Team Presentation Part Three: Roster Group #1
The first group of riders are the most important riders left from Jack Wolfskin. They'll try to carry on the team's spirit from the previous seasons and help the new guys feel like home in the new team.
Robert Gesink[img-r]https://i.imgur.com/DqrZ0.png[/img-r] | Age | 27 | | Wage | 800,000 | | Role | Leader | | Rider type | Stage - racer | | Favorite race | Amestel Gold Race | | 2012 team | Jack Wolfskin |
Robert has been our team leader since 2011, which means that this will be his third year with the team. He'll continue last year strategy on not riding in any Grand Tours and focusing more on one week stage races and classics. His main goals for the season include Tour de Romandie, Deutschland Tour and Vuelta al Pais Vasco, which are our team's goals as well. He won two of those races in the past which means that he will be one of the main favorites this year as well.
Joost Posthuma[img-r]https://i.imgur.com/CgHxh.png[/img-r] | Age | 32 | | Wage | 140,000 | | Role | Leader | | Rider type | Time - trialist | | Favorite race | National Championships | | 2012 team | Jack Wolfskin |
Posthuma is the current Dutch National Champion in both the road race and the time - trial, which makes him one of the most important riders in the team. His stage win in La Vuelta last year shouldn't be forgotten either. Hopefully he'll be able to repeat at least one of his 2012 victories.
Benoit Vaugrenard[img-r]https://i.imgur.com/WXwAV.png[/img-r] | Age | 31 | | Wage | 60,000 | | Role | Domestique | | Rider type | Time - trialist | | Favorite race | Tour de France | | 2012 team | Jack Wolfskin |
Vaugrenard isn't exactly a superstar in cycling, but he's a very hard worker which makes him one of the most needed riders in the team. Also after his stage win in the 2011 Tour de France he has become one of the most popular riders among the fans. His dream is to repeat that victory some day and 2013 might be a good opportunity for that.
Laurens Ten Dam[img-r]https://i.imgur.com/pwp7P.png[/img-r] | Age | 33 | | Wage | 50,000 | | Role | Domestique | | Rider type | All - rounder | | Favorite race | Tour de France | | 2012 team | Jack Wolfskin |
At 33, Laurens Ten Dam is the oldest rider in the team, which makes him a vital part of our youngsters development. Even though he's getting old, Laurens can still be a very good domestique in any race of the Pro Tour calendar. Still, the sad news is that 2013 might be his last season with the team.
Paul Martens[img-r]https://i.imgur.com/SWjhb.png[/img-r] | Age | 28 | | Wage | 50,000 | | Role | Domestique | | Rider type | Time - trialist | | Favorite race | National Championships | | 2012 team | Jack Wolfskin |
In 2010, Paul Martens was the first rider to sign a contract with the new formed Jack Wolfskin team. And we're delighted that he will continue with the team for at least another year. He's a great domestique, who often shines at the end of the season in the National Championships. He won the German Championships in 2011 and last year he was second. Hopefully he'll get back the jersey in 2013.

