In anything competitive people will do whatever they can get away with to get an edge.
I remember 12-14 years ago when I was swimming competitively people would use athsma inhalers before races. (this was at an age group USS level where no testing is done) I always thought it was odd there were so many athsmatic swimmers until someone explained it to me.
I don't think you'll find a sport where large percentages aren't taking some sort of pill or medicine to increase performances.... okay... maybe golf... and curling... |

according to the UCI, the rate of "asthmatic" cyclists is over 6 times the rate of ashtmatics in the general population

uhm. I did not know that. I just saw it on a portuguese newspaper, and they didn't mention a source. they're usually extremely accurate, but that "Bild" thing makes me cringe.
Bild = The Sun

Oscar Pereiro will receive a yellow jersey during a press conference in Madrid in a week to symbolize the fact that he has been given the Tour victory 06. |

maybe I misunderstood what you said, but there are no doping tests in golf.
there will be starting in 2008, because of the huge scandal when some player (can't remember his name, I don't care for golf) that is considered one of the best of all time said when he retired that it's widespread.

As we all know, Credit Agricole will withdraw after the 2008 season. Roger Legeay, the team manager, is still working on finding a new sponsor, and he says they are looking very much at Norwegian companies.
Giro del Piemonte has been cancelled. It's a shame, because it's actually one of the very old races (1906). |
