Giro d'Italia - Stage 21

Race Review

After Peter Sagan failed to pick up any points, the race turns over to Cunego.
But also to Uran who lurks 38 seconds off the lead.

i1208.photobucket.com/albums/cc374/mresuperstar4/Peter%20Sagan%20QFH/Giro/Stage%2021/8.jpg

Cunego is the last to hit the road and knows what he has to beat,
After 20 stages everything will be decided on the final day!

i1208.photobucket.com/albums/cc374/mresuperstar4/Peter%20Sagan%20QFH/Giro/Stage%2021/9.jpg

The pink jersey is through the first checkpoint.
Everyone anxiously awaits to see the score board light up ...

It's a pretty bad start for Cunego! Will he bounce back?
The final standings through the 1st check,

i1208.photobucket.com/albums/cc374/mresuperstar4/Peter%20Sagan%20QFH/Giro/Stage%2021/11.jpg

Uran has already pulled back 29 seconds!
He just needs 10 seconds to steal the Giro d'Italia.

i1208.photobucket.com/albums/cc374/mresuperstar4/Peter%20Sagan%20QFH/Giro/Stage%2021/12.jpg

Cunego is starting to feel the pressure.
Through the 2nd checkpoint his time gets even worse!

i1208.photobucket.com/albums/cc374/mresuperstar4/Peter%20Sagan%20QFH/Giro/Stage%2021/13.jpg

The only good news for him is that Uran has started to struggle as well,
he still hold the overall lead by a mere 2 seconds. It's a race to the finish!
Peter Sagan after seeing Cunego's time starts heading over to the awards ceremony location, he is confident that he has taken the first segment
in his Quest For History.

To Be Continued ...

I think you wrote in the wrond thread. Btw, Sagan has it sealed.

Sagan stop being so cocky, Cunego will keep fighting until the fight is done! He is right though Cunego shouldn't be able to make that time up before the end.

Race Review

The moment of truth!

i1208.photobucket.com/albums/cc374/mresuperstar4/Peter%20Sagan%20QFH/Giro/Stage%2021/14.jpg

Rigoberto Uran hits the line 16th fastest, with a time of 43'29".
So if you do the math Cunego needs to come in with a time of
44'08" to win the the Giro d'Italia.

i1208.photobucket.com/albums/cc374/mresuperstar4/Peter%20Sagan%20QFH/Giro/Stage%2021/15.jpg

As Damiano Cunego hits the line the Giro is officially over.
Peter Sagan is the first man to jump up and down as Cunego's
placing is the first to flash onto the big board, 57th!
But who won? Cunego or Uran?

i1208.photobucket.com/albums/cc374/mresuperstar4/Peter%20Sagan%20QFH/Giro/Stage%2021/16.jpg

Unbelievable Cunego lost on the final day and hands over the Giro to Uran!
44'41" is the official time for Damiano Cunego, so in reality it wasn't even close.

i1208.photobucket.com/albums/cc374/mresuperstar4/Peter%20Sagan%20QFH/Giro/Stage%2021/17.jpg

But here is the man we all came here to see.
Peter Sagan was consistent throughout the 21 stages
and is now set to go to battle for the green jersey at the Tour de France.

Phew just caught up with your new story, and not a moment too soon!

A really great victory for Sagan over a valiant Cunego. Those breakaways look like they sealed it, Thor style Wink

With a bit of luck, things are looking good now for the Tour & Vuelta. But that's easy for us fans to say in our comfy computer chairs...

Amazing! You did it! Great job.

@Geezar10: Sorry about the wait, I got a new job (30-35 hours a week). So I'm struggling to find time but I'm trying my best to keep the reports coming as fast as possible. Wink

@Avin Wargunnson: Thanks for the banana. Grin I'm going to need a lot more to catch up to the number bananas that were in Andy Schleck's thread.

@Desmond: It's great to see new readers, very glad you like it and hopefully you stay tuned for the Tour. Wink

@sutty68: I don't even know how to respond to all your comments, expect by saying you are best story follower on the entire forum. Wink imo

@ruben: Thanks for the support. Grin

@valverde321: Thank you, but really ... What can't I do?
(I get extremely lucky in these Quest for History stories.)