Team Presentation Part Three: Roster Group #2
We've seen the big names that are staying with the team, now it's time to see who are the new names that will receive leading or co-leading roles throughout the season.
Luis Leon Sanchez Gil[img-r]https://i.imgur.com/GhvWb.png[/img-r] | Age | 30 | | Wage | 528,500 | | Role | Leader | | Rider type | Stage - racer | | Favorite race | Paris - Nice | | 2012 team | Cerne |
After one year in the continental Tour, Luis Leon is back with the big guys. He'll lead the team at the Vuelta a Espana, but will spend most of the season as a super - domestique for Robert Gesink. The good news is that they already know each other very well and collaborating won't be a problem, which means that we should see some big results from them this season.
Peter Velits[img-r]https://i.imgur.com/3ci4G.png[/img-r] | Age | 28 | | Wage | 400,000 | | Role | Leader | | Rider type | Stage - racer | | Favorite race | Tour de France | | 2012 team | Pearl Adidas |
Even though it will be a hard task for him to take onto the role Ruben Plaza had in the previous seasons, we have a lot of faith that Peter Velits is the perfect rider for our team. He already had a good season last year with Pearl Adidas, which means that he's used to racing against the strongest climbers in the world. A very important fact since this year he'll be going for both Il Giro and Le Tour.
Jelle Vanendert[img-r]https://i.imgur.com/mNVdt.png[/img-r] | Age | 28 | | Wage | 180,000 | | Role | Liutenant | | Rider type | Puncheur | | Favorite race | Fleche Wallone | | 2012 team | Team Bpost |
A very strong puncheur, Jelle Vanendert is joining 1t4i from Team Bpost. As Luis Leon Sanchez, he will spend most of the season as a domestique for Robert Gesink, but he might get a few opportunities for himself as well.
Julien Simon[img-r]https://i.imgur.com/I1SaW.png[/img-r] | Age | 28 | | Wage | 300,000 | | Role | Liutenant | | Rider type | Puncheur | | Favorite race | Tour de France | | 2012 team | ● |
2013 is really going to be a year with a hills focus for us. Julien Simon is another great puncheur that joins the team this year. He'll be a very important domestique for our leaders, but with a good sprint stat he might grab a stage win here and there if the terrain is not tough enough to make big differences.
Ramon Sinkeldam[img-r]https://i.imgur.com/w520h.png[/img-r] | Age | 24 | | Wage | 150,000 | | Role | Leader | | Rider type | Classics specialist | | Favorite race | Ronde van Vlaanderen | | 2012 team | ● |
We haven't had a true cobbler since 2010, when Niels Albert was riding for the team. But with the signing of Ramon Sinkeldam that's going to change. Ramon is the best Dutch talent on the cobbles and from 2014 he might be a serious contender at the Ronde van Vlaanderen.

Team Presentation Part Three: Roster Group #3
We've signed quite a few talented youngsters for 2013 that will become very important parts in the team's structure in the future. Now it's time to meet them.
Wesley Kreder[img-r]https://i.imgur.com/l18UV.png[/img-r] | Age | 23 | | Wage | 70,000 | | Role | Domestique | | Rider type | Sprinter | | Favorite race | Amstel Gold Race | | 2012 team | ● |
During the off-season, Michel Kreder left the team, but his cousin, Wesley was brought in. Wesley Kreder is still very young and yet to have chose a specialization. He is a very good rider on both hills and fast finishes. Only time will tell what type of rider he will be become, but one thing is clear - he's going to be a top one.
Jon Aberasturi[img-r]https://i.imgur.com/In9gY.png[/img-r] | Age | 24 | | Wage | 100,000 | | Role | Leader | | Rider type | Sprinter | | Favorite race | Vuelta a Espana | | 2012 team | ● |
Even though this will be his first year as a pro, we belive that Jon Aberasturi has what it takes to fight against the best sprinters in the world. The Basque rider will be a rider that must be followed in the future editions of the Vuelta a Espana.
Wout Poels[img-r]https://i.imgur.com/CSQrg.png[/img-r] | Age | 26 | | Wage | 66,700 | | Role | Domestique | | Rider type | Climber | | Favorite race | Tour de Romandie | | 2012 team | Jack Wolfskin |
Not a new comer, but Wout Poels is still one of the most interesting young talents in our team. For 2013, he'll continue to help our leaders on the long climbs. His dream is to someday help Robert Gesink win the Tour de France.
Rafel Majka[img-r]https://i.imgur.com/y9LgP.png[/img-r] | Age | 24 | | Wage | 70,000 | | Role | Domestique | | Rider type | Climber | | Favorite race | Giro d'Italia | | 2012 team | ● |
Staying in the climbing department, we have Rafel Majka, a talented young climber and one of the most popular riders in Poland. This year, we'll see him in Il Giro d'Italia, where he'll be making his debut in a Grand Tour.
Jonathan Castroviejo[img-r]https://i.imgur.com/Lu74p.png[/img-r] | Age | 26 | | Wage | 50,000 | | Role | Domestique | | Rider type | Puncheur | | Favorite race | Vuelta al Pais Vasco | | 2012 team | Aker |
Another talented Basque rider that has joined the team is Jonathan Castroviejo. Jonathan is a good stage racer, but he's specialization for the future are definitely going to be the hilly races, where he still has plenty of room left for improvement.

great that you'll get LLS to the Vuelta as a leader. That's what I would have done if I had retained him.
Good luck for this year. I'll be looking forward to see the Project in action

Thanks.
I think LLS can sneak into the top 10. He's not the greatest climber on the longer climbs, but this year's Vuelta has plenty of hilly stages that suit him very well.

