danielson has been preparing all year, Millar is strong and there are a dozen other Tour worthy riders on that team (most of all Steve Cozza If he waxed his Moustache, shaved off the handlebar bit and wore a fez he would mistaken for French) I am still predicting a stage win for pate in the third week.

Caught some training videos of TD. Looks like he's trying to peak for TDF. I'm not predicting much, but I"d like to see him do well if he makes the squad. Route de Sud will be his try out. |

His preperation is different this year. He is doing the miserable, windy, rainy races to prepare mentally(sans Georgia and... well California was a rather miserable race turns out) I think he can top 10 if he comes into the race in good shape and doesn't get sick or injured.(knock on wood)

Love the guy as a rider, great climber, but you have to question his want. Have his distractors got to him? Seems at times he needs to be motivated. You're in the crowd, what's the concensus? What does Cozza think? |

I've never talked to Cozza about Tommy D. Mostly we just screw around. He has been spending a lot of time in Europe recently. I haven't seen him since he broke his collarbone (like pro like wannabe)

nah, Backstedt will win the overall due to his climbing. definitely. Lovkvist the green jersey, with his brilliant sprinting speed, and Ljungqvist is a shoe-in for the white jersey |

Thomas Dekker went to the Alp stages to test and see the stages, but on all 2000m mountains there was snow and the roads were shutdown He could only do the stage to Prato Nevoso
So I hope it's better weather next month... otherwise we get a tour without alps
I have a friend who's in France and Swiss right now climbing some of the mountains. He also said that there was snow at many of the mountains, some were closed, and it's raining like hell |

My my, I believe the initial police has spoken. I'll tell you what, I'll call Tommy D TD, Tommy Gun, unfullfilled hype, or whatever comes to mind when discussing him, and you can call dekker what ever you want. As far as I know, nobody has a copyright on TD, and if anybody did it would be the original TD - Tony Dorsett. Google it |
