well, I've finally seen the new FM in depth at a friends and the only thing I can say is thank god I didn't buy it.
the player's stats are as crappy as ever. it's like 5 year olds do the research.
the same player playing in two different leagues has wildly different stats. if he plays in portugal, 16 is the absolute maximum anyone will get for anything other than dribbling.
if he plays in spain, he will have at the very least 3 stats of 20, no matter how horrible he is.
just take any player that moves from the spanish to the portuguese league and compare his stats in those two FMs in a row. he'll have plummeted from brilliant stats to average ones.
and of course, every french club has 30 trillion euros to spend on players.
and we complain that PCM's stats are bad

In general, I don't see why people complain less about FM compared to PCM. FM is just as unplayable out-of-the-box as PCM is, the stats are bad and unrealistic, and usually there's no "great" improvements. I mean, it's not like the FM-series introduce new, fantastic features every year.
So, to me, FM and PCM got the same kind of problems. |

The differnce is that FM is a much much more complex game than PCM. severalt times larger.
And the database is much much bigger.
Oh, and I disagree about the data. I think its rather good, when considering the absolutely huge size of the database. Theres errors, but most are in the area of perception. we cannot agree whether a player is 15 or 17 in dribling. Its a matter of what we think!

I'm not talking about that.
players in some leagues are enormously overrated just because they play in said leagues, while the opposite is true for other leagues, and to verify that, all you have to do is look at how players have 20 for pace while playing in the argentinean league and are bumped down to 12 when they get to europe because the 20 was simply stupid. watch how any player that leaves the spanish league has his stats bumped down immediately. watch as clubs from so many countries have insane amounts of money to spend while they have none in real life, while those from other leagues are realistic. it creates a gigantic imbalance.
that is where the research is dirt-poor
at least there is hope, since Miles Jacobson from SIgames has already acknowledged most of this, saying they'll seek to put that right by changing most of the research staff.
the example he gave personally is how the number of high potential (-9 or -10) youngsters in the spanish leagues is 4 times (!!!) that of holland and portugal COMBINED, while (he says and I agree), it should be the same for all three.
look at all the -9 and -10 potential youngsters from the spanish leagues in previous versions. how many of them turned good in real life? almost none.

OK, but theres a far cry from having too many spanish talents to calling the data dirt-poor in my opinion. Besides talents are even more of an opionion sport than regular players.
Besides, I almost only play in England, since their resaerch is usually the best. I have, in tha past, not wanted to play in Denmark for the same reasons yoyu cite: Too many obvious mistakes. But in recent years the danish data is much better.
Btw, im not argueing that fm08 doesnt have issues. All games do. Some of them are easy too see, and im especially dissappointed with how the new features seem to be quite badly done. However, Im very pleased with the match enging this year. I feel I can influence that tactics much more, and that its far better balanced (at least on the latest beta patch)
Still, its the best game available, with perhaps only World of Warcraft challenging it for "hours spent on pixels award" in my life.
On second thought, WOW has no chance to win, since Ive played very cm/fm since cm back in the very olden days.

the word "example" means "a small sample", as in "to avoid spending the whole day writing everything down". want more examples? read my previous posts. heck, read the data forum at the SIgames board. should keep you entertained long enough.
just enough time until you tear out your hair reading things like "the head researcher for Turkey hasn't reported in since March. but he still keeps his job and we(SI) couldn't care less about updating turkish data". etc.

England research the only professional one in rest amateur....and SI dont bother change that

On fm2006 I always loved taking small teams from big competitions or decent teams from the more exotic leagues, I once became the manager of Rubin Kazan a team from Russia and did alright there, getting qualified to the UEFA cup but then all my starplayers went and so I went aswell to Zenith St Petersburg Also, managing a small national team can be fun aswell, I did it with Bahrain and Lithuania and it was alot of fun...I cant wait to get fm2008B)

Or is there anyone who has a so called 'superpack' which has lots of kits and logo's?

what i have done is
https://www.fmcentre.co.uk//index.php?...owforum=60
used that site for Derek's E2G logo's, absolutley fantastic logo's.
--------
https://fmglive.com/forums/
used that site for great SS08 kits
--------
ftp://194.255.1.180/grafik/Framed_Meg...k_FM08.rar
350MB facepack, great looking photo's and a hell of a lot of them
obviously the sites linked to above, do different things to what i used them for so you can use fmglive's logo's as well, i just used them as i said because that's the way i liked them
place everything you download in D:\Documents and Settings\Adam\My Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2008
create a folder in there called "graphics" and seperate folders for kits, logo's etc.
and then in-game go to "Preferences", and untick "Use Skin Cache" then tick "reload skin on confirm" (something like that anyway)
anything else you want i'm sure i will be able to find it
