Colby finishes 6th on Wild Card Stage
Tony Colby is hitting top form at the perfect time of the year for AMEX fans. Today riding for the D2 team in the Tour of Colorado, Colby finished the stage in 6th play out of a breakaway. Colby also got in the day first breakaway but it was reeled in. Late he joined Dennis Van Niekirk in the day major break and stayed all the way to the end.
This is the only way the D2 riders can shine in the Wild Card races. Get in the right break then stay with it to the end.
Greta success for the D2 team and no reason to believe that it will be thier last succes in Colorado. |

Thanks again for all the kind words
Sorry to say but the reports might be delayed a few days as I now have a really spotty internet connection. But I'm a tad ahead of schedule anyway so you can't complain to much

Really nice report of what was a great stage for our D2 Team. Nice job Van Niekerk to get into the break and help our leader Colby when he joined, his 6th was fantastic and Dennis underlined it by finishing 11th, nice day for the team

Sinner finally gets one. It's good to see that my bribe made it's way through the postal system to our fearless race reporter.

Good to see Oz active in the chase.. and nice effort by Clarke as well. Too bad he couldn't benefit more from this good position he had, but a Top5 is okay for me.

So close for Loddo, if he had had Vingerlings wheel instead of Clarke's...
Now bring on the mountains for Marzano! (I'm leaving for Slovenia in 6 hours, hopefully I will have internett to see the results there

That was Jørgensen's opportunity I think. He had the perfect position, but looked like he left it too late. But 3rd is also great, congrats to Levi4life, finally taking another stage win. |

Stage #6 was nt a day for the D2 team to shine. The D2 boys are very aggressive but on a sprinters stage the chances of a breakaway holding to the end were highly unlikely, so they did what a smart team would do they stayed out of trouble and conserved energy to race again tomorrow.
All 7 D2 riders finished with the same time as the winner, so only bonuses will affect the standings. Four of the D2 riders finish in the top 28. Idan Iriondo was 23rd, Angel Mangel, who tried to help a break get away, finished 25th, Tony Colby was 26th and David Belda was 28th.
Colby continues as the Team D2's best GC rider in 24th place and +6'22.
Stage #7 is a series of short steep climbs . This could be an idea race for Team D2 to slide 2 riders into the break and really try to make it stick. Van Niekirk, Belda and Colby all look to be potential champions of the break tomorrow. Colby has already made three major breaks this tour. David Belda seems to be in good form and Dennis Van Niekirk has also had success on this type of stage.
GO D2! |

Interesting race so far. Rooting for Raisin to hold on after that great breakaway, certainly good to see Colby the D2 American ride well there and Peterson isn't too far off either. Emu Export are such a strong team i think they'll be able to hold things together for Saul.

Solid. Hopefully we don't lose any positions on the last stage.

Some bad luck there, unfortunately Agudelo was on the wrong side of the pretty early split, he should definitely have been able to stay with the group, securing us 3 riders top 16 overall. Jørgensen crashing out of it wasn't according to the "plan" either, hopefully we'll try the breakaway on the final stage then, as we've no one to do the sprint.
Congratulations to Emu for a great race so far, true climbing power. And Marzano is really salvaging VW's promotion hopes, this is exactly what they need, eventhough Marzano most likely won't win the race.

Well, well... If you give me a stage-win in final, I would be pleased.. if not.. another disappointing one. It's been a target race for Oz and so far, we could win two stages in our target races.. so it's time for a third, right?

Looks like this one beyond Marzano now.
A race to forget for Vespa - though that's usually a given when Bosisio is leader. |

God, D'Amore is so useless...
A mediocre race for me. Some decent stage results at least.

And go Colby, get that top 20!
So much for that
Very nice stage and report - this is shaping up to be quite a solid race already.
Top 40?
39th! \o/
Good race for the D2 team, being quite aggressive, and with that great 6th place of Colby in one stage. Congrats to Raisin/Emu Export/jack for the GC win, and great reporting, Mresuperstar.
