Yes, it was a quiet race in Marseille, but it was another brilliant win in Argentina. |

Yeah, very quiet race I did bring a bit of a weaker squad (Frenchies got to ride in France ) but I still think we did alright
And exactly, it was about time we let someone else win something anyway.

January didn't have a lot of racing, but the few races it did have, were very exciting! We also saw a recurring theme within some of the bigger races, as Caisse could very well say they dominated the month! They won the two big Stage Races, and were able to get a stage win at the TDU as well.

We can be very happy with our results this month! We did well at the Tour Down Under and took a fabulous win on the final day, when we thought the odds were against us, and then the way LuLu rode at the Tour de San Luis, dominating the Time Trial and then holding off the others, even the breakaway, to get the overall victory there. I dont think you could ask for a better start to the year! We didn't do as well as we wanted in Marseillaise but we cant win them all.

@ sutty: Indeed
@ Mre: I hope so too!
@ Alakagom: Thank you I hope so as well. Caisse must win the PT ranking
@ Freitas: I am sure there is atleast one "o" in his name in the game, must be a typo.
Vuelta a Mallorca
Stage 1
Oscar Freire gets the win on stage 1, as it comes down to a sprint and he proves that he is the fastest!
1 | Óscar Freire | Katusha Team | 2h34'36 | 2 | Aitor Galdos | Caja Rural | s.t. | 3 | Mark Cavendish | Sky Pro Cycling | s.t. | 4 | Samuel Dumoulin | Cofidis, le Crédit en Ligne | s.t. | 5 | Koldo Fernández | Team Garmin - Sharp | s.t. |
Stage 2
Stage 2 sees a break form quite late in the day, only 70km left, and it involves a Caisse rider, Rafael Valls as well as Europcar rider, David Veilleux!
The break still couldn't manage to stay clear though, and in the mass sprint Matt Goss crosses the line first!
1 | Matthew Goss | Orica - GreenEDGE | 3h53'39 | 2 | Francisco Ventoso | Team Geox | s.t. | 3 | Mark Cavendish | Sky Pro Cycling | s.t. | 4 | Aitor Galdos | Caja Rural | s.t. | 5 | André Greipel | Lotto - Belisol | s.t. |
Stage 3
The attacks came on the hill 20km out from the line, and Kiserlovski was able to gain a gap of almost a minute. The group of leaders were chasing though, and brought his gap down to 20 seconds, although Kiserlovski still wins the stage!
1 | Robert Kiserlovski | Astana Pro Team | 4h00'33 | 2 | Daniele Pietropolli | Lampre - ISD | + 21 | 3 | José Serpa | Androni Giocattoli - Venezuela | s.t. | 4 | Mikel Nieve | Euskaltel - Euskadi | s.t. | 5 | Daniel Moreno | Katusha Team | s.t. | 6 | David López | Caisse d'Epargne | s.t. | 7 | JoaquÃm RodrÃguez | Caisse d'Epargne | s.t. |
Stage 4 (Final)
Now on the final stage we see some large gaps. Purito obviously isn;t in form but we see some other big name riders doing well on the climbs. Navarro takes the stage after dominating the race, almost breaking clear of the rest, but probably making his huge effort too close to the line! Purito does still secure a Top 5, so we can come away from this race happy!
1 | Daniel Navarro | Team Saxo Bank - Tinkoff Bank | 4h15'59 | 2 | Daniele Pietropolli | Lampre - ISD | s.t. | 3 | Daniel Moreno | Katusha Team | s.t. | 4 | Wout Poels | Vacansoleil - DCM Pro Cycling Team | s.t. | 5 | Bradley Wiggins | Sky Pro Cycling | s.t. |
Overall:
1 | Daniele Pietropolli | Lampre - ISD | 14h44'56 | 2 | Daniel Navarro | Team Saxo Bank - Tinkoff Bank | + 2 | 3 | Daniel Moreno | Katusha Team | + 8 | 4 | Mikel Nieve | Euskaltel - Euskadi | + 12 | 5 | JoaquÃm RodrÃguez | Caisse d'Epargne | s.t. | 6 | Bradley Wiggins | Sky Pro Cycling | s.t. | 7 | Michael Albasini | Orica - GreenEDGE | s.t. | 8 | Kevin Seeldraeyers | Astana Pro Team | s.t. | 9 | José Serpa | Androni Giocattoli - Venezuela | + 1'40 | 10 | Bauke Mollema | Rabobank Cycling Team | + 1'44 |

