Aww, could have got a podium place, if Wynants didn't broke away..
But nice written, not a lot of fails.
But I'm not sure, isn't it called "wheeled" and not "reeled", or is it just me?
Keep it up! |

wheeled in would be something for Sagan, when he'd reel in someone during a wheelie |

Santos Tour Down Under Stage 3
Unfortunately our photograph had a bad stomach in the morning and he could only join us at the middle of the day, but here are the intermediate results.
KOM sprint
Spoiler 1. Rosseler
2. Erviti
3. Perez
4. Posthuma
5. Txurukka

2. Posthuma
3. Perez
2nd intermediate sprint

3. Posthuma
While the break was fighting for the points, Vacansoleil dictated a high pace in the peleton. Van Hummel was obviously feeling good.
At 20kms the break was reeled in and Vacansoleil and SpiderTech formed trains.
At 4kms somehow our train got blocked, and Steve Moore couldn't bring us out of trouble! It's up to Gömböcz and Clemson to bring Bahr back!
Finally we get to the front, but Bahr simply doesn't have the energy do make his jump! What a shame! At the 1km mark Pietropolli is in the lead ahead of the fading Clemson and Bahr.
And Tony Gallopin takes it! What a powerful sprint from the Frenchman! His burst of speed was unbelieveably big! L.S. Haedo came 2nd and Matthews was 3rd. Bahr unfortunately couldn't came close and had to settle with a 7th.

Santos Tour Down Under Stage 4
The flattest stage in this years edition, let's see what Bahr can do!
Today's BotD contained some real big names like Zabriskie, Muravyev or Bouhanni. Muravyev took all KOM points and will wore the spotty jersey tomorrow.
In the peloton Greenedge and Vacansoleil took the responsibility to chase, but the break had a very big gap. When the break with 20kms still wasn't caught, we started to worry a bit.
Here is the situation with 10 kilometres to go. Muravyev is in the peleton, and the others are trying hard to get back. Meanwhile in the peleton, our train sets an incredibly high pace, and tries to bring the attackers back and let Bahr do his thing. Can we pull it back?
And Muravyev is still in the front, but the peleton is coming really fast! Can he stay away from the pack?
No, he can't, because SpiderTech's Christian Bahr wins it! What a fantastic finish, by the dane! He was really powerful, and just barely managed to win against Lloyd Mondory. Muravyev comes 5th after a heroic effort, but at least he gets the KOM jersey!
1 | Christian Bahr | SpiderTech - Cervélo | 3h14'08 | 2 | Lloyd Mondory | AG2R La Mondiale | s.t. | 3 | Robert Hunter | Garmin - Sharp | s.t. | 4 | Kenny Van Hummel | Vacansoleil - DCM Pro Cycling Team | s.t. | 5 | Dimitriy Muravyev | Astana Pro Team | s.t. | 6 | Lucas Sebastián Haedo | Team Saxo Bank - Tinkoff Bank | s.t. | 7 | Kristof Goddaert | AG2R La Mondiale | s.t. | 8 | Jonas Aaen Jørgensen | Team Saxo Bank - Tinkoff Bank | s.t. | 9 | Assan Bazayev | Astana Pro Team | s.t. | 10 | Baden Cooke | Orica - GreenEdge | s.t. |
Bahr takes over the lead through bonification seconds. Can he hold onto his jersey on the Willunga?
1 | Christian Bahr | SpiderTech - Cervélo | 13h41'56 | 2 | Lloyd Mondory | AG2R La Mondiale | + 8 | 3 | Lucas Sebastián Haedo | Team Saxo Bank - Tinkoff Bank | s.t. | 4 | Daniele Pietropolli | Lampre - ISD | s.t. | 5 | Assan Bazayev | Astana Pro Team | + 14 | 6 | John Clemson | SpiderTech - Cervélo | s.t. | 7 | Ángel Vicioso | Katusha Team | s.t. | 8 | Baden Cooke | Orica - GreenEdge | s.t. | 9 | Anthony Roux | FDJ - BigMat | s.t. | 10 | Giovanni Visconti | Movistar Team | s.t. |
1 | Sébastien Rosseler | Garmin - Sharp | | 18 | 2 | Christian Bahr | SpiderTech - Cervélo | | 12 | 3 | Christopher Sutton | Sky Procycling | | 12 | 4 | Robert Hunter | Garmin - Sharp | | 12 | 5 | Nacer Bouhanni | FDJ - BigMat | | 10 |
1 | Dimitriy Muravyev | Astana Pro Team | | 32 | 2 | Sébastien Rosseler | Garmin - Sharp | | 22 | 3 | David Zabriskie | Garmin - Sharp | | 20 | 4 | Christopher Sutton | Sky Procycling | | 16 | 5 | Matthew Hayman | Sky Procycling | | 16 |
What a fantastic win! Bahr was really strong, but he can thank to his leadout the succes, as they put him into perfect position.
Moore - 1
Clemson - 1
Bahr - 1 |

