If your team can avoid relegation this year then you will be tough to beat in the next couple of seasons.

Name: | Julien Berard | Nationality: | | Age: | 26 | Wage: | 90,000 | Specialization: | Climber |
Julien is one of our late signings and is here to help out Marquez in all the mountain stages ahead. He's an excellent climber to be around and we hope he can either catch breaks or protect Marquez as long as possible. At only 26, he's another young rider we signed this season.
@Spilak23 Thanks mate. I am glad we signed such a nice crop of talents. And we're not done yet As you pointed out, I really wanted to try and sign talents that would future in Belgian and I think I mostly did this so I am really happy that HTC Nieuwsblad will look like a national team with some international focus
@CountArach Golden words. I am really hoping that Baugnies and Marquez can pull it off and 2 or more teams to rather underachieve in the market which is mostly over. If I survive, future looks very bright. If I relegate it's not that bad too, I'd keep all my talents anyway, however kinda a one year lost I guess.
@alexkr00 I am sure we will in the future Glad you like our talents. And thanks for the nice words
As small fun fact, our team average is at the moment 25.3 and should be even lower soon. If not the rather 4 old domestiques I brought from Het Nieuwsblad, this could have been even younger team

Name: | Lachlan Morton | Nationality: | | Age: | 21 | Wage: | 420,000 | Specialization: | Stage Racer |
Our biggest talent sings with us at the end of transfer period after great battles with many teams over him. And let me tell you this – he is worth it. Lachlan is an excellent stage racer at 21, and in future years he’ll be a top winner fighting out with others for Grand Tour wins. He has a lot of time to develop at our team and we hope he’ll achieve plenty of success here. He’ll also be main support to Marquez this year and will learn his trade. We're very pleased with his transfer!

Congratz on your team. Guess we won't see you on the first ranking spot all season this year .

I think so too
Last year I led from 2nd race on till the end. This year I hope this will not happen vice versa. However if I survive or even relegate I hope this team ( at least it's talents ) is a team that wins PCT in 2/3 years.

You wont have to worry about relegation I think. Marquez + Baugnies will score you more than enough to stay safe.
I'm seriously jealous of your team. Too many top quality talents!

@Pelli I hope you're right mate Would be great to stay.
Well, I am glad you envy our talents You got some very nice riders too though
tsmoha Hmm, maybe in the distant future we might sell him to Oz ? Considering the HTC's main HQ is in Taiwan, I think they might be happy we got a great talent from Asia though
And thank you

I can only agree with the others, really nice signings, especially in talent departmnet, i hope both our teams will compete for top PCT spots in something like 3/4 years, to show that D2 material is not the bad one!
We will not meet so much in 2013, only maybe with squad around Marquez, but good luck!

Thanks and I hope so too In future I will certainly hope the team will challenge for the PT and even winning the PCT crown.
Our 2013 roster have been updated and can be seen here. Two versions, one clear and one hidden in spoiler with more information.
Interview with the manager and how he feels about the transfer season and how it went as well our chances of staying up should come in next days so stay tuned until then Thanks for following.

Hello my name is Ian Boswell. I will write a mini-blog through the season about my season with HTC Nieuwsblad, all the hardships, experiences and all the great moments involved.
HTC was interested me from the off and I signed early in the transfer window. I was wanted in this team and that was the persuasion I needed to sign my first professional contract with the team. We have a very young core in the team, and hopefully with few mentors we can all learn together and progress as riders.
What type of rider I wish to become ? It's difficult to say how will I develop throughout the years, but I hope to become a top puncheur one day. I'd love to challenge for the wins in the Ardennes Classics someday, being my favourite races and this will be the long term goal.
Below are my personal goals through the season.I am quite excited to begin the season in Australia, I am also very keen on especially .C2 races in which I hope to achieve some good results for the team. Possibly my most anticipated race of the season is Tour de l'Avenir where I hope to achieve some personal success for myself and the team.
That's it for now. I'll be back in few days to present my schedule for the year, and some pictures from our latest training camp in Spain.
Cheers.
I will mainly learn in my first season with the team. However I have few personal goals through the year to stuck in. Here are some of the more important ones through the season. Accomplishing some of them would greatly increase my confidence in myself as a rider at this point in my career, however the main goal is to develop as rider and at the end of season progress in all areas.
| 1st Professional win | | | Top 10 in one of the C2 Classics | | | Be part of at team victory | | | Be involved in at least 6 breaks through the season | | | Stage Top 10 in Tour de l'Avenir | |

This is a clever idea. Is the third goal a win on team standings or a win for a rider on your team?
Top two goals will be quite difficult this year for Ian though who knows crazier things have happened in the man game

I had a similar plan last season with Thomas Koep last season as well. But after the pre season interview with him I stopped it.
So I hope you will keep it longer. |

Miguel98 - Thanks. In a kind of way, yeah, just more random
Smowz- Thank you Win for any rider in my team. Boswell will mostly not be part of either Cobble or Mountain Team - the ones that can win from time to time with 2 big leaders there. He'll be in plenty of races with Maar or Armee who being lucky can win a stage, but mostly from breaks, hence even such win will be good.
Agreed about the two goals, I really doubt he can win a race this year, but it's a nice goal to have for any young rider 2nd goal is more achievable, but he would need to get lucky. The other 3 seems okay
roturn - I hope so too He's one of my favourite riders so that should be extra motivation as well.

HTC Nieuwsblad's are happy to present our official schedule for the 2013 season. Click here to see the schedule.
We're very happy how it looks, it's a wide variety of races, ranging from mountainous races in Venezuela to totally flat races in Belgium to hilly Italian Classics. We hope to achieve some success on all terrains.
With the schedule presented, Ian Boswell will present his personal schedule in upcoming days in his 2nd part of the blog. Stay tuned until then.

How I love these flags
We will meet us in some races, looking forward to how your young team will do. (You should change GP Sudkarnten to Austria instead of Australia though ..)

Interesting schedule. Not perhaps the mountain stage races I would have thought for Marquez, could play out well or badly.
I recall fondly my January schedule a couple of years back was Tour Down Under and Vuelta a Tachira. That said the Tachira competition was much tougher last year with Alarcon in it, will be interesting to see how the average changes makes that field this year. 12 race days is a lot to eat up.