I applaud the team choice Now get Alejandro that long-awaited Tour win!
Just out of curiosity; whose 2009 jerseys for PCM12 are you using? The '07 jerseys were better in my opinion.

I am using this one, I believe.
I would use your 07 version, but I prefer the 09 one, because of the red. I find the "white lines" too thin on the jersey I am using currently, but its the only 09 version I could find thats made for PCM12. I am using your accessories and the Spain Champions jersey though. I may switch to the 07 version for next season.
And I will try my best to get him the Tour win It will no doubt be a fun challenge.

It was a quiet race for the team in Mallorca, but they still managed to come up with fifth place, so well done |

Actually, the guy's name is Shane Archbold, there's no 'o' or 'i' around there.
A good performance in Mallorca, decent top-5 finishing. |

@ Sutty: It was, but as you say, quietly getting Top 5's is still pretty nice
@ Freitas: I had decided to google him as well last night, and found the same thing, so I was the one making the mistake Thanks
@ Godslayer: Thank you!
Note to all!
I am testing out a bunch of ways to compress the short CT tours into one report, so they will look slightly different from the past few and the next few upcoming, because I want to get to the most important races.

Tour of Oman
Caisse are back after a short time without any important races. Recently at the Tour de Mediteraneen, Ignatas Konovalovas won the final stage in a breakaway, a great achievement for the team to keep this string of success going.
The race takes place in Oman, obviously and it is quickly becoming an early season race for the climbers, with Green Mountain being quite the exciting climb on stage 5, part of the reason we will see Henao, Rogers, Menchov, Mollema and many more for the race this year.
We have brought a fairly strong squad for the race, as we have two distinct mini-squads, within the team. A team to support Rojas, in Petit, Gutierrez and Erviti, and then Intxausti, Arroyo and Amador all possibilities in the mountains depending on form.
Allan Davis crosses the line in 1st to top off a great day for GreenEDGE.
Stage 1 was won in a sprint by Allan Davis of GreenEDGE. He went very quickly in the final meters to grab the win, and after that, the Australian ProTour team will be happy leaving this race, knowing they won a stage! Earlier in the stage, Amador looked to get into the break, but he was deemed to be too dangerous to be let free, and the other riders went on without him and were caught anyways.
Rojas gets Caisse a win, after a perfectly timed sprint!
In the lead-up to the sprint, once again Caisse were looking to get a rider in the break, this time Erviti, however the break was brought back in favour of the sprinters, as their are quite a few top sprinters in the race. That seemed to work out fine though, as we later found out, due to the ease at which Caisse were able to transition strategies. Freire nearly surprised Rojas from his blindspot, but the line didn't come soon enough for the veteran.
Renshaw pushing his largest gear as he speeds to the line.
Today was a very straight forward day, where no break seemed to want to form, although there was a 2 man lead group with a 1 min gap during the middle 1/3 iof the race. Rojas was not able to position himself well in the sprint so he had to come from a long way to salvage his 5th place, but the day went to Renshaw who outsprinted the others.
Gutierrez making a late move to bridge up to Flecha.
Well stage 4 had action crammed into the final 20kms and there were several attacks, but none stuck until Flecha made a move with 6km to go, so Gutierrez followed, and also got a good gap back to the peloton. It looked good for Flecha who had about 10 seconds on Gutierrez and about 30 on the peloton, but the finish ramps up, and he clearly reduced his pace. The sprinters began their dash for the line, and would eventually pass Flecha in the final 200m. Davis got the stage win, in a typical sprint finish, apart from that late move by Flecha. Rojas finished 6th to continue his consistent riding.