Team Presentation Part Three: Roster Group #4
Time - trials were a big focus in the Jack Wolfskin era and even though that has changed now there are still plenty of strong time - trialists left in the team. Lets see who they are.
Koen De Kort[img-r]https://i.imgur.com/jVY7R.png[/img-r] | Age | 31 | | Wage | 75,000 | | Role | Domestique | | Rider type | Time - trialist | | Favorite race | Paris - Roubaix | | 2012 team | Jack Wolfskin |
One of the oldest riders in the team, Koen is also one of the riders that has been with the team since our very first season. He is a very good domestique, who can help our leaders in both team time - trials, cobbled classics and he's very good at chasing and bringing back breakaways.
Kristof Vandewalle[img-r]https://i.imgur.com/9bein.png[/img-r] | Age | 26 | | Wage | 55,000 | | Role | Domestique | | Rider type | Time - trialist | | Favorite race | National Championships | | 2012 team | Jack Wolfskin |
Vandewalle's history with the team is quite interesting. He rode for us in 2010, then left to sign a contract with La Gazzetta dello Sport in 2011, only to return back to the team last year. This time he didn't try to find another contract and he'll continue the great job that he has done in the previous seasons.
Sebastien Rosseler[img-r]https://i.imgur.com/ejMHW.png[/img-r] | Age | 32 | | Wage | 65,000 | | Role | Domestique | | Rider type | Time - trialist | | Favorite race | Paris - Roubaix | | 2012 team | Jack Wolfskin |
Rosseler's abilities are very similar to De Kort's so we expect to see them riding in plenty of races together. At the age of 32, this could be his last season with the team though.
Jos Van Emden[img-r]https://i.imgur.com/S69Wv.png[/img-r] | Age | 28 | | Wage | 50,000 | | Role | Domestique | | Rider type | Time - trialist | | Favorite race | Giro d'Italia | | 2012 team | Jack Wolfskin |
Jos Van Emden is another rider very good on the flat terrain. He's a very good time - trialist, but a decent sprinter as well. We might see him helping Jon Aberasturi getting in the right position for the sprints.
Andrei Nechita[img-r]https://i.imgur.com/A1ESB.png[/img-r] | Age | 25 | | Wage | 50,000 | | Role | Domestique | | Rider type | Time - trialist | | Favorite race | Giro d'Italia | | 2012 team | Focused Cycling |
Even though he signed with the team in 2011, this will be Nechita's first actual season with us. His development years in CT with Intesa and then with Focus are over now and it's finally time for him to ride with the big guys. He'll makes his GT debut in Il Giro this spring.

Team Presentation Part Three: Roster Group #5
It's now time to see how the final group of riders looks like. The wildcards.
Matteo Trentin[img-r]https://i.imgur.com/mGfr5.png[/img-r] | Age | 24 | | Wage | On Loan | | Role | Liutenant | | Rider type | All - rounder | | Favorite race | Milano - SanRemo | | 2012 team | ● |
Matteo Trentin will be spending the season with us after being loaned in from UPC. He's a very good all-rounder that can get over hills, has a nice sprint and can also ride on cobbles, which makes him a co-leader for the cobbled classics.
Johannes Frohlinger[img-r]https://i.imgur.com/87tnO.png[/img-r] | Age | 28 | | Wage | 85,000 | | Role | Domestique | | Rider type | Climber | | Favorite race | Deutschland Tour | | 2012 team | Skoda - KB |
Johannes Frohlinger is an experienced German climber. He will be a great asset for our climbing department and very a good domestique for our leaders on any type of climb.
Bas Giling[img-r]https://i.imgur.com/d9KhN.png[/img-r] | Age | 31 | | Wage | 50,000 | | Role | Domestique | | Rider type | Classics specialist | | Favorite race | Paris - Roubaix | | 2012 team | Jack Wolfskin |
Another rider that has been with the team since 2010. Even though he is getting old, Bas is still a very good domestique for the cobbled classics and for flat races. Expect him to finish another Paris - Roubaix this year.
Mohammad Saufi Mat Senan[img-r]https://i.imgur.com/3lCXt.png[/img-r] | Age | 23 | | Wage | 50,000 | | Role | Domestique | | Rider type | Climber | | Favorite race | Tour de France | | 2012 team | ● |
Quite an exotic signing, but Mohammad is a very good young climber, which is going to be a very important domestique for our big guns in the future. His dreams is to ride the Tour de France and that means that we might see a Malaysian rider at the Grande Boucle.
Markus Fahnert[img-r]https://i.imgur.com/RWSd3.png[/img-r] | Age | 25 | | Wage | On Loan | | Role | Domestique | | Rider type | Puncheur | | Favorite race | Rund um Koln | | 2012 team | Team Trilux - Falke |
Fahnert is another rider on loan. He is a nice puncheur, but with so many other great puncheurs in the team it will hard for him to ride in the big races. Still the experience that he'll gather with team will prove to be very important when he will return to Sram - Riboxx next year.
And that wraps things up. We hope you enjoyed our presentation.