Santos Tour Down Under Stage 5
Here is the long awaited Willunga Hill, which will most likely decide the GC. Our aim is to keep Bahr's jersey.
Bahr is clearly enjoying his jersey, and he'll try his best to keep it. Because of some technical issues we couldn't make pictures of the BotD, but it was a pretty strong one, including Cooke and Matthews.
Here is a picture, that we from the organisers became, us leading the peleton. From now on, we could only work with the official photos. But I can tell you, that BotD was really hard to catch and we couldn't catch them without the help of other teams.
Here is another one with 1kms to go the break is still in the lead and Matthews leads the way, but the peleton is closing in. Can he hold onto it?
Yes, he can! He pulls off a very big effort to win the stage, and even has a time gap! However he had some losses during the early days, so he is not a contender for the GC. Vandenbergh comes 3nd and Pietroplli is 3rd. The best spider is Gömböcz, coming in 6th. Bahr and Clemson lose 40 secs so their GC hopes are unfortunately over.
1 | Michael Matthews | Rabobank Cycling Team | 3h40'20 | 2 | Stijn Vandenbergh | Omega Pharma - Quick·Step Cycling Team | + 10 | 3 | Daniele Pietropolli | Lampre - ISD | s.t. | 4 | Adam Hansen | Lotto Belisol Team | s.t. | 5 | Jérôme Pineau | Omega Pharma - Quick·Step Cycling Team | s.t. | 6 | Máté Gömböcz | SpiderTech - Cervélo | s.t. | 7 | Giovanni Visconti | Movistar Team | s.t. | 8 | Javier Iriarte | Movistar Team | s.t. | 9 | Alexandr Kolobnev | Katusha Team | s.t. | 10 | George Hincapie | BMC Racing Team | s.t. | 11 | Joost Posthuma | RadioShack - Nissan | s.t. | 12 | Baden Cooke | Orica - GreenEdge | s.t. | 13 | Steve Moore | SpiderTech - Cervélo | + 40 | 14 | Maarten Wynants | Rabobank Cycling Team | s.t. | 15 | Ángel Vicioso | Katusha Team | s.t. | 16 | Jeremy Hunt | Sky Procycling | s.t. | 17 | Lloyd Mondory | AG2R La Mondiale | s.t. | 18 | Paolo Longo Borghini | Liquigas - Cannondale | s.t. | 19 | Christian Bahr | SpiderTech - Cervélo | s.t. |
Pietropolli takes the lead back and he holds the GC win in his hands.
1 | Daniele Pietropolli | Lampre - ISD | 17h22'30 | 2 | Baden Cooke | Orica - GreenEdge | + 9 | 3 | Giovanni Visconti | Movistar Team | + 10 | 4 | Máté Gömböcz | SpiderTech - Cervélo | s.t. | 5 | Jérôme Pineau | Omega Pharma - Quick·Step Cycling Team | s.t. | 6 | George Hincapie | BMC Racing Team | s.t. | 7 | Christian Bahr | SpiderTech - Cervélo | + 26 | 8 | Lloyd Mondory | AG2R La Mondiale | + 34 | 9 | Lucas Sebastián Haedo | Team Saxo Bank - Tinkoff Bank | s.t. | 10 | Ángel Vicioso | Katusha Team | + 40 |
1 | Sébastien Rosseler | Garmin - Sharp | | 18 | 2 | Stijn Vandenbergh | Omega Pharma - Quick·Step Cycling Team | | 16 | 3 | Michael Matthews | Rabobank Cycling Team | | 14 | 4 | Christian Bahr | SpiderTech - Cervélo | | 12 | 5 | Robert Hunter | Garmin - Sharp | | 12 |
1 | Dimitriy Muravyev | Astana Pro Team | | 32 | 2 | Stijn Vandenbergh | Omega Pharma - Quick·Step Cycling Team | | 28 | 3 | Michael Matthews | Rabobank Cycling Team | | 24 | 4 | Sébastien Rosseler | Garmin - Sharp | | 22 | 5 | David Zabriskie | Garmin - Sharp | | 20 |
Well, this stage didn't turn out too well for us, but we keep our heads high and look for the next challenge. However, Steve Moore gets a point today, because of his tremendous work leading the peloton through the stage and the Willunga nr1.
Steve Moore - 1 |

The wildcard teams for this years tour have been announced:
Team Europcar
Arguably, the highest profile french Pro - Conti team, so their wildcard was almost guaranteed before the season start. They'll surely bring in some great riders like Rolland and Voeckler so they have good chances for stage-wins and a good GC.
Cofidis, le crédit en ligne
The Cofidis team is 2-headed, as they're led by Moncutie and Taramaae, and both are very decent in the mountains. Cofidis's main aim must be a stage-win or the KOM jersey, for Moncutie.
Saur - Sojasun
Probably the littlest team of the 3, Saur is not an especially strong team, but they'll be very active in breaks and they'll be hunting stage-wins all-across the Tour.
These wilcard choices from ASO also mean, that Marcel Kittel's team, Argos - Shimano won't take part, so we'll be less with some Greipel, Cav and Kittel showdowns. |