Mollema climbs Green Mtn as rivals drop like flies behind him!
The penultimate stage in this years tour and its all going to go down to the climb. There were moves made before the climb by Rogers and Amador tried to follow. Intxausti was our man for the climb, but he was clearly in poor form or having a bad day, as Gilbert was outclimbing him. Mollema soon established himself a good gap, and the rest of the favourites just tried to limit losses and go for a Top 5 result, but Mollema dominated the day!
Time lost on the climb:
1 | Bauke Mollema | Rabobank Cycling Team | 4h09'05 | 2 | Daniel Moreno | Katusha Team | + 24 | 3 | Michael Albasini | Orica - GreenEDGE | + 57 | 4 | Eros Capecchi | Liquigas - Cannondale | + 1'09 | 5 | Sergio Henao | Sky Pro Cycling | s.t. | 6 | Philippe Gilbert | BMC Racing Team | + 2'01 | 7 | Giovanny Baez | EPM - UNE | + 2'14 | 8 | Beñat Intxausti | Caisse d'Epargne | + 2'51 |
Echelons split the field and form two distinct groups on the road!
So going into the final stage, all Mollema has to do is stay in the front, but no one could expect the Echelons to be this important! A major group of 45 riders including all of the Caisse riders, and Mollema become the lead group, while a lot of race favourites get caught in the 2nd group on the road, like Rogers, Henao, Gilbert and Froome. The gap quickly becomes minutes and as we reach the circuit the race is pretty much over, as the gap is over 10 minutes.
The main group even laps the 2nd group, solidifying the day being over for them. This will be huge for Intxausti who should move up in the GC! The sprint in the front group is won by Galimzyanov, which will be a disappointment to Rojas who had a full leadout and looked the strongest sprinter in the front group, but still a nice finish to the race, exciting too!
1 | Bauke Mollema | Rabobank Cycling Team | 20h57'15 | 2 | Daniel Moreno | Katusha Team | + 22 | 3 | Michael Albasini | Orica - GreenEDGE | + 1'03 | 4 | Beñat Intxausti | Caisse d'Epargne | + 3'01 | 5 | Allan Davis | Orica - GreenEDGE | + 3'06 | 6 | José JoaquÃn Rojas | Caisse d'Epargne | + 3'18 | 7 | Giovanny Baez | EPM - UNE | + 3'30 | 8 | Geraint Thomas | Sky Pro Cycling | + 3'32 | 9 | Simon Spilak | Katusha Team | s.t. | 10 | Alessandro Ballan | BMC Racing Team | s.t. |
Points:
1 | Allan Davis | Orica - GreenEDGE | 20 | 90 | 2 | Mark Renshaw | Rabobank Cycling Team | 0 | 81 | 3 | José JoaquÃn Rojas | Caisse d'Epargne | 16 | 75 |

Thanks guys. Indeed a much better result than I thought it would be going into the final day. The echelons weren't even my doing, I just noticed all my riders were in "E3" instead of P so I scrolled back from the break and saw we had made a large gap already. Then I put the pressure on with 3 of my guys, to keep the gap growing and it worked.

Boonen and Cancellara take Early Season Classics
February we finally see a lot more racing for cycling fans to be excited about, and many races with significant meaning. The two Middle-East races, in Oman and Qatar are always tightly contested and this year Tyler Farrar was able to win the Tour of Qatar thanks to Garmins strong Team Time Trial! Mollema attacked on the Queen Stage in Oman, and won the overall fairly comfortably!
In the classics, which some consider the real start to the season, Tom Boonen was able to take Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, after he went in a 3 man group to the line along with Flecha and Ballan, but was able to outsprint them for the win, while Cancellara took a great solo win in KBK to cap off the two classics, both won by current masters of the cobbles.
