Stage 2 Criterium International
With a 7.9km time trial, Agostinho should feel well. Tomorrow is the decisions day, will today be a day to make any diferences?
And Agostinho takes 5 seconds to previous best time, by his team mate Kiryienka. Meanwhile, Plaza is also going pretty fast. Just 2 seconds slower than Agostinho on intermediate.
Samuel Sanchez beats Agostinho's time by just 3 seconds! He should be the favourite to win this years Criterium International.
Agostinho was just 3 seconds away from his first professional win, but he's wearing white tomorrow!

Another day with 3 fronts to Movistar.
Gent-Wevelgem
Boonen took the win, and again Movistar doesn't managed to do anything on a cobble classic. Erviti was the best in 45th place. Another 2 major injuries: Sagan is out until April and Nuyens will be out of the bike until June.

Stage 3 Critérium International
The profile of today's stage is quite progressive, climbing all day. Samuel Sanchez is in good position and he's favourite to take the win. Movistar has some riders that can make the top ten. French men, Pinot, Vockler and Rolland might be the threats.
As we enter the last climb surprisingly the yellow jersey is still there. Duarte has a slight advantage to the 62 men peloton.
With 3km to go 6 men are in front: Nieve and Sanchez, Atapuma, Pinot, Kiryienka and Agostinho.
And Samuel Sanchez wins. Pinot, 2nd. 3rd place for Atapuma and Agostinho is 4th.

So as we entered April, Movistar will have a lot of races to dispute. Gran Premio Miguel Indurain, Ronde Van Vlaanderen and the beginnig of the Vuelta Ciclista al Pais Basco. Preparing for the hilly classics of April, building for Giro are prior to any results now. In cobbles, the team doesn't have anyone who can even make a top 20. Something to think about next season's squad list.
Gran Premio Miguel Indurain
Valverde made a top 10 result.
Race Results:
1 Daniel Moreno Katusha Team 4h15'45
2 Romain Sicard Euskaltel - Euskadi s.t.
3 Eduard Vorganov Katusha Team + 11
4 Cyril Lemoine Saur - Sojasun s.t.
5 Simon Spilak Katusha Team s.t.
6 Gorka Verdugo Euskaltel - Euskadi s.t.
7 Vladimir Gusev Katusha Team s.t.
8 Alejandro Valverde Movistar Team + 22
9 Juan José Oroz Euskaltel - Euskadi s.t.
10 Peter Stetina Garmin - Sharp s.t.
Ronde Van Vlaanderen
Boonen got to the end win Cancellara and beated him on final sprint. Maybe from this top 10 will come the man Movistar wants to get something out of the cobbles classics. Cancellara, Hushovd, Flecha, Boom, Vanmarcke, Phinney are all on the end of their contract, although all quite expensive. Ballan, Pozzato, Nuyens are also on the end of their contracts. (i would appreciate a suggestion, if anyone reads this).
Race Results
1 Tom Boonen Omega Pharma - Quick·Step Cycling Team 5h57'34
2 Fabian Cancellara RadioShack - Nissan s.t.
3 Thor Hushovd BMC Racing Team + 46
4 Juan Antonio Flecha Sky Procycling s.t.
5 Lars Boom Rabobank Cycling Team + 1'12
6 Niki Terpstra Omega Pharma - Quick·Step Cycling Team s.t.
7 Edvald Boasson Hagen Sky Procycling + 1'40
8 Sep Vanmarcke Garmin - Sharp s.t.
9 Taylor Phinney BMC Racing Team s.t.
10 Sebastian Langeveld Orica - GreenEdge s.t.
41 Imanol Erviti Movistar Team + 2'54
Vuelta Ciclista al Pais Basco
Being a sponsors goal (top 5), Movistar took Cobo and Intxausti for this one week tour. It started quite slow for Movistar, and Intxausti lost more than 20 minutes. The team leader for the Giro is now starting his preparation and had lots of problems today.
Samuel Sanchez brought his good form and moral from Criterium International and he's now the leader. Andy Schleck is also looking good for the classics and the GC in here.
Stage 1 Results
1 Samuel Sánchez Euskaltel - Euskadi 3h32'32
2 Michel Kreder Garmin - Sharp + 24
3 Tony Martin Omega Pharma - Quick·Step Cycling Team s.t.
4 Jelle Vanendert Lotto Belisol Team s.t.
5 Andreas Klöden RadioShack - Nissan s.t.
6 Andy Schleck RadioShack - Nissan s.t.
7 Xavier Florencio Katusha Team + 58
8 Simon Gerrans Orica - GreenEdge s.t.
9 Michael Albasini Orica - GreenEdge s.t.
10 Maxime Monfort RadioShack - Nissan s.t.
31 Ángel Madrazo Movistar Team + 2'13
48 Juan José Cobo Movistar Team + 3'14
159 Beñat Intxausti Movistar Team + 20'40
Agostinho has renewed his contract and has now some days before travelling to a training camp in Germany. He's going to Vuelta Asturias and should have the chance to race on, at least, one of the three big April classics. |

Vanmarcke, Boom, Terpstra, Breschel, Phinney, Thomas. I find these to be pretty good cobblers. And fairly young still. But maybe you want an 80+ cobbler, than you don't have too much options. |

Vuelta Ciclista al Pais Basco
After a stage 2 where Jimmy Casper beated Koldo Fernandez and Gert Steegmans on a massive sprint, stage 3 should take out any doubts about the capacity of Movistar to reach the sponsor's goal of 5th place.
So Madrazo was the only one to manage to follow the best and ended up in 8th place. Cobo lost another 1'18 and he's now 3'19 from fifth place. Intxausti did much better today.

The next two sponsors goals are hard: Top 5 in Liege-Bastogne-Liege and Top 10 in Giro D'Italia. |

Paris-Roubaix
La Pascale is known for being hard as hell, but Movistar's day in the north of France, was really horrible. Together with a best-team-place behind the top 50 (Rojas in 53th place), Movistar lost both Konovalovas and Madrazo. The first was almost sure on Giro's line up, so it will provoke changes.
On the road, again Boonen got the best of Cancellara (as well as Hushovd) and he managed the triplet: Gent-Wevelgem, RVV and Paris Roubaix!
Race Results

Meanwhile, on a much better terrain for Movistar the team managed two top 10 places, showing Intxausti rising of form.

Amstel Gold Race
After Milan San Remo, Agostinho is back on a classic to help the team leaders. A rainy day at the start.
With 90km to go Gilbert's BMC is leading the peloton and chaising a 6 men break that has 5'22. Movistar is protecting it's leaders. And Katusha soon will join BMC.
With 30km to go and as Katusha's work paid work, there are attacks! Gilbert, Gasparoto, Nocentini and Voeckler try to go out. Movistar puts Lastras and Agostinho answering.
And it seems Movistar's efforts have paid off, as the peloton is back together, with only 87 riders now. More attacks to come, for sure.
With 10km to go, Rodriguez has a slight advantage to Albasini and right back is Gilbert group with Valverde, Rui Costa and 16 other favourites.
With 2km to go Valverde gets on Gilbert's whell. Boonen is right there. In front Rodriguez, Albasini, Samuel Sanchez and Cancellara.
And Cancellara takes the win! Losing RVV and PR to Boonen, he came in great shape and beated Samuel Sanchez. Valverde passed Gilbert, Albasini and Rodriguez but didn't get to the first two. Rui Costa is 9th! And Agostinho arrived with Cobo and Lastras. He sure did his job!
