Don't really see anything of interest in that either, it's just the usual generic fluff. I think they're probably right about Sky having some of the best facilities to develop as well, even if the team depth could end up playing against them in the short-term. |

From Cyclingnews forum:
"Start list for GP Vino:
Vino
Vincenzo Nibali
Philippe Gilbert
Jérôme Gilbert
Chris Froome
Joaquim Rodriguez
Roman Kreuziger
Maxim Iglinsky
Jan Ullrich
Richard Virenque
Eddy Merckx
..."
Now THAT is what I call a farewell!

Don't know if it's been mentioned but De Waele (Landbouwkrediet) will ride his final race on Monday. |

In the end, I think Vaughters nailed the reason everyone wants to move to Sky. This was his reply to a question about Porte and Rogers:
In a matter of payroll, I can tell you that I doubt I have anyone that gets paid what either of these boys do.
This about a guy who came from a bad season and a guy who came from several. And they're domestiques.
Now imagine what Sky is paying the team leaders and the ones who were on high demand such as Hagen, etc.

There is one issue with that though. The rumors that have come out in the last year or two have pointed to massive budgets for three teams, Sky, BMC, and Katusha, and at least from the quotes I've heard, Sky hasn't been differentiated from those two.
Now I realize you can argue that BMC has done as well if not better than Sky at signing riders these last two years after the initial start of the project (Hushovd, Gilbert, TJ, various others), and that Katusha is probably hurt by the whole Russian thing (expected to develop Russian riders and talent, Eastern European basing, etc), but they don't seem to get the same stick as Sky does for the money. Unless it's people being unreasonable (normally highly likely, but it does seem a lot to be coming from some usually reasonable commentators), it seems as though there is something about Sky that really ticks people off, and whether it's just the money or something else, I don't know. |

I think there are three reasons why Sky is the most irritating.
1) They are winning everything, I don't mind teams who spend lots of money, if it doesn't make them any better.
2) The commentators most people listen to love Sky, and hence, if you are not supporting Sky, you start hoping Sky lose.
3) Sky keeps telling everyone how they are winning by revolutionising cycling, being much smarter than everyone, etc. Being constantly told that the riders you support on other teams would be better if they just tried as hard as the Sky riders is annoying.

Most likely it's not just annoying, it's also plain wrong. Or cover up for something else. |

I don't really hate Sky. They've made an incredible cycling team and it's amazing they were able to do this. However, I don't like it when they dominate (mountain) stages like they do, makes it very boring. |

Sad to see him go but it is time. His attack up the Cauberg in Amstel '10 was great just to hear how surprised everyone was by it.

Hey, the purpose of this forum isn't just to post links to every article that pops up on cyclingnews. Practically all of us spend a lot of time around the web reading the latest on stuff. The point of the forum is that someone posts big news when it happens (partly to make the forum a one stop shopping location, and also partly to allow non-English language news to travel around), mainly so that a conversation can come out of it. Posting a headline and a link about a Lemond interview doesn't do that.
Not trying to come down hard or anything, you certainly aren't breaking any rules, but it's all the posts I've seen from you in here, and I'm wondering if you're missing the point. The Lemond story is certainly of interest, but you'd be much better off summarizing what he says to try and kick off a conversation than just posting a link. |

Europcar won't apply for WT status for financial reasons.
https://www.cyclingnews.com/news/team-...our-status
That means Argos-Shimano is the only PCT team eligible for a license.

Oh no
But maybe it's not that bad, they'll get wildcards for most races, anyway, I guess |

If you read the article, that's Bernadeau's point. In fact, the article reads as though Bernadeau doesn't even want a license. He wants to race the races he wants too (tautology time!), and he's confident with Voeckler and Rolland he will, without being forced to field teams at, say, Poland. |

What so funny? Sure Pologne is technically more correct, but there is no reason I can't use the English version... |