I think it's a smart move keeping Gesink off the GTs. He's certainly capable of winning each of the three but putting him 4 stage races instead of a single one is smart way of playing it safe. Specially since Velits could likely be a top-10 at the Giro and potentially achieve the same goal in the TdF.
All in all, I think your team will likely by up there in the standings. A podium is not unlikely when you have this kind of depth and top skill.

Thanks.
I don't expect to finish too high in the team rankings. This is year I just want to achieve all goals, after last year's disaster where I missed 4 goals. So a top 10 in the standings will do.

You'll see Trentin in the Giro for sure. Also, it's very likely that he will ride all 5 Monuments as well.

Maybe I can help you max out some of your Dutch talents in the following seasons. That, if you don't want to sell them to me
And at this point I'm like 70% sure how Kreder's stats will look like once he's maxed out.

Well Goos, Lijke or Serry would rather probably love to have a spell at your team next season indeed
I am 50% about Lijke's...still

Planning the new season: Loaned riders
The start of the 2013 season isn't far away and this means that it's time to decide our racing plans for this year's races. A few hints about these plans have been made during the team's presentation, but no official lists have been revealed yet. Now it's time to see which races our two loaned riders will ride.
Matteo Trentin will ride in a lot of big races this year, including Il Giro and Milano - SanRemo, having a leading role in the last one as well as in other races throughout the season. Fahnert won't ride as many races as Trentin, but he will be a very good asset for our team leaders in all of the races that he's start.

Heading to China
The 2013 season is about to kick-off and 8 of the Project 1t4i riders have already landed in China for the much anticipated Badaling International. The race is back in the Pro Tour calendar after a year of absence.
The main question regarding the race is either if it's going to be a sprint between the strongest riders (like in 2011 when Jack Wolfskin's Ruben Plaza finished in the 8th place) or someone will be able to take the race on his own.
Project 1t4i's big star, Robert Gesink won't be riding, but Luis Leon Sanchez will be there to supply for his absence. And with the support of Vanendert and Julien Simon, a top 10 should be a realistic goal for the team.

The season starts with a top 10
The first race of the season was a tricky one as most riders are still trying to get used to their new teams. And that was Project 1t4i's case as well as from the 8 riders that started the race, only Ten Dam is not a new comer.
Still, in the end the big guns managed to take a hold of the race and we saw the Man-Game legend, Damiano Cunego grab his first win for Lotto - Cervelo.
Sadly, none of the Project 1t4i riders were in the first group, but Luis Leon Sanchez managed to win the pack's sprint to take a very valuable ninth place. Other good performances were achieved by: Vanendert (15th), Simon (22nd), Sinkeldam (30th).

Preparing for a sandy week in Qatar
With the first one day race of the season behind us, it's now time to focus on the first stage race of 2013. Traditionally, that will be the Tour of Qatar, a race designed for sprinters. It will be a very interesting battle between last year's winner, Ben Swift, and Daniele Bennati, who's back in the PT after an absence of one year.
Project 1t4i won't start the race with too many expectations as our leader, Jon Aberasturi, is still far from matching the big guns' speed. The multiple Dutch champion, Joost Posthuma is there and he will be targeting the last stage of the race, a 3.5 km individual time - trial.
A fun fact about this year's race is that 4 Project 1t4i will make their debuts as a pro: Jon Aberasturi, Wesley Kreder, Matteo Trentin and Andrei Nechita.
