After the rest day we should see another sprint finish. But don't underestimate the small mountain at the end of the stage!

imageshack.us/a/img203/6646/pic735.jpg

A group of five riders escaped from the bunch and gained an advantage of over 7 minutes.

imageshack.us/a/img16/3516/pic736.jpg

TET and some other teams worked togehter and reduced the gap drastically.

imageshack.us/a/img694/6651/pic737.jpg

The escape group got caught, but now the peleton has to climb this steep slope.

imageshack.us/a/img59/7100/pic738.jpg

Reimann and Steigmiller survived it without any problem, but Arndt (yellow jersey) couldn't compete at the front and dropped nearly.

imageshack.us/a/img18/3193/pic739.jpg

But with an incredible effort he rode to the front and the backwheel of Reimann (green jersey).

imageshack.us/a/img833/4258/pic741.jpg

Apperently the short climb was too much for Arndt, so he couldn't deliver his A-Game, but finished on the podium, though.

Second stagewin by Nikias Arndt! After Reimann did an excellent job in leading him perfectly out, Arndt had completely free way to the victory and won this stage by absolute domination. He also extended his lead in the yellow, green and white jersey classification. Well done.

imageshack.us/a/img155/7834/pic742.jpg

Hard stage for my guys. The steadily uphill going road in the end made it tough to control the race without dropping my winning aspirants. However, to close the gap we had to set a very high pace which cost Arndt in the final sprint maybe some percentage points. Finally he finished 2nd in the downhill mass-sprint which was great, though.

Stage 6

imageshack.us/a/img109/8180/pic714.jpg
imageshack.us/a/img401/6923/pic743.jpg

Most important stage of the whole tour and a big test for my team. From the beginning I tried to control the race and to keep the gaps in reach. The flat-riders did the work and even the yellow jersey himself wasn't reprieved from working in the relay. Till the last climb we hold everything together, then some hard attacks were settled by the opponents. Reimann tried to follow with Steigmiller on his backwheel and when it came to the final meters Steigmiller was up front, but couldn't win the stage. Even I thought he finished with the first group, the game apperently recognized a small gap of 19 seconds.
In the end bad news for our team! After days of dominating the race and leading almost every classification we lost nearly everything on that day...

Stage 7

imageshack.us/a/img69/7276/pic715.jpg

Even it was a successful tour till now, I didn't wanted to fly home without a podium-position in the general classification. So, I made a plan how to gain a few seconds. The stage was with just 100km very short. From the start our whole team besides Arndt and Reimann set a very high pace to make the race difficult. With 6km to go I started with Steigmiller an attack and Reimann on his backwheel. After Steigmiller exploded, I attacked with Reimann again and gained seconds after seconds. The other teams were chasing after him, but Reimann is the perfect guy to do something like that and with just 36 seconds behin the yellow jersey we could really make a difference today. The finish line came closer and closer... Yeah! Reimann won that stage, but how much time he gained???

Yes! The small cobble-sections didn't effect the results, at least not at my team. Some good riders crashed at the last cobble-section, though. Westra attacked some Kilometers before the finish and I was very glad to catch him a few meters before the line. Reimann did an excellent job pacing for Arndt and even finished in the Top 10. With the bonus-seconds Arndt was 2nd Place in the general classification, 4'' behind Westra.

As there were more and longer cobble-sections the race was a lot more difficult than the stage before. Halfway trough the stage the peleton split up into many large groups. Fortunetaly Reimann and Arndt were still at the first group containing 22 riders and Westra as well. A few km before the finish an Europcar rider attacked and nobody could pace him back. When the sprint started Arndt and Reimann were been already at their limit, this is why both lost a few seconds and some places in the general classification. But no reason to be in the doldrums, though.
